A word from Serafina by The Water
“SERAFINA” in Italian translates to both “angel of the sea” and “fine evening”. Those who have been there completely agree! Serafina also has a covered and heated patio.

Diner Reviews
  • "When we arrived we were a little confused because we can see the kitchen from the street and felt we arrived to the wrong location. We decided to proceed down a pathway that led to the elegant ambiance pictured online. We were seated outside on a patio overlooking water. The table we was leaning I was looking for a rock or brick to help level it out so I could get more comfy. To the food...we ordered spicy mussels in white wine sauce that had no taste. Then I ordered a risotto dish with 2 scallops and 2 prawns cut in half. The taste was good and I didn't take the leftovers. My partner ordered a grouper dish that was just okay and lacked flavor. Would we go again no, would we recommend not really. The servers were nice though."

  • "Food was wonderful. Our server was very helpful, but we seemed to get forgotten about a lot. So dinner took a little longer than it should, but I would still recommend serafina'a to a friend."

  • "It was so wonderful, Its Ft Lauderdale's best kept secret . I don't want anyone else to find it otherwise I'll never get a reservation! Ha!Ha! Seriously its awesome."

  • "When we pulled up to Serafina we wondered if we should keep our reservation! It is not in the best part of town, you need to walk down the side of the building to actually get into the restaurant. Inside seating is very small with plenty of outside seating with a water view. Be careful if sitting outside- the patio slopes and depending where you sit this could affect how stable your table and chair are! The food was good, solid Italian food. There was nothing that was outstanding but good. Their seafood soup was the best part of the meal. The portions are generous."

  • "Seemed as though they were unprepared for the crowd, everything took an extremely long time. Our food was delicious, when it finally arrived. Waitress was great, but was definitely overwhelmed. We were lucky and had a later dinner, so by the time we were finishing things were slowing down & she was able to be much more attentive. Would give the restaurant another shot as the food was great."

  • "Usually go to Serafina for special occasions as know will be good meals with something to please everyone. Seafood, sea bass, veal chop and antipasto salad were all delicious. Only complaint was the kitchen was VERY slow. Took over 2 hours for our party of 4 to have dinner. Not servers fault, as she did check back with us and comped us coffee drinks. With expanded waterfront seating, many more patrons will be able to experience dining outside on the canal. Willing to give it another try, as food and ambiance are so good."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Serafina. Our table was right along the water, and it was delightful to watch the boats coming and going, with darkness approaching and lights twinkling. Service was excellent, and the food was fabulous. My husband chose a very lovely Carpaccio and perfectly prepared fish. I selected Pappardelle al Bolognese. I was amazed at the lightness of the pasta, and the meat ragu sauce was wonderful. We definitely will return when we visit Florida next winter."

  • "The owners were wonderful and Dominique was a delight to talk to about their Restaurant. They do plan on fixing the patio. On the south side. So I was told call for any table Requests. The table was very very uncomfortable. Tables on the north side were much more Even. Our waiter was ok:the con however when asking for wine there was no list That he provided. He assumed I want wine by the glass versus the opportunity To get a bottle of wine. Upon asking for refills he was attentive to my Husband but not To my empty glass. Nor other beverage offers. He seemed to be very very attentive To one table if gentlemen next to us. Other waiters seem to be better in taking care Of their patrons much better."

  • "This establishment recently taken over by new owners. The food was delicious and we were guided without error by our server. The wine list was perfect and not overwhelming. We both ended up having specials...mine was a lobster risotto dish with saffron which was fantastic. Also had the calamari and fennel appetizer which I could eat every day. Our server was fantastic. We sat in the new dock space which put us right on the Middle River - lovely. We will be back sooner than later!"

  • "The restaurant is underwhelming from the outside, but charming inside. The bread is great. The wine is reasonably priced. The food is delicious. The fresh grouper was outstanding."

  • "Serafina is tucked in behind some other businesses, down a quaint alleyway. We were greeted warmly and brought to a lovely, waterside outdoor porch. The menu was interesting, from tender Gorgonzola topped filet to a unique lobster ravioli. The sea bass just melted in your mouth. The crusty bread was fresh baked and great with the wonderful sauces on all six dinners. Our service was slow, even for the well prepared food, but we would let it go on a busy nice. They gave us wine to ease the delay - so nice! The owner is present and friendly. You should try Serafina if you want something tasty, out-of-the ordinary and fairly priced. All six in our crowd would agree!"

  • "This is one of the best finds in Fort Lauderdale. I have lived here for 10 years and just found this place this year. The food is amazing and its outside dining, DIVINE. I would make one suggestion: If they could get rid of the BRIGHT lighting under the tent, that would make the place perfect...........Otherwise, I will be dining there regularly.... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!!!"

  • "Not worth it. The floor is slanted so the chairs and tables are off. The tables are squeezed so tightly together the servers kept bumping into us. The chairs were uncomfortable and the food was just okay. Not worth it!"

  • "The restaurant is underwhelming from outside. Once inside it is nice. Decent Italian red wines are reasonably priced. However, check your bill. We ordered a $36 wine and were charged $55. The Bread is outstanding. The Caesar salad was good. The rigatoni bolognese was excellent. The lasagne was good. We plan to return."

  • "Need better servers, never asked if we wanted another glass of wine never checked how food was, and when we were done he brought check guess they don't offer dessert there, all he worried about was a large table he had. Wont be back."

  • "We have been to Serafina multiple times and are always happy. We live out-of-town, but always make a point of going there. The food is authentic. The setting is like dining in a trattoria in Italy. It's very cozy & friendly---food amazing !!"

  • "Wonderful place to spend an evening with friends. Can't say enough about the attention from the owners and wait staff. The food was excellent. We all left with nothing but good things to say. It was a pleasure to dine where the owners are personally involved and actually come around and interact with the customers. They made us feel like family and we had never met them before. Try the Osso Buco it was outstanding! We would highly recommend and can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our experience."

  • "Fresh sea bass, mussels, shrimp and clams in a perfectly seasoned both - as fresh and flavorful as I have ever eaten! My husband had tender delicious lamb shanks over creamy polenta. An arugula salad with thinly sliced sirloin (Carpaccio) and reggiano parmesan cheese topped with a fresh citrus vinaigrette dressing was enjoyed by all along with artisan bread warm from the oven dipped in oil and balsamic vinegar. For dessert, theTiramisu was outstanding and the chocolate mousse dense and rich. We will definitely go back on our next trip to Fort Lauderdale!"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. Our waiter Joe was great, and very attentive. Everything we ordered was superb. We started with jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, and the seafood salad (ceviche). We then had the lobster stuffed ravioli, and veal chop for dinner. We ended it with the Tiramisu that wasn't even on the Valentines menu, but Joe made it happen. I glad he did because it was fantastic. I looking forward to returning soon."

  • "Food, service and view was excellent. The portions are enormous. The food is very good, much better than some of the higher-end Italian restaurants in the area. The servers are very cheerful and happy to be at work which is great to see. I have been here a few times and always look forward to a return trip. It's worth a try of you have never been there."

  • "We only found Serafina by accident and we were extremely happy with the find. Food is prepared excellently and tasted fantastic. Our server was extremely helpful in giving us ideas of what entrées to pick along with a wine to go with them. The outdoor dining area is protected from rain and wind and very comfortable sitting along the intercostal waterway. We had an excellent time and have told others who have had also great time. We will be back again and again soon."

  • "Tucked away on a side street -- and the intracoastal waterway -- is this very good (not five stars, but a solid four stars) Italian restaurant. Lobster ravioli, veal chops, fresh fish, mussels in white wine, rack of lamb: these are the types of relatively upscale dishes you can find here. The service is friendly if a tad less than professional, but it's more of a homey, neighborhood feel than a "white table cloth" kind of place. They had a number of nice specials, along with a well constructed menu. Some of the dishes border on "old school," with a bit too many cream sauces and heavy preparations, but even for a 21st century couple like us we found a number of excellent dishes that weren't too unhealthy. We will definitely be back."

  • "Decided to try this for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised. We found a great neighborhood Italian restaurant that we can bring out of town guests to that is not going to break the bank. We tried the grilled calamari appetizer that was just perfectly prepared. The squid was tender and the sauce which tasted like lemon and olive oil was subtle and did not over power the delicate squid. Entrees were Chicken Cacciatore (a huge portion) and Gnocchi with Fresh Mozzarella. Both were well cooked and delicious. Service was prompt and courteous - if anything we felt a bit rushed as if our table was needed for the next party. Other than that I would recommend this neighborhood gem for a lovely, well prepared Italian dinner."
