Diner Reviews
  • "Our group of 4 stopped in for a lite pre-theatre dinner @ 5pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant had plenty of available tables - we made a reservation but didn't need it. Food was fresh and delicious; service prompt and polite. Excellent all around!"

  • "All the right qualities for a solid pre-theater meal. Nice selection of satisfying dishes. Not too fancy, but still creatively prepared. Good place to chill before seeing a show. Wait staff and busboys were generally friendly and polite although our waiter seemed a bit preoccupied."

  • "There are few restaurants to choose from near the Neil Simon Theater and Serafina was a total disappointment. The restaurant looked tired, the service was fair and the food was drab. The uptown restaurant is much more vibrant."

  • "Food and service outstanding..able to get us out and to the theater in time for curtain"

  • "The jumbo shrimp ane risotto was delish!! Friendly staff and convenient location, close to Broadway in midtown."

  • "Our waitress was excellent. We didn't want to be rushed, as we had time to kill before the theatre, so we placed our orders but didn't want the entree right away. She timed it perfectly. The vegetarian plate was delicious. The only downer was the very noisy atmosphere which made it hard to carry a conversation - an unfortunate trend in so many restaurants these days."

  • "Our waiter was very helpful suggesting various items from the menu. He said "if you like caviar, you will love the pasta with caviar", so I took him at his word and placed my order. We did not see or hear from him again until the food had been delivered. My plate of pasta with a small scoop of caviar (hidden under a basel leaf) sat with no pasta spoon, cheese or red pepper. By the time we found someone to bring these items my food was cold. All this for $39.00!!!"

  • "The food and ambiance were good but the service was patchy. The waiter didn't know the answers to our questions and had to ask three different people for butter."

  • "The food is amazing. Our waiter hardly came to see what we needed. We had to chase him all the time. The waiter helpers ( latins) were amazing very attentive though. I'm general a good experience, but way too noisy. Me and my group count talk. Would be good to improve on the service."

  • "i am a serafina fan so when planning a birthday celebration for a friend I decided this would be perfect location after seeing a play. we arrived a little before 6 and they had us out of there by 6:35 - we had drinks an appetizer and a main course - that is a ridiculous rush job and it was sunday and the restaurant was not that crowded. The bus boy paid more attention to us than the waitress ... Needless to say I will not be going back or recommending this location to others..."

  • "Waiter asked for our order before giving us menus! Wine and apps arrived very promptly, but we ran out of time before we had to leave to catch a show. Restaurant mgmt was very good - gave us comp wine to compensate for the delay, but we still didn't get to eat our mains. This didn't seem to be normal - every table around us were served promptly. We will def be back - but when we have no restrictions on our time. Apps we did have? Excellent! Can't wait to return and have that full meal. "

  • "We had a great time celebrating a co-worker's birthday after work. Tuna tartare and lemon, shrimp and bowtie pasta dish were delicious. Service was also very attentive. They promptly served a late joiner and also provided a happy birthday dessert to our guest of honor. Fun, low key and delicious. "

  • "Very good location, above average food, good service and low noise level will make this restaurant my go to for pre theater dinning. "

  • "Wish I had known that the food would be disappointing and over-priced. There are so many good restaurants in the theater district. This wasn't one of them."

  • "The restaurant was small, but quite and clean. They have a menu with many choices, each of them sounding delicious. I have a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating. The waitress was knowledgeable about all menu items and was attentive. Overall we had a great experience. "

  • "Serafina was absolutely wonderful for a pre-theater meal. We arrived 45 minutes before the start time of our show nearby. I thought our play started an hour later and the host immediately corrected me and then told me they could have us in and out in under 45 minutes, which was a near-miracle given how many diners the restaurant had. Notwithstanding my mix-up, we were able to have great food and get to the play on time. What a great experience!"

  • "Very good Italian food. Great service. Very conveniently located in the heart of New York's theater district, on 49th St. right across the street from the Ambassador Theatre. Highly recommended for dinner before the show!"

  • "The food wasn't bad, but certainly not worth what we paid. The pasta was good, but nothing I can't make at home. Our dessert was very good though. Our drinks, bread, and meal came all at the same time and then we waited forever to get our bill. Not bad, but I'm sure there's better."

  • "Good food, we have been at another location of this restaurant, we have enjoyed the food bother times. However we were disappointed that they did not have corn cakes on the menu this time."

  • "Have eaten here a few times and the food is consistently excellent as is the service. Unfortunately on a nice day when the front is open to the street it gets a little noisy"

  • "This is a gem in the neighborhood pre-theatre. We always go for the unbelievable pizza and always have a fresh fish and pasta specials that are amazing. Great menu choices for everyone!"

  • "...we had a great meal. I've eaten here quite a few times & it's always been great. Love the 'goat cheese & spinach salad'! The only problem was that it was very crowded on this night & the service wasn't as good as it normally was. But I will be back!"

  • "I went there for breakfast with my family on Saturday morning! The pancakes were very tasteless and they served some thing that was advertised as French toast that didn't taste anything like it and didn't taste good also! It took to long to be asked about the food! Music in the dinning room pop American and blasting Hispanic music from the kitchen really annoying ! The location and decor very good! But not enough"

  • "Overall Serafina was very good I would return. The food was very good, a very large wine list, though very pricey for a glass less than 4 oz. The atmosphere was very nice my only complaint was the music was loud, we had to talk over it and it was difficult to hear my partner. But for the food & location I'd recommend it."

  • "We were a group of 4 and every dish was a pure delight. The homemade pasta is really fresh delicious. We did get our entrees after our main course but food was still all very good. We didn't appreciate that a 20% tip was automatically added to each of our bills. I most certainly would have given 18% at least because the food was great and the waitress very nice, but to have a tip imposed on us, we almost wanted to ask for our bills without tip and leave none as protest ! But we didn't. That's how much we enjoyed the food and place... Just be warned. Also we were celebrating a birthday, they were nice enough to bring desert with a candle but we had to pay for it. I'm used to restaurant in my city who offers the desert for birthday."

  • "Really bad experience in multiple levels. The place is very tight. It really feels like you are all crammed on top of each other. The service was very bad. We both ordered salads one came twenty minutes into the meal the other never cane. After waiting am hour we both got entrees but the other salad was missing. Lots of excuses but what a mess the food was ok Felt like a tourist trap"

  • "Service and ambiance was sub par Bathroom on the second floor of time hotel was vile We go to Serafina uptown all the time This was less than what I expect from Serafina"

  • "in the heart of Times Square, Serafina, is a consistently good choice. There are several around NYC and I've been to many. Our server was friendly, almost too chatty, but my altered off-the-menu entree was easily accommodated (grilled chicken with veggies). I was disappointed a little b/c the bread basket was cold in the middle. It's a little bit of a tight squeeze and you have to take an elevator up 2 floors to use the bathrooms b/c it's under Time hotel. Not a bad choice thought. They have great pizzas, but I did not order one at this location."
