Diner Reviews
  • "This is definitely a special occasion restaurant. The lobster bisque soup was amazing. The bread was warm, the steaks were great, and view of the city of Dallas was amazing. Service was outstanding from start to finish. The molten dessert with the blood orange sorbet was off the charts terrific. I highly recommend this dining experience."

  • "TAble was not prepared when we were seated - lack of tableware, salt & pepper; - had to ask for them food was very well done - a 10 on a 10 scale service was lacking - had to continually ask server for refills on water and coffee on Open Table a special request was made -we were threre to celebrate my grandaughter's 18th birthday - nothing was presented to us to reflect this special occision. very sad as one is only 18 years old once."

  • "I can only think of 3 times in my life I have sent a steak back, with number 3 being at Ser. I am not sure how you mess up a bone in ribeye but it came out well instead of medium rare with no taste. The filet they suggested to replace it was medium rare but wasn't that great either. The waiter was very nice and since they knew we were there to celebrate a birthday they brought out a dessert without even asking what we might like. That was ok, a molten chocolate cake. They also brought out a creme brûlée as an apology from the chef. Unfortunately, you could have drank it with a straw. Underneath the sugar glaze it was liquid. Very disappointed on the food across the board."

  • "Amazing view!!! Great wine list. Service was sub-par, at best. Food was not good enough to command $40/plate."

  • "I rarely write reviews, but had to in this case. This was the best dining experience I've had in Texas, by far, since moving here three years ago. The food was very good, but what really separated SER was two things: (1) their view, which is one of the things that has them on the map; (2) more importantly, their service which was outstanding. Really: impeccable. Can't say enough good things about everyone from the hosts, to the wait staff, to management. Made for a magical evening. Even before dinner was over, I was raving to my girlfriend (whose birthday we were celebrating), to which she said: "Wow...it must be good, since you're always complaining when we go elsewhere!" Which, is true, but there simply was negative to be said. Well done."

  • "The entire meal was top notch. The waitstaff was attttentive but not overbearing. Their recommendations were spot on including tempura lobster for starters. I rank the steak here on par with any steakhouse in the Metroplex. The views are unmatched."

  • "We brought out of town guests for dinner and teh evening was a hit! While the steaks were good, they weren't the stars. It was the appetizers and the sides, along with the incredible service!"

  • "We loved the looks of the place the view was great at night. The place was full when we sat down at 8pm but mostly cleared out by time we left. We had a nice bottle of wine, are light to save room for desert but we ended up not ordering desert. Our waitress was struggling and was a bit unrefined for that caliber restaurant. Overall it was a nice beautiful place I would go back to. Not having ordered red meat this time I can't really rank them on steak"

  • "This restaurant has a great view of Dallas, Texas. I will likely eat here again for the view and service. My waiter was great. I wish I could recall his name, but the restaurant offered excellent service. However, given the caliber of restaurant I would have expected better from the food. The macaroni noodles were in need of additional cooking and the spinach was basic. Given the cost and serving sizes at comparable restaurants I would considered increasing the portion sizes and working on the prepraration and presentation. I will say that the steak was fairly good and so were appetizers. I think my waiters name was Frank...he was excellent."

  • "I've been several times and I'm never disappointed with service, food or atmosphere. Great to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays and would possibly be a great place for a wedding rehearsal dinner. A true Dallas gem!"

  • "Overall it was very good. We had a great view and the food was delicious. I would go back again. The only thing we didn't like was the iPad type menu. But We asked for paper menus and we did receive them."

  • "First time for us here. Anniversary spent at the Spa. Booked a room and had an amazing dinner at this restaurant at the top of the Hilton. Great views Great service We enjoyed the entire experience. They even had JW Green Label. My favorite scotch which has been discontinued for two years now."

  • "This was a belated Valentine's dinner for us and everything was great. We were seated exactly where we requested and the table was ready for us right as we arrived. Service was wonderful as well as the food. Both of us would recommend the fried half lobster and the filet, cooked perfectly. Expensive but worth it if you are looking for a memorable experience."

  • "Outstanding service, food very good, well presented, but too expensive. Can get the same overall experience and quality for almost one half the price. Paying too much for the view and ambiance"

  • "Amazing view of Dallas. impeccable service. I had the 22oz steak and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Don't pass on the cream corn with popped corn in it. Its amazing and like no other! It was so good I had to go back and have the exact same meal again!"

  • "I have been to Nana Grill several times and enjoyed everything. However, Ser - was little disappointing on Sunday night. The menu is very limited. Service was OK - probably a rookie helper to our server. Unlikely to visit again."

  • "It was Valentine's night, we had a reservation at 8.30, but still had to wait a good 10 minutes to be seated. Wait staff was good but a little difficult too understand. We had the 5 course dinner, which was nice but the wait between dishes was way too long. a good 30 minutes between salad and the main course."

  • "A great special occasion restaurant. The food is good. Atmosphere is perfect. My wife and I had an awesome time on Valentine's Day. We will be back!!"

  • "Although it is a little pricey, I left there after eating the best steak ever. The view and the atmosphere are perfect for a special occasion"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We typically don't go out for Valentine's because the restaurants are too crowded, over-priced and the quality of food typically goes down because they are trying to get all the meals out in a rush. I heard about Ser on the radio boasting the scenic views overlooking Downtown Dallas. I thought I would give it a try since it would give us a different perspective than all the restaurants in Uptown. We walked in and we were instantly impressed with the floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping around the entire restaurant. We were seated by the window with a perfect view of Downtown. The food, service at the bar and our dinner table was 5-star and we couldn't have been happier with our Valentine experience. We will definitely go back!"

  • "We went to Ser for the first time, on Valentines Day. The decor is nice and the view of downtown Dallas is great, but the evening was ruined by a terrible singer who was hammering on a piano and shrieking into an over - amplified microphone. Couldn't have a conversation over the din, and our waiter had to shout at us. The food scores a B or a B+; the wine list is short and uninteresting."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Only complaint is the view of downtown. It could be perfect if it weren't for the reflection of the kitchen that took up half of the window of the view of downtown Dallas."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "Early Valentine dinner didn't work out too well. Our first time here. We got a bad piece of meat we had to send back. It happens. The waiter and the manager were very accommodating. I also thought our food did not come out very hot. The plate was hot but the food wasn't, both the steak and the sides. So much competition at this level, they needed to knock it out of the park to get us to come back."

  • "I wanted to take my girlfreind someplace special for her birthday other than Bob's or Pappa's or Al's for a good steak. Food and wine were overprized and undersized portions. A glass of wine was a "true" 4oz pour. I have eaten at every upscale steak house in Dallas and this meal ranks at the bottom of my list. While the ambience is outstanding, the service was medicore and food not execiting. The tomatoes on the wedge salad were horrible. The strip was good but the filet was bland and dry. The side dishes that were "huge" barely could feed one person. Great piano bar singer and friendly bar tenders in bar saved the night."

  • "Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The waiter made great recommendations for sides and entrees. We loved the food and the view is one of the best in Dallas."

  • "From the apps to the sides to the main course food was great. One of the best meals we have had. Server was very friendly and helpful but you could tell when the restaurant was busy as there was less attentiveness. There is a great view of the whole city but the downtown can only be seen from certain tables. It was a little disappointing when I had made the reservations a month in advance asking to sit on the side with the city view and we were not sat there (especially because there were plenty of open tables on that side while we dined). It is a little pricey compared to similar style steak restaurants in the city. Over all nice experience and would go back for a special occasion."

  • "We loved the ambience. Of course you cannot get a better view in Dallas, TX. Beginning with appetizers, the Raw Oysters were fresh and large! The Shrimp Cocktail was good, although the shrimp was a little over done for my liking. We both ordered the Filet, one medium-rare and the other medium. Both were done to perfection. I will say that we thought the Filet at another restaurant, had better flavor. We frequent steakhouses and have not found one better than at _____. I would say Ser's filet came in a close 2nd. The Arugula Salad, the Creamed Corn and the skinny Onion Rings were all fanominal !!! Frank, our server, remembered us from 8 years ago, when it was "Nana Grill"!! Highly recommed this restaurant!!"

  • "Have been to SER before and was a little disappointed this visit. The waiter was attentive at first and then forgot us after the first course was delivered. To start we ordered the steak tartar and two of us had the lobster bisque. Both were excellent. The pork chops were a little dry/tough and the filet was ok. Fish was excellent. The pear fritters (desert) were greasy. Like I said prior visits were excellent so maybe they were having a bad Thursday night."
