  • Parking Details: Located directly underneath the restaurant, the Colonial parking lot is located at the corner of 30th and K streets. Enter the garage and follow the signs for level P2. Once on the P2 level follow the signs to Sequoia. The elevator has direct access into the restaurant.

  • "Went there for Thanksgiving Dinner in 2013. All of the food was excellent! Carving stations with beef and Ham. Pasta and Crab Cake Station. Fresh lamb. The view from my table was wonderful, overlooking the skating rink. The huge picture windows had view of The Kennedy Center and the Harbour. Excellent!"

  • "I was taking my fiancé out to dinner for his birthday and was very excited to try this restaurant. We showed up on time for our reservation, and I had requested a nice table so I wasn't bothered by a short wait at the host stand. I was not pleased with the women's bathroom at all. It was a mess and pretty gross. Once we sat down at our table, and before any server arrived at our table to take our drink order, that the power to the entire building went out! We sat there for about 20 minutes hoping it would come back on, but it never did so we left. I was disappointed that we weren't able to eat at sequoia that night, and that this was my first impression of a restaurant i had wanted to try for a long time.."

  • "Service was friendly, perhaps overly cloying, in an attempt to appear professional. However, they didn't really pay attention to us personally or read the situation, and kept interrupting at awkward times at the table. Felt rushed. Charcuterie appetizer was fine if not mind-blowing. One entree, duck, was very overcooked, dry, and tasteless. Waiter said it was served medium, I asked for it rare, and he said they could do medium-rare. This was nothing if not well-done. Seabass was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Priced way over its level of service and quality of its kitchen. Plus, the lights went out and never came back on; that said, it was actually a lot nicer by candlelight, when it was not so over-lit as it normally is."

  • "You know a restaurant has problems, when you overhear a waitress tell the floor manager that she is embarrassed to serve the desserts and he agrees they need to find a new pastry chef. But there is more, when the same floor manager tells you that the blackened swordfish will always be dried out and flavorless due to being blackened (which is the only preparation on the menu). Could there be more, sadly yes, when the waiter tells you he is a crabcake snob and Sequoia's crabcakes are not very good (he's right, but my mother from Minnesota wanted them anyway, but is now sorry she did.) Is there more bad news, sadly yes although we learned on our own, the octopus was badly overcooked."

  • "this restaurant provide me and my big group an amazing Sunday brunch. There was $8 parking located across the street from the restaurant as well as street parking. The ambience was lovely with nice blue and white accents. the food area was presented well without wait times to hassle. We were constantly serviced with Endless mismosas, water, coffe, etc. The staff treated us very well with manager ensuring we were satified throughout the meal. The menu ranged from fav lunch to breakfast items with an omelet stop and eggs benidict station as well. The raw bar was endless and and the food all together prepared and presented very well. This is a great spot for formal or casual brunch lovers!"

  • "The dozen big meaty oysters were perfectly split and served on a mound of crushed ice with cocktail sauce, a vinegar dip, horseradish, a tiny bottle of tabasco sauce, lemon and lime wedges. Each oyster was a perfect treat. The French Onion soup had a rich dark brown broth under a delicious layer of broiled cheese. A Caesar salad was equally enjoyed. The arrival of the 2 1/2 pound crab stuffed lobster made me laugh - it was huge! The lobster was beautifully served with a small piece of corn on the cob, asparagus, and fingerling potatoes, and was more food than even a man with a hearty appetite could finish. The sea bass with coconut milk was also delicious. When we dine at the Sequoia and are not disappointed!"

  • "The ambience, brightness and spaciousness of this restaurant sitting on the shores of the Potomac is delightful. The food however was good but only average and somewhat overpriced. The wine was also overpriced and we seemed to be pushed by the waiter to order more bottles. Don't go here for the food per se but if you like dining along the river within walking distance of the Kennedy Center, this is the place and bring your checkbook."

  • "We booked an early reservation on a Saturday night. It turns out that there was a wedding that night that took up most of the restaurant so only a small curtained off section of the restaurant was used as the main dining room. The server said that 50 weeks out of the year they had weddings on Saturday nights. They had a band that was so loud we couldn't even carry on a conversation at the table! The food was creative and flavorful. On top of the noise the servcer did not pay much attention to us and we were glad to leave when the meal was over."

  • "My daughter chose Sequoia for her birthday celebration. Among the things we liked best were the scenic view and the ambience, We were seated as soon as we arrived and our waiter was very pleasant. The only down side was that he appeared to be somewhat distracted, rushing from one table to another and occasionally had to be reminded to bring what we asked for. The food was delicious and the presentation was outstanding, They even brought a special treat for my daughter when they learned about her birthday. Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening and we will definitely return in the future."

  • "Celebrated my daughter's birthday with the family here. Initially booked a table for 6, called to change it to 8 and ultimately 10. They were gracious and accommodated all my changes. We got a large table with a commanding view of the Potomac. Service was great; the bottomless mimosas were a hit. The food selection was a very nice spread of breakfast staples, lunch dishes, carving station, taco station and raw bar. I will be back again - hungry..."

Server showed her disdain with slow service subsequent to my asking that my soup, which was brought out with the salad, be taken back so that it wouldn't get cold."

  • "Service was pretty good, though I was told I was ordering a stuffed lobster tail with claws on the side of the plate (when I inquired about a "stuffed lobster" special), and got a huge, whole lobster and bowl with nutcracker on the side. They took it back and cracked it for me, but it was chewy and the crabmeat stuffing was just fishy tasting - not good at all. My companion enjoyed his short ribs. Beautiful location, but I expected better food."

  • "I have been to Sequoia's patio several times and always had a wonderful experience. This last visit was wonderful as well, except for the obnoxiously pretentious host at the front desk. We arrived about fifteen minutes early and asked if we could be seated, as the building was less than half full, and he rudely told us that no we do not seat before the reservation time and that we would have to wait until 8pm...oh I totally thought you meant 8am. It was less about what he said than how he said it. Other than that great restaurant!"

The views and menu make this a really nice experience, and we were really delighted to see the patio open on maybe the first nice day of the year. There was a large wedding party that took over about four-fifths of the restaurant, making it seem crowded and a little under-staffed. It still was a nice experience and we will go back again."
