Executive Chef Noah Sandoval (Schwa, Spring) brings his unique take on new American cuisine to the south east Lakeview neighborhood. Focusing on fresh, local ingredients and a blend of modern and classic techniques, the food of Senza explores a wide range of influences. Chef Sandoval's food is served in a dining room designed by Karen Harold (555 International), which features a unique blend of natural, hand-finished woods, warming textures, and modern art.   • "Had the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. We were under a time crunch as we had plans to go to a show back in downtown. No problem! the waitress pushed things along to ensure that we had enough time to drive back downtown (a 30 min. drive even though our destination was only 6 miles from the restaurant!). This was perhaps the best "fast food" meal I have ever had. Lamb encrusted with cipollini ash was spectacular as was the scallop dish. Would absolutely go again with more time to completely enjoy the experience."

  • "Senza had a fantastic idea: set up the menu with the main ingredient shown at the left and the complementary ingredients of that dish shown at the right, so you had an idea of the complexity of preparation. There was a choice of at least 2, maybe 3, items in each category. They claim that guests found it hard to "understand" the menu setup and as a result there is now NO choice at all in the dinner, and the menu is arranged in the standard way so that diners have no idea what the components are in the construction of any particular dish. Great disappointment in an otherwise perfect culinary adventure. A shame."

  • "Imagine a restaurant that has a tasting menu that can hang with some of the very best in Chicago, Scandinavian decor, and the feel of midwestern hospitality. That is Senza. You are made to feel at home as you walk in the door. Tasting menu only - long form or short form, so make sure you are comfortable with that arrangement. Each course is beautiful and delicious and the wine (or other) beverage pairings are well done. Easily worthy of it's Michelin star."

  • "The food is phenomenal. The flavor combinations are spot on. What this place is lacking is outstanding service. Not sure if we came on an off night but our dinner took forever. The wait between courses was ridiculous. They do not have the timing down like other fine dining establishments in Chicago. The waitress did apologize for all of the delays so it sounds like this is not the norm. Either way it took away from the experience and the quality of the food. "

  • "Senza was wonderful. The sevice was thoughtful and professional. During the 3 1/2 hour dining experience (9-course option) we were presented with beautifully prepared dishes and perfectly paired wines. Each dish and wine was fully explained by a server who was obviousness well versed in wine. Reservation were confirmed with the usual questions - special occasion, food allergies, etc. my wife is allergic to shrimp and the staff was aware when we arrived and thoroughly reviewed the details with her. There was not a single thing we didn't enjoy that evening. "

  • "Kind of weird experience. We can't say we dislike it, but the food didn't WOW us enough to want to repeat it. It was mostly seafood and protein in different variations. What was missing for us is more interesting vegetable accompaniments. Couple of dishes simply repeated themselves with mostly the same ingredients. The service though was excellent and the presentations were beautiful. Did it worth $135 p/p for a Tasting menu? I would say no, but you can judge for yourself. Some people might like it, but unfortunately our expectations didn't come true."

Had dinner at another very well known high-end Mexican last night and it was a total let-down after Senza. Be prepared to be taken to a new level of eating."

  • "Had dinner on a Wednesday; went with the nine course tasting menu plus wine pairings. Had no idea the restaurant is gluten-free, neither here nor there. Service was efficient and helpful, and the course ranged from really good to exceptional. The pairings were well thought out, but not necessarily a highlight. Fish dishes were all expertly cooked, and the combination of flavors across the dishes were intriguing and very enjoyable. All thumbs up!"

This is no ordinary dining experience but rather an adventurous deep dive into the creative world of sensory dining, where each and every bite offers its own savory reward. We chose the five-course option with wine pairings but were delighted to experience three extra tastings, thereby enhancing our appreciation Senza's impressively inventive menu. The g-free bread alone nearly brought my wife to tears of joy. Indeed, the entire evening was absolutely delightful, including the welcoming environment and friendly service. Chef Noah Sandoval and the entire Senza team richly deserve the Michelin Star rating and other accolades they have received!"

The servers are all well-versed in their food, answer questions, and offer tips and in-sight. After the 9 course tasting menu, we were both stuffed and fully-beyond-satisfied. Almostball plates included ice creams where inmerse in tons of salt. We pointed that to the server and salty plates kept coming to the table. Everybody was attonished at the table. Dont go. But Senza will build its reputation upon the food - and the food was spectacular. We had the nine course tasting menu and were seduced by every course. Chef Noah demonstrated remarkable versatility. Each course was strikingly different while being lovingly crafted with exquisite appearance, astounding favors, and complex textures. We have had the good fortune to dine in many of Chicago's Michelin starred restaurants. Senza is in the top group of the one stars and heading for two. We will return. "

The explanations of the wines were right on point and paired beautifully with each course. Our server was great. I loved every course especially the parsnip soup and the scallop course.   • "Although this is a one michelin star restaurant, it was better than expected. I feared that being gluten free would compromise the flavor. Not true, not even for the bread. Service was very attentive but not overly so. The food was magnificent. Modern but accessible and very tasty. Prices were quite good for the food quality as well. Would definitely recommend. Perhaps the best restaurant in the city."

  • "Such an amazing dinner at Senza tonight. Senza was phenomenal from it's early days, but it has been so nice watching the growth. With each visit the food becomes just a little more outstanding and the service is always so warm and friendly. Such a wonderful restaurant to have a relaxing, fun evening, be well cared for and taste some world class cuisine. In the past Chef Sandoval emphasized a sweet vs. savory component to most dishes but we greatly enjoyed the trend towards a savory vs. spicy balance in the first few dishes tonight. Each course looked beautiful, tasted great and left such a pleasant after taste. My only wish is that Senza would change up the menu a bit more frequently; it would certainly compel me to dine there more often. "
