  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary and had planned to sit out on the patio to eat dinner and watch live music however it was raining that day. But no big deal as they had moved all of the live music inside and opened the restaurant walls up to the gasoline alley museum where we got to enjoy our dinner and and live music. Food was great and service was great. They ended our evening with complementary glasses of port....mmmmmm"

  • "The outdoor patio is very comfortable and the lunch menu was varied with a good selection of light choices such as salads and fish. For carnivores, the hamburgers looked meaty and delicious; I didn't see anyone leaving food on their plate. Value was very good with price ranges being similar to Earl's, Milestone's, etc but a higher calibre of food quality and presentation. It is a relaxing dining experience and great to see that there were not many people dining with children."

  • "Foood was outstanding....but unfortunately we had to wait a long time to get it and only got it after I asked where it was...and then when we got 1/2 of the food we were told that the rest of the order got missed...this isn't the type of service you expect at a fairly expensive restaurant...even heard other patrons asking if anyone was going to serve them...but like I said the food was excellent once we got it. Hopefully it was a one off...and not the norm"

  • "Two of us had dinner on the patio this past week. Food and service were both excellent. Waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We enjoyed the evening and look forward to our next visit."

  • "We enjoyed a lovely relaxing lunch for two on the deck. It was a lovely day and despite the park being quite busy with families and children milling around -- the deck felt calm and peaceful. A wonderful experience! We will return very soon!"

  • "All four of us raved about food and service. Thanks so much. we will be back soon!"

  • "Great (upscale - aka $$$) restaurant at Heritage Park. Food was good (steak sandwich was med, not med-rare as ordered), and service was lacking (slow, aloof server). However, this is typically not the experience I have had at the restaurant in the past."

  • "We had the halibut, trout, and duck, all of which are fantastic. We sat on the patio, which is in the new entrance to Heritage Park. It has a very nice village green feel to it. We went there for a leisurely meal and we had a great time."

  • "My dining partner and I specifically chose Selkirk Grille at Heritage Park on a Wednesday evening to enjoy "Music in the Plaza" from the patio. The hostesses at reception were pleasant, courteous and efficient, and already had us out on the patio, even though I had not requested it (guess that was assumed on a day that was 32). The first performer was pleasant; the second, not so much -- much louder. My dining partner and I had to quickly squeeze our conversation in between numbers. The food was wonderful -- my partner and I took the last two pan-fried trout servings left for the evening. Scrumptious. Service exceptionally accommodating. Since the beer keg ran out on our refill order, the 2/3 of a glass that was left was on the house!"

  • "Our lunch on July 30th was outstanding. Service was great I believe his name was. Roberto! Menu short and sweet not like pages and pages in some restaurants Classy yet informal. Definitely enjoyed the food and our conversations. A great place to dine and enjoy the ambiance."
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "I have been to this restaurant a few times in the past and enjoyed the food. This time not so good. The fish dish I had was dry and smelled fishy, the risotto had no favour and was blend and the dessert was disappointing."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "The food was great, service was outstanding, and it's a great place to sit and listen to the free concerts that Heritage Park has on Wednesday nights. If you're going to hear the concert, make sure you book early and get a seat on the patio!!"

  • "We had the bison, lamb and trout - all superbly prepared! Service was excellent :) our server, Enzo, remembered us from a visit months before!!"

  • "I love the setting of this restaurant in Heritage Park. The patio is lovely and quiet, away from traffic which is very unusual in this city. The service is very good and the menu is interesting."

  • "Went here for my husband's birthday dinner celebration. We had the pork belly and scallops and it was excellent! Crab cake was good as well. Very small portions though. The beef tenderloin was good but I've had better steak elsewhere. Halibut was good. For dessert we had Sticky Toffee Pudding which is the best dessert they have! Truffle cake was good. Panna Cotta was ok. Service was very good. The place is very quiet. I'd recommend this place as they have good food. I was happy with my experience."

  • "We chose this restaurant on a whim. The food was really good, presentation was lovely. We sat outside and enjoyed the quiet! Will definitely eat here again."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "The food was very mediocre and bland. I had the coconut panacotta which had no detectable flavour of coconut and a very odd chemical taste. The flatbread was not baked sufficiently and therefore tasted raw.The waiter was disinterested. However, it is a lovely quiet outdoor venue."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "Beautiful inside and patio side, foodie type menu and chef(s) are very accommodating with food allergies and restrictions. Works for families but not the most family friendly menu. A definite nice treat out!"
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "over priced and very average would not go back it was nothing that you would not get at a average restaurant I would not rush back here"

  • "Second time returning to this restaurant. Group of 7 to celebrate a special birthday. Right off the bat our fantastic waiter moved us to a more spacious table which made our evening much more comfortable. Very unique appetizers, everyone loved the crab cakes and the cheese and meat board. Main and dessert were fantastic as well. The feel of the restaurant reminds me of being in a restaurant in Banff Springs Hotel. Noise level is very low which makes sharing conversations at the table a great experience. Will be back for sure."

  • "We often come to the Selkirk, either for a relaxing lunch or as a favourite for special occasions. We have never been disappointed. The food is always first class and the service personal and friendly. The background music is appropriate to the venue and enhances rather than intrudes. We have recommended it to several friends who now also return regularly."

  • "Bison steak was tough and average food for the children. Starters was fair but nothing to sing about. Wouldnt go again as have had better steak and food elsewhere"

  • "Love taking Mom here for mothers day. This year we did it a week late. My mouth had been watering for days to try the "Duck Confit" as I had never had it before, but heard about it many times. I was not disappointed.... it was amazing!!!! My Brother had never been there before but he was very impressed by the place & said he'd be back."

  • "We had a reservation for 7 and the table was ready when we arrived. Food allergies were noted in the reservation and the serve already had the adjustments from the chef on which dishes would work and which ones could be adapted and how. We did lunch and it was quiet enough for everyone to enjoy conversation that spanned the length of the table. There were people in there 30s to those in there 90s and everyone enjoyed the experience. The meals were lunch sized but there was wonderful cakes, sorbets and other treat to finish off the meal."

  • "We recently had a lunch at the Selkirk grille. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The quiet background music was pleasant but not overwhelming. The pleasant staff did not hurry us through our meal and we were able to linger awhile over coffee. This is a rare find and we will recommend the Selkirk Grille to our firends."

  • "The angus steak was disgusting and the food was way over priced. "

  • "Our group had travelled to Calgary for the Mother's Day weekend and this restaurant was chosen based solely on OPEN TABLE reviews. The food and service were amazing and the Mother's Day menu was excellent! I definitely would recommend this restaurant and will be dlining here again when in Calgary!"

  • "For Saturday on Mother's Day weekend (Saturday) with a reservation I was surprised to have a table directly in the pathway of the door, especially when other tables were empty. It was a huge bother to our waiter and the hostess to move to another table. The service continued to be poor throughout the lunch. A request for a second cup of coffee when we asked for the bill seemed bothersome. The food was just good nothing spectacular. A disappointment for a landmark in Calgary. "

  • "Went out for a birthday dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the great food and service. I didn't even know this restaurant existed but for Open Table. Reviews said it was quiet and it was, could enjoy a nice conversation throughout our dinner. "

  • "It's been around 5 years but is still a secret....we had the elk and bison and lamb rack (four meals total) and all were superb in taste, in presentation, and accompanied by excellent attention, without intrusion. Reasonably priced for what you're getting, without a doubt. Definitely a return visit is on the books and the bucket list!"

  • "Not to many people know about this place, so it is nice to "get away" and is extremely quiet. Good for a romantic night, or a special occasion."

  • "This was our first time at the Selkirk Grille. Restaurant was recommended by a friend and the location was prefect for us and our friends. Wine list was fantastic, with the help of our server a selection was paired with our meals. Best red wine I have had! Meals were also fantastic! This will be our first chose for a meal out with family or friends."

  • "Our first dinner here and we chose it to celebrate a dear friend's Birthday. We all loved the nostalgic feel of the dining room, in keeping with the park. All four of us ordered different entrees. Lamb, steelhead, duck and sable. All beautifully prepared. Our server was very friendly and attentive but not overly so, therefore making it a relaxing not rushed evening. We all enjoyed different desserts, one with a candle in it. Without going into detail, I believe there are no bad ones. Looking forward to our next visit. "

  • "Dinner was excellent with unexpected pairings that really worked. We really enjoyed the dinner and the transportation museum in the building. This was our second visit, and we'll return."

  • "What a great idea for a fun night! The food has always been excellent at Heritage Park venues and the Selkirk Grill's food would make any foodie happy. We loved the mac and cheese with truffle appetizer, the main and dessert were excellent too! Part two of the evening, viewing the movie cars and voting for our favorite, was fun especially with a most enthusiastic, informative host. After a stretch of the legs we were ready for our movie, American Graffiti. Finishing touches included seating with tables for tea, coffee and popcorn, of course. So much fun to watch that movie surrounded by vintage cars, signs and gas pumps. A wonderful way to have a immersion dinner and movie experience!"
