SelbaAnother great brunch at SelbaThis is quickly becoming our go-to spot for brunch. Great food and a nice atmosphere, with the live piano music on Sundays. Highly recommend!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulMy husband and I first ate at Selba a couple of weeks ago when we had brunch with friends and our babies (8 mos & 9 mos). The food was so good we had to go back for dinner this weekend. When we were there for brunch, the atmosphere was very relaxed and our babies were not an issue. When we went for dinner on a Saturday night, the atmosphere was a little more adult (I wouldn't bring my baby for a weekend dinner here) - perfect for what we needed. The food was great! And they have so many delicious gluten free options. The service was excellent for both of our visits. We will be going back and recommending to others.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and foodI especially like that they have labeled their menu items as gluten frr, vegan, vegetarian, etc, if they are. There are many GFOs- gluten free options, meaning they can fix it gluten free if you request. all of you with dietarty needs and preferences: please support Selba so that this trend will continue and perhaps be copied by others.
The dish we always order (with the GFO) is the flatbread with carrot and sausage. Very different and very delicious- great for an appetizer for the table.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSeatingLove Selba and we dined on a beautiful evening, only to find that there wonderful Garden Room is only open on Friday, Sat and Sunday. We were very disappointed on this Thursday evening. However, food, drinks and service excellent. Ambiance of the beautiful Garden Room missing. Hope they change this in the future.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect eveningFirst time at Selba and was very impressed with the service, atmosphere and food. Can't wait to go back when they revamp their menu.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxing findReally enjoyed the atmosphere. Staff was outstanding! Love that they use local farmers. The back room is so lovely and refreshing. Samples of a free appetizer is a nice touch. Enjoyed the barbecued brisket. Delicious sauce! Corn salad was a bit disappointing though. Overall, a delightful experience.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSelba is truly a gem in theSelba is truly a gem in the Fan! It's one of my favorite restaurants and it never disappoints!
The garden room is unlike any other venue in Richmond, where you are surrounded by an abundance of greenery, tiffany lamps, and large windows that fill the room with sunshine on pretty days. Selba's Sunday brunch (complete with a pianist providing soothing tunes) is the best!
Selba gets high marks from me for delicious cuisine, a classy yet laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu that offers something that should appeal to everyone. Oh, and the icing on the cake is that Selba has a parking lot (anyone who lives in or visits the Fan knows how rare it is to find any establishment that has off-street parking)!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great our waitressThe food was great our waitress was very attentive to our needs and very helpful with our questions about the menu. The food we ordered for our entrée was very slow in coming out and the restaurant was not that crowded. Our waitress could not have been more helpful and we thank her for that by the way I think her name is Jodi.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful surpriseFriends had been raving about Selba, so I finally went. The menu is extensive and very interesting. All four of us really enjoyed our meals and I saw several things that I want to try on later visits. The garden room is beautiful, although I can always do without distracting TV screens.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to go for specialgreat place to go for special occasion...a little pricey but great service. The portion sizes were a bit small, drinks were good. I would definitely go again and try the brunch. Great outdoor/open eating!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food and atmosphereSelba is a truly a gem. The food was awesome - delicious, flavorful and unique!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOudoors...indoors!Great restaurant; def. ask for the garden room; it's really like being outside, but without the humidity or traffic noise. Great, varied menu. Check out their website.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Richmond's best restaurants!I have been to Selba a few times over the past 6 months that I have been in Richmond and it is FANTASTIC! I took a date there on Friday night and it did not disappoint! The waiters are great, friendly, funny and very knowledgable. The food is fresh, unique and DELICIOUS! The ambiance is perfect for an intimate date night or you can mingle at their bar. If you chose Selba, ask if you can sit in their back room which is like a huge atrium with live plants, low lights, and subtle music. You will be disappointed if you chose Selba!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday dinnerMy first time at Selba was for my daughter's 25th birthday...there are 3 of us who are Gluten free and it can be a challenge ordering. ...Selba not only had wonderful gluten free choices, they also modified an entree to make it gluten free! I loved the beet salad and the quinoa cakes were amazing but the best entree was the chicken...I am definitely going back again! Another Richmond gem5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and friendsOur girls night out group came here for dinner and had a fun time, we tasted from the whole menu...drinks, small plates, entrees and desserts and it was just fantastic!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday dinnerFood was real good, waitress and other staff were helpful and gracious in answering questions, spring roll was fabulous, no problem with getting filet cooked a little more, cobbler for desert was out of the park, Would have liked bread with meal. We would come back and recommend it to others. Valet parking was a real plus5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful varied cuisine, with GFEnough variety for everyone including gluten free. Great and unique choices in all size plates.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time At SelbaWe went for restaurant week. We ended up not ordering off the restaurant week menu since options on the regular menu sounded good. They had some unique twists to their menu items and they were as very tasty. I want to try their brunch menu and to sit in their indoor garden area.
Service was great and the piano player was awesome. The only bad thing is that the two person tables are pretty close together in the front of the restaurant. The two men sitting next to us were very loud. They ate their ENTIRE meals and then ranted and raved to themselves, servers, managers, etc that the food was bad after practically licking their plates clean. Better spacing between our tables would have allowed us to ignore them better.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting ChoiceThe food was interesting. I love the use of fresh grown ingredients. The decorations outside the restaurant are vegetables and herbs, very nice! The chef's use of spice combinations is not for non-foodies. You must have a broad palate. The service and atmosphere are outstanding!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed the gardenI really enjoyed the garden room, and the presentation of food. the menu was especially interesting and healthy4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the garden room. ThankLove the garden room. Thank you for showing old movies and not sports. We love that there is always parking and the employees are at the door are polite and attentive. The food is good and I appreciate all the vegetarian options. We dine at Selba a couple times a month.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI took a friend from out ofI took a friend from out of town for brunch. She had the crab cake with a sweet potato biscuit and I have the lemon ricotta pancakes. It's hard to please someone from Manhattan but the food and service were both great and on a subsequent trip, I've already been instructed to book a dinner reservation!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place want to try everything.Great options for those with gluten sensitivities. Eager to try other items on the menu. Service was excellent. Food presentation was visually appealing. Would have liked to have the background music just a shade softer so it didn't feel like we had to yell to converse.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food and service! This was our second visit in two weeks- and we rarely repeat a restaurant that soon. We love that we can find excellent food & service and still hear our tablemates without shouting! A few of our favorite dishes are the sausage and carrot flatbread- a great starter, and since there are 8 pieces, the four of us shared, and the mac and cheese is to die for! I've ordered something different every time- we've been three or four times now, and have been satisfied or excited about everything I've had. I especially like the fact that gluten-free and vegetarian choices are labeled on the menu, PLUS they label other items that can be prepared to meet those dietary needs if you ask for that.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantThe garden room was lovely and perfect for conversation but the main dining room was very loud due to a piano player they have at brunch time. Food and service were great as always.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to Selba; My daughter lives in Richmond and recommended it as a great place to meet for Easter Brunch. I was surprised to receive a call from Selba the day before to confirm our reservation, but it made me feel that they cared about my experience. I was very impressed with the appearance, our table location; the service and food was outstanding. I would definitely travel to Richmond again to dine at Selba.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe garden room was the idealThe garden room was the ideal spot on a rainy Sunday for a delicious brunch. The wait staff was very professional but warm and welcoming as well. The menu offered a nice variety of fare. Our trio enjoyed waffles with blueberry topping, crab cakes and a fritatta, all of which definitely hit the mark. The dessert was fantastic -- apple and berry cobbler with incredible caramel ice cream. We are definitely planning to sample the dinner menu; it looked very tempting. I highly recommend Selba's to anyone looking for a good meal in very pleasant surroundings.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!Awesome brunch with some unique items...we had been to Selba for dinner and thought it was FABULOUS...we will be back again!!
We had a toddler with us and they were very accommodating. Thanks, Selba!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the garden area atI love the garden area at Selba. I also love that it's not a chain. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. I brought my three-year-old, though, and our particular waiter was fantastic to him. Many of the other staff seemed very hostile towards him, though, especially the hostess. Probably not a good place for kids.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSelba is great, their foodSelba is great, their food is amazing, the dessert I'd especially amazing...3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. The staff here can handle crowds, small groups, everything with just the right note.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for BusinessI had a high powered business dinner with senior executives of two major corporations and clients. These gentleman are use to dining in the best of the best. Selba fit the bill. The staff was excellent and professional did their jobs without interfering with conversation.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI will go back again. FoodI will go back again. Food was great, although my husband did not care for the beef brisket, as the BBQ sauce was too sweet (for beef). The appetizers were great. Would prefer a table, rather than a wrap-around booth......too hard to get in/out of and the seat was not comfortable for a short person. We celebrated my daughter's birthday and had a very good time!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Selba and we liked everything about it. Our food was excellent, and the service was great. The ambiance in the space with the large windows and greenery was especially attractive and different from the normal restaurant. I love how they converted and reused an older space into a beautiful restaurant. Unlike many other restaurants, our party was able to have good dinner conversation with raising our voices, even though the space was filled with diners.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis best kept secret is theThis best kept secret is the new neighborhood gem!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife and other familyTook my wife and other family and friends here for her birthday.
