SelbaOne of Richmond's best restaurants!I have been to Selba a few times over the past 6 months that I have been in Richmond and it is FANTASTIC! I took a date there on Friday night and it did not disappoint! The waiters are great, friendly, funny and very knowledgable. The food is fresh, unique and DELICIOUS! The ambiance is perfect for an intimate date night or you can mingle at their bar. If you chose Selba, ask if you can sit in their back room which is like a huge atrium with live plants, low lights, and subtle music. The decorations outside the restaurant are vegetables and herbs, very nice! The chef's use of spice combinations is not for non-foodies. You must have a broad palate. We love that we can find excellent food & service and still hear our tablemates without shouting! A few of our favorite dishes are the sausage and carrot flatbread- a great starter, and since there are 8 pieces, the four of us shared, and the mac and cheese is to die for! I've ordered something different every time- we've been three or four times now, and have been satisfied or excited about everything I've had. I was surprised to receive a call from Selba the day before to confirm our reservation, but it made me feel that they cared about my experience. I was very impressed with the appearance, our table location; the service and food was outstanding. I would definitely travel to Richmond again to dine at Selba.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe garden room was the idealThe garden room was the ideal spot on a rainy Sunday for a delicious brunch. The wait staff was very professional but warm and welcoming as well. The menu offered a nice variety of fare. Our trio enjoyed waffles with blueberry topping, crab cakes and a fritatta, all of which definitely hit the mark. The dessert was fantastic -- apple and berry cobbler with incredible caramel ice cream. We are definitely planning to sample the dinner menu; it looked very tempting. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. I brought my three-year-old, though, and our particular waiter was fantastic to him. Many of the other staff seemed very hostile towards him, though, especially the hostess. Our food was excellent, and the service was great. The ambiance in the space with the large windows and greenery was especially attractive and different from the normal restaurant. I love how they converted and reused an older space into a beautiful restaurant.
