  • "I really like the look and feel of this restaurant. Bar scene very vibrant. Decor is sophisticated steak house with a beach area feel. Food is very good though a little pricey for steaks cut grass fed and organic. That said, it's probably the best restaurant in the Laguna Beach area food and scenery for a night out. I'm from L.A. and brought guests from Texas here for a weekend in Laguna so maybe our standards and pricing for steak standards high. Loved all the vegetable plates and presentation. Our only negative which is small, was they use coffee pods that are watered down. Other than that, good time had by all."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and had a Great evening...The Food was Great, I had the Lobster and she enjoyed the Surf & Turf (Filet and Scallops). Everything was prepared to perfection....Our servers Vito and Steve were very knowledgeable about the wines and the entree's. This is a place I would return to for a Special Occasion (or even just a night out)...Also it was Very Cool to see all of Teemu's Olympic Medals on display....I highly recommend this restaurant"

  • "Our first visit to Selanne and we were disapointed. The service was impeccable and the valet parking was the best in my 86 years. Unfortunately the walls are hard finished making conversation very difficult because of the high noise level. We were seated at a 3' X 3' table and at times we could not hear each other. The food was tasty but our rare and medium rare steaks were medium rare and medium well done."

  • "We made reservations about two weeks in advance. Although we were seated immediately, we were given the small 2-top table by the kitchen - basically elbow to elbow with no room to move. We were also seated next to a family of 4 with two children. I had secondhand ADD. No one else was in this room during our entire dinner. Almost as awkward as when no one else is using the restroom and someone comes to use the urinal right next to you - neglecting the other ten open urinals! Other than that, the food was good and the service was attentive. I would come back and just hope for better seating."

After telling the waitress i was a big Selanne fan from Calgary alberta and she knew he wasnt going to be there she got me a signed card from him. Would recommend for everything.   • "Great food, friendly service and great ambiance. I brought my adult son, and two 4th graders. I ordered the "Lord Stanley Cup" for my oldest son and I to share, and I've never had a more flavorful, perfectly cooked and presented steak. The mushrooms were outstanding as were the mac n cheese, and sauces. The cheese plate was exceptional, and enjoyed by all. I was a bit concerned by the notation that this restaurant isn't for kids. I thought the kids menu was perfect, priced and portioned reasonably, and the staff was wonderful with them. My 10 year old son now has a new favorite restaurant. We will be back!"

Having said that, the experience surpassed any expectations I already had. The food is amazing! Chef Josh obviously knows his stuff and pushes the envelope with his dishes while keeping them traditional at the same time and Pastry Chef Heather is, simply, an artists!"

  • "This was our second visit to Selanne's and it was just as impressive as our New Years Eve experience. It is rare to find a five star restaurant that doesn't feel stuffy & snooty. Selanne's combines excellent, attentive service with the warmth & joy of a giant family reunion. We enjoyed cocktails at the full, lively bar before dinner. When it was time to be seated, we were taken to the beautiful heated veranda to enjoy a great view, cozy fireplace and more quiet, romantic setting. The food was perfection: we shared The Lord Stanley steak for our entree (it's huge!) that did not disappoint."

  • "This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food was exceptionally flavored and my gf felt it was the most delicious steak she had on our SoCal trip. The service was upbeat and very caring to your needs. We requested a table outside for the ambiance and without hesitation they provided us a table outside near the fireplace and the lighting was great. The assorted breads in the bread basket was amazing (the monkey bread served with caramelized banana in maple ice cream with caramel sauce was a no doubter). Joe, our waiter was superb and very energetic, just like many surfer dudes in SoCal. :)"

  • "We had an 8 o'clock dinner reservation which I made 2 weeks ago. When we arrived, the host wanted to put us in the bar area where it was very loud and with high table tops. When we told them we made a dinner reservation at the dining room, newer the less it is our anniversary; she said we have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes to get a table! We ended up leaving with great disappointment! Very unprofessional and bad customer service. We eat out 2 to 3 times a week. This place was recommended by a coworker. We were looking forward to the night, however turned out to be a bad experience before even try out the food!"

  • "It has been a long time since my fiancé and I have gone on a date since we just have a 5 month old baby. It was a nice get away. Everyone in the staff was super friendly and open to joking with us. The amazing service and staff helped make our trip super enjoyable, even when we asked them to put the hockey game on tv. The waiters kept checking up on us and it was great because even though they were super busy they found time to check on how our experience was. Once we got our food it was just amazing. The steak would just melt in your mouth even if the steak was well done."

  • "We arrived on time and as with other open table reservations we where put at a table by the kitchen and washrooms. We enquired about all the other empty tables but where told they where booked. Food was good not mouth watering great. We had a steak, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, 3 glasses of wine some bottled water and 3 deserts and the bill was over $250. Good thing we each didn't have a steak. When we left almost 2hrs later guess what all those tables remained open and where unused during our stay. I guess this is why the service is called open table."

  • "We really had a great time when visited Selanne Steak House. Food was exellent and there was plenty to choose from, also pricewisely. Variety of meats as could be expected, but also nice kids menu for smaller diners. The staff was friendly starting from the valet parking person to the owner Kevin,who generously preseted some of the Teemu's achievements to our kids. Interior was elegant. We would like to go there again, just the adults for a romantic dinner. On the other hand we did feel also at home when running around with kids, just in jeans and t-shirts. Wine list was impressive, also some really nice export beers were available. All in all, highly recommended to anybody who loves an elegant but cosy atmosphere and great food."

  • "Great food, wonderful atmosphere, service was great! We sat in the bar Athana, was our waitress. She was awesome! Also Selanne himself, Should up for his own dinner party. a boy about 13 years old had waited for him to come in. Selanne was so gracious, and kind to this kid. He didn't rush and made the kid feel very special. My husband and I enjoyed seeing the smile from ear to ear on this kid and it was great to see this perfessional athlete with his own busy schedule take the time to show so love."

  • "Like any new restaurant you always wonder if will actually prove to be a cut above. We weren't dissappointed. Everything about it was well done. From the greeting by the Valets to the rest of the experience. The food was excellent, my 16 oz. bone in filet was perfectly cooked and thequality spoke for itself. We dont like pretentious restaurants and this one bordered on it, however, our server Lisa's personable and attentive attitude brought it down to a very comfortable place. We were celibrating two birthday's and were not disappointed."

  • "The Selanne Steak Tavern was an outstanding recommendation from a friend. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. My wife and I shared the Lord Stanley which had good flavor and was generous. I would compare it to some of the Chicago steakhouses I used to frequent. However, I would suggest getting a couple of side orders to accompany the entre since I did not think that one was quite enough. My other suggestion would to sit in the dining room and not the bar area, unless you want to keep an eye on some of the sporting events."

  • "Felt like we were at someone's home that was just decorated by the wife. Hostess was useless. Ignored us for several minutes and tried to seat us outside when she already had that booked. No eye contact. Disorganized and they were not busy. Walked around the hallways to get seated upstairs. Waitress was great but nothing about the meal was memorable. This is a one and done for us. May be a good place for girls night out to have a glass of wine and salad."

  • "The ambiance/food/service of this place is off the charts! We dined for 4 hours, upstairs on the outdoor patio, and enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience...not once were we made to feel rushed. The chef is more than willing to work with any food allergies in order to please every palette. Every dish we ordered was delicious, from the Mushroom Risotto, to the Bison, to the Filets, to all the sides (which we shared). Can't say enough about the food! The best part of the evening was when Teemu stopped by our table and chatted it up! Also that evening, Getzlaf, Koivu and Beleski were sitting within ear shot. Dining with the Ducks - so fun! A must go for foodies and Ducks fans, alike!"
