  • "Very disappointing place. Service was poor but in an overly-attentive, un-trained way. Clearing appetizer plates before they we finished-clearing and setting at weird times. Drinks sat empty for 10 minutes. Pizzas were okay, trout was amazingly salty in certain spots - like they spilled it in spots. I love Chop house, Smittys, and Parkway - what is this place??? Seems like a restaurant that opened yesterday and can't figure itself out..."

  • "The new menu is a small one but a good one. The shrimp-pear salad is a high point. Smoked lavender vodka gimlets were AMAZING! We had the kobe burgers which were cooked exactly as ordered. Little sparse on the fries that came with them, maybe 10 shoestring fries on each plate. Added half a dozen cowboy oysters, fresh and tasty. The pork lettuce wraps are alright; pulled pork tasted like that you get pre-prepared for the microwave. The chicken wings were tasty with a little kick but 4 tiny wings for that price is a bit much. Would I come back? Yes, for the burgers and the gimlets. The wings, as I said, were good, just over priced for 4. Service was good once server got to us."

  • "We met friends for drinks and "hors d'oeuvres" on the patio, both excellent. Seco offers a wide range of superior whiskey, and whisky, and excellent cocktails, in generous portions. The street tacos and salads tended to be a bit spicy, but flavorful is always better than bland. The patio area was busy but not so noisy to make visiting problematic. I'm sure we'll return to try the dinner entrées."

  • "I have been there only twice and sat on the patio both times. Excellent. The hostess and the waitresses were outstanding, willing to modify our orders to suit little children and adult preferences. Fabulous. The inside is dark and noisy so I doubt I would want to sit there. They need larger bathrooms so you don't have to wait in the hall."

  • "We have always loved the Smith Brothers' restaurants and Seco, it's newest reconceptualization, was no exception. Regretfully, we were disappointed with the Father's Day Brunch menu and the unimaginative preparation of the dishes. We will probably not be back for brunch. Perhaps they should just offer a lunch menu as they have in the past..... The Huevos Rancheros were dull, the omelet bland and the breakfast potatoes uninspired. The bartender had difficulty making a Bellini -- a relatively common brunch cocktail. Very disappointing."

  • "great experience. We dined outside towards the large courtyard due to noise level inside. Started with poppers!!! The BEST!!! Seated next to some people who had their two dogs with them which we thought was rather charming.The wait staff was outstanding...the assistant manager, Eric? even got us an extra popper as there were 3 of us with only 8 poppers!"

  • "I've been a frequent diner at Parkway Grill so I decided to try Seco. The menu seems quite interesting and trendy (Kale salad). We sat outside on a perfect Pasadena day. The tacos (appetizers) were good. The kale salad also good. But both were missing depth of flavor. As the restaurant gets more experience, I look forward to seeing it improve. Thus far, good off the blocks. Pick up speed quickly, though."

  • "I loved this place when it was Crocodile Cafe and even liked it as Cafe 140 South. I do not think it's great as Seco. The service was outstanding but the food left me feeling like I wouldn't mind not going back again. The prices are higher now too. I ordered the chicken club and unfortunately a bone was left hanging off the side of my sandwich. This would have been much better as grilled chicken rather than pulled and doused with heavy green goddess dressing. My friend ordered a sauteed pasta dish that had shrimp. My first bite didn't thrill me and I thought it was bland. The best part of the meal was the fresh baked bread that I was happy to see they've kept."

  • " This site has been Crocodile Cafe, Bistro 145 and now Seco. I dined there regularly through the years. I will not be returning to this latest venture. Three ordered pizza. The crust was good. I ordered the woodfired roast chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes. The chicken was precooked, tasted like a Costco chicken and the mashed potatoes bordering on potato soup. The service was indifferent, once he found we were not ordering drinks. The menu is a blend of the former restaurants. We decided to skip dessert. The new decor is somber and sedate. The patio is still nice for outdoor dining and now has heat lamps and sun shades. That is the best part of the dining experience."

  • "The food was good, but not spectacular. Gazpacho was a disappointment as it was much more like salsa than soup. I like a chunky gazpacho but not a thick pasty one. My Kobe burger was excellent though. My husband liked his trout. The waitperson forgot our appetizer but made up for it with a dessert on the house. "

  • "Detailed note made with reservation about pre theater dinner at 5 pm plus 96 y/o disabled mother with mobility impairment.. Hostess persisted in arguing with my spouse about seating. Demanded we sit in the bar no doubt on a high stool while she had a nearly empty restaurant because she had a "large party " coming at 7 pm. We were due at the LA Opera by 645 to park. I strongly resent the fact that my mother with her bad knee was kept standing a good ten minutes (time from drop off to my arrival after parking in nearby structure). She should be fired. The wait staff was very good and the food well prepared and presented. If they did not have space, then should not have accepted reservation."

  • "I'd been to the restaurants formerly in this space, but not to Seco. For me, it was the best yet. The menu has good options, but so many that it makes you wonder if they can do them all well. The hosts and wait staff were welcoming and energetic. Special kudos to the restaurant manager, who is friendly and professional. I never had to ask for a refill on my iced tea because it came right on time. My friend and I both had burgers - solid burger. Good ingredients, good preparation. I'd try something different next time, but the food was fine. Everything came out quickly. This spot is great for lunch, and it'll be on the shortlist for the next date night with my wife."

  • "We've been a couple of times before to Seco, following its makeover from Cafe 140. We were stuck for inspiration on where to go Saturday evening and really it was a case of giving it one last try, having been disappointed with its slightly fussy, new dishes. The menu seems more appealing, going back to some of the old Cafe 140 favorites. We had the crusty bread with three very tasty sauces. We shared fish tacos as an appetizer, delicious, too. There was a Thai salad - very good, lots of crunch and bright flavors; a tuna burger - excellent - and there was a pasta arrabiata which I can't comment on as it disappeared very quickly. The service has also improved. Lively atmosphere - we liked it, but the noise level might be a bit high for some. "

Have been to this location under many business names and this was more modern - stark and dark decor - to me, not as inviting. We were in a comfortable booth. Waitress was sweet and accommodating to every wish. Chef has a way in making teach dishe with full flavors. Shall return! Gluten free menu available - would be nice to have some gluten free bread available, too - as do many East coast restaurants do. "

  • "First time here since 140 South became Seco. I'm a salad person; the chopped salad is delicious and the bread are delicious. And dessert! We couldn't choose, so we had two: warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch pudding, both outstanding. The menu, is extensive, and everything sounds like I'd like to have some right now. The decor is sophisticated, yet comfortable; modern, but also warm and inviting. The large floral arrangement that typify the group that owns Seco and other restaurants, are as beautiful as ever. This one's a winner. The complimentary valet parking makes everything so quick and easy. Definitely will be back."

  • "I really want to like this restaurant but I have had difficulities with the menu in the past. So when I got an email that the menu had been changed I tried it again. And there are more choices but for some reason nothing just hit me. I ended up with oysters (good) and Thai salad (good) but the service was slow; the manager (I'm guessing that's who it was--he had a suit on) greeted several people who had obviously been there before, but I only got a brief smile. I will try it again as I am a big fan of the Smith Bros. restaurants, and I really like the new design, especially the patio. I just hope there will be some more interesting additions to the menu in the future. There may have been some specials that night but"

  • "Flexible with small changes to price fixe menu. Knowledgeable waitress, good wine recommendation (Franciscan) for steak frites , good clientele mix not too young not too old , excellent steak frites dish as chef must know he got excellent cut of meat to put on price fixe menu, trout very good too. Hot cross buns nice touch to start. We didn't even need dessert. "
