  • "It was our first time at Seco, although we had dined at that location many times before. The interior has been completely redone and it's nice. The food was good. Our service was poor. The waiter asked if we wanted fresh ground pepper, we said yes, and he never brought it. We asked for our water glasses to be refilled...twice...and never did get more water. We will not return."

  • "Went to Seco for dinner Saturday night. Had been for lunch and was impressed by the menu. Returned and were blown away by our dinner. Fantastic cocktails. Best grilled artichoke we'd ever had. I had the grilled octopus and my husband the chicken paillard and both were fabulous. We will be back soon."

  • "I know this place since it was crocodile cafe which I still miss and my tostada salad, obviously the 145 cafe? was unmemorable, when I visited this one the first time I though ok they are trying to be NEW and different with bite, first and second, but then yesterday I saw the 'appetizers' again so I guess the playing w words didn't work, I do miss the bites though, the food still your average good food for lunch but no more, I got the salmon salad and my friend got the tuna sandwich and it took them a while to find something to replace her bread as she can't have dairy and the bread had cheese. I always like to sit outside especially now with more and more restaurant having their kitchen open the smell of the food get stuck on your cloths."

  • "space the Smith Brother's have given us --even though some careless things happened-- we ordered the roasted tomato soup and got the lobster bisque, which was delicious though a touch too salty. We asked for our two entrees to be brought out one at a time, so we could share and have wine. The pork belly was very greasy-- and there was no heat to it, even though it said chili glaze. All the other dishes we had were terrific ( curried mussel pasta, stuffed peppers, artichoke, and the soup.) Dessert-- chocolate tart was better than expected-- more like chocolate cake than a tart-- Our waiter did a great job pairing wine and overall taking care of us. We'll be back for sure-"

  • "A great surprise in my own neighborhood. The pizza is wonderful--perfect crust and flavorful toppings. Had the special soup which was perfect. The menu is varied to accommodate all kinds of tastes. The restaurant was very busy but the service was still great (which you don't always expect in a new restaurant). They brought us the wrong pizza and without missing a beat, said "sorry, we'll bring you the correct one" and they did, quickly."

  • "I ate at Seco a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I was in Pasadena for a play, I thought of Seco. This time I had the Penne Arribiata. It was excellent. Not too spicy. The sausage had really good flavor. And, of course, the best part of the meal was the carrot cake. Aaa-mazing!"

  • "Have eaten at the Smith Bros resturants for years, & wanted to try the new remodeled Seco, in a place that has had a couple makeovers. They seated us near the bar, & the server took our drink order promptly. My concern is that from ordering to paying the bill, it was basically 45 minutes. The food comes out fast, the busing staff "hovers" to take away plates, even though 30 secondes ago the same question was asked. Very un-relaxing. The food interesting, but they are trying to turn the tables way to fast. The resturant will sell itself, there wasn't but a couple of people waitng when we left. Would go back, but I would pace the food delivery much different. Keep food on the plates, if you want to keep the table"

  • "My wife's chicken was overcooked. I had the salmon dish and it was good. Our waiter replaced my wife's dish with another chicken dish that ws just OK. Pizza's on the other tables look good. Our waiter was good."

Did NOT like or understand why there are giant TV's set up.Menu is limited-maybe just temporarily until they become more established-made it a bit difficult to decide what to order. Best dishes that we had were the Grilled Artichokes and Butterscotch Pudding! Delicious."

  • "We took our friends last Saturday evening to celebrate one of their birthdays and we all thought this was a delightful restaurant. Beautiful and vibrant atmosphere, great food and fantastic service (even the manager stopped by our table to check in with us!) Well made cocktails, Napa Valley wine, appetizers, main course and desert were all superb. What caught all of our attention is the bar, beautifully lit from below, had hooks underneath to hang a purse - now that's a restaurant that is concerned with customer comfort! Will definitely be returning and also recommending this restaurant. Thanks Smith Brothers!"

  • "Went there for Valentine's Day (a day late) to try it out. Food absolutely wonderful! Our martini and gimlet perfect. Waiter very good indeed. Later (8 PM) reservation. by 8:20 or so the dining room almost emptied-out, but the bar roared on. It because very loud. I don't understand why with a beautiful, elegant interior design and first rate food is not enough. Televisions with their blue lights, competing sound and ability to attract diners' attention away from their friends, family or date destroy any kind of specialness of a dinner at a fine restaurant. . We shall come back for lunch when, hopefully, the TV's are turned off"

  • "A new restaurant in the Smith Group in Pasadena, this is a very special place. A relatively small menu, but great choices, including small and large plates. All dishes were terrific and the service was tops. Very upsacle decor, and handsome furnishings, but still very comfortable and casual."

  • "This restaurant, formerly 140 South and Crocodile Café, is still owned and operated by the same group. I loved the menu and way the food was prepared at 140 South. This make-over is aiming for more upscale dining and they have Mark Peel as the celebrity chef consultant. Some of the items are terrific and others are so-so. They are anxious to please and will re-do anything that is served and not to one's liking. The reason I only gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because the place is very crowded and we had to wait for a decent table. Apparently lots of people reserve and specify a certain table. Hence, when one arrives with a reservation one is seated in a less desirable location (i.e., right next to the kitchen or main thoroughfare.)"

  • "SECO has a great ambiance w/ a full bar. The 1st time service was slow. The manager stopped to apologize and gave as free drinks. This is what we call service! We order the crusty bread w/ 3 delicious sauce. When we ran out of the bread, the waiter brought more bread. We shared the grilled octopus on peruvuan bean. Delicious! For main course, we order the pork belly and the steak. Pork belly was very flavorful, but we wish there were more pork belly. We went the 2nd time to SECO during Dine in LA week. We didn't order the crusty bread, but SECO provide nice warm bread w/ butter. Kale salad was refreshing. Top Sirloin Steak was cooked perfectly to my liking. Chocolate lava cake was warm & the ice cream was amazing. Service was great too."

  • "We're fans of the Smith Brother restaurants and had high hopes. The service was very good, as is always the case at Smith Brothers restaurants. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations. My husband ordered the chicken, I ordered the salmon. My salmon tasted good, but about half the fish, where it was thicker, was raw. My husband said his chicken dish didn't taste great. Part of his issue was the sauce softened the skin, and he had hoped for crispy skin. Since I didn't want my salmon recooked, the manager took my wine off the tab, which was very gracious. The room is very loud, and lacks the ambiance of Smitty's and Parkway Grill. There is very much a family feel to the room."

  • "We love what the Smith Brothers have done to the menu at this wonderful patio-side location. I felt adventurous and ordered the pork - my companions all had variations of the many entree salads. The fresh grilled artichoke was perfection as an appetizer and I personally Loved the tempura style, cheese-filled peppers. We chose to sit on the patio, with its beautiful view of the fountain and the flames of the outdoor firepit on the far side of the courtyard. In Some places, you might not see your waiter very often, being their only outside client. Not at Seco! We were positively Pampered! Also noted that another party, that came just as we left, brought their dog, and he was welcome to sit quietly next to their table. Butterscotch pudding"

  • "I was excited to try the new incarnation of this Smith Bros. restaurant, but my expectations ended up being higher than the actual experience. The food was good, but not exceptional, although our group of 6 did like the ahi salad and the Cuban Sandwich. Very noisy at lunch time and slow, mediocre service. The siracha pepper poppers arrived lukewarm and mushy. We had to ask repeatedly for bread and water for our table. Good for lunch in the area, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it over other similar places."

  • "Seco has been open a little over a month. Food was good and service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and working to make it a great dining experience. The owner even came by and said "Hi". They have no Pinot Grigio on the wine list which is a disappointment for me but the waitress found some in the back but that won't happen next time. Grilled Ahi Sandwich was prepared perfectly and I would order that again."

  • "We went to Seco on Friday night for the first time. Loved it! Great vibe, cool new interior, darling waiter (very professional and recommendations were spot on) and really delicious food. My husband ordered the tasting menu (salmon, etc) and I had the trout. We finished with carrot cake, which I don't normally eat, but this was really fantastic. Prices are good- we thought everything was well worth what we paid. We will definitely go back to Seco!"

  • "We have frequented this place since it was crocodile cafe. It has evolved with the clientele. The atmospher is warm, it is quiet enough to carry on a private conversation and busy enough to be interesting. The current iteration is very pleasant, service was delightful and very respectful. Menu was varied enough to satisfy most tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail made to my order, the courses were served promptly but no rush. I had fettuccini wifey enjoyed something, I was busy and quite happy so i didn't pay much attention. Dessert was FANTASTIC! Never had such wonderful caramel! No recipe available, obviously house made and worth every calorie!"

I had the burrata appetizer and pizza blanca and it was very good (and extremely cheesy) and my bf had the wings appetizer and Kobe burger, which was also very good."
