Diner Reviews
  • "The food is outstanding. Wonderful combinations of ingredients."

  • "We went for dinner and overall had a very good experience. We arrived a few minutes late for our 6:45 reservation. We were seated immediately, however, we asked for a different table away from the air conditioning. I had the grilled peach & bleu cheese appetizer. It was delicious. The pork chop entree was expertly prepared, although the mushroom risotto was dry. The dessert sampler, had some hits & misses. The chocolate cake was dry & pretty tasteless, the berry cobbler was great."

  • "So rare today--a restaurant with the flexibility to accommodate what started as a reservation for two to a reservation for five and did it without a "hitch". Seasons' menu offerings, the standard and the special, had something for the vegetarian, the meat lover, the "seafood/fish only" and the rest of us. Service was unobtrusive but on the mark as well. A delightful evening."

  • "PERFECTION! The salty pancetta against the creamy sweet corn pesto with fresh tomato and basil - oh my goodness! This is real farm to table goodness!"

  • "We have been here for dinner twice. Very nice place overall. Excellent food, well thought out wine list featuring local and UCD alumni wineries. Although I feel they could keep the reds a little cooler, room temperature should be in the mid 60's not the typical room temperature of mid 70's but I am quibbling here. Service is great overall, but this last time we did ask several people to bring us a place setting for one of group that didn't have one. After 4 requests, we had to take one from the adjacent table. Otherwise, an excellent experience."

  • "We often stop at Seasons on our way home from San Francisco (to the Sierra Foothills) to dine. We love the relaxed atmosphere, the fresh, beautifully prepared dishes, and the good wine list - plus in August, all the bottles of wine are half off, so you can try that $95 bottle without a guilt pang. My husband had a gorgeous strawberries and cream soup that was light and refreshing, and we both had salmon, perfectly cooked, sitting on a wonderful salad of beets and other fresh things. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly--it's fine dining in a casual atmosphere and always enjoyable. Also there's a full bar, if that's of interest, with a notable selection of whiskeys and scotchs for after-dinner pleasure."

  • "We found the restaurant to be over priced for the quality of food we received. Both meals were not great but we still paid $90 and neither of us had any alcohol."
    Dined on 8/5/2014
  • "Great dish! Ahi, shrimp, clams, mussels and cod but the real winner was the fire roasted broth. Just the right balance of tomato, mild spice and buttery! They were also having half-off wine in Aug. Got a really nice bottle of chardonnay for the cost of two glasses."

  • "I had the skewers of Tiger prawns and pasta. It also had cubes of ham and mushrooms in a runny, acidic, white wine sauce. It was difficult to eat and the dish lacked character and no vegetables accompanied my dish. Dish needs a makeover or remove it from menu. Coffee shop ambience with fine dining prices. I know food and this was an experience worth mentioning because it is one that either the chef modifies and makes it palatable or removes it from the menu."

  • "Very reliable place for business dinners. Took visitors from Thailand. They seemed to enjoy it. A bit noisy. Service is prompt. Nice wines. I have had the duck or lamb before and really liked them. Tried the chicken this time. Not bad, but I was hoping for a real quarter of chicken not just the breast, but I suppose that is matter of taste."

  • "We have been quite a few times, with the same conclusion - over priced for the food. We go on Thursday for the half price wine. So with a $25 Pinot, plus a shared salad, risotto for me and turkey meat balls for my wife, the bill was $90. It did not pass my "home" test i.e. I could make it at home myself easily. So not good value. The more serious main courses are at the $30 to $35 level, definitely not justified."

  • "We both liked the grilled peach appetizer which was a different start for the meal. My guest was pleased that the duck breast she ordered was moist and flavorful. The shrimp and pasta main dish I ate was a bit dry, but tasty."

  • "The Seasons Restaurant offers some very upscale food at very moderate prices in a college town noted primarily for fast food and chain restaurants. There are daily specials along with a good array of their standard menu. The specials include a separate meat and a fish selection. Standards include a pasta, a Kobe Beef Hamburger, great salads and soups, especially their corn soup. The servers are very attentive to detail. Their bread is good, but their breadsticks are even better!! Reservations are highly suggested as this place fills up fast!"

  • "Everything was wonderful, though we missed the amazing Bruschetta from the precious specials. The only downside was the large, loud group on the patio. They pretty much spoiled the meal for everyone else on the patio. It interfered with our meal even after we moved away from them. Seasons has a back room. Perhaps they should insist on large groups using it, rather spoil the dinner for every other customer dining on the patio."

  • "Seasons is our destination for celebratory business lunches. Food was fresh and delicious. I always look forward to the seasonal change in menu. Early summer offerings like Sweet Corn Bisque and crisp salads were wonderful."

  • " I was so happy to see that Seasons has added some great vegetarian dishes. The Seasons "Club" sandwich was made with a delicious portobello and I loved it!"

  • "We came here with a group for a graduation celebration -- we had a great time, and the food was wonderful!"
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The decor is traditional, maybe a little old-fashined leaning toward a chain restaurant atmosphere. The service was good but maybe a little rushed (but we dined at Seasons on Graduation Day/Father's Day so our experience may have been atypical). The food was good, but a little pedestrian. I expected a little more because of the high prices."

  • "I had quite the mix of attendees at our daughter's graduation. When we arrived, the table was ready and the hostess was very helpful in accommodating 2 extra guests that we had not planned on. The severs were very professional and never rushed us through the meal. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. It was the perfect dinner for a very special evening and everyone had a great time."

  • "Seasons lives up to the great reviews that prompted me to make this reservation for my daughter's UC Davis graduation dinner. We ordered champagne and appetizers, wines and a wonderful assortment of entrées. Our meals were fresh and flavorful. Our party of eight had a delightful evening."

  • "We were visiting Davis for our niece's graduation and LOVED the restaurant. Close to our hotel. The food and service were excellent. If we had more time, we would have gone to the restaurant the following night as well We wanted to try everything on the menu. We would highly recommend this neighborhood gem."

  • "While my wife continues to enjoy Davis' Seasons, I continue to find it odd that she does. When we go out for dinner, I want food that is better prepared than I can prepare at home. I had their Sat special lamb shoulder which was set on a simple 'bed' of spaghetti with marinara sauce and peas. While it was fine it wasn't tasty, special, or particularly good. She had some more dry than moist chicken with a mound of mashed potatoes. While our sever (Eve) was excellent, the food was only OK for the price. My sense is that I may have won her away from this place which, for whatever reason, is choosing not to be a great restaurant."

  • "I've always depended on Seasons for a special dinner and brought out of town friends who enjoyed the evening. However, one vegetarian didn't find much to select from the menu, and our service was sketchy at times. We needed to "catch" our server when additional drinks were needed, and at times asked the water server to find him. It could be a rare under staffing event, but eventually caused disappointment. The appetizers arrived quickly and timing of entrees was just right. The food was delicious all around and I especially recommend the bread pudding! "

  • "Seasons is our first choice for carefully planned special moments as well as a light meal on the spur of the moment. Our experience has always been excellent. The staff is the most professional, welcoming and knowledgeable in town. The food is fresh, seasonal and innovative while keeping the focus on quality rather than distracting with gimmickry. "

  • "Do you want to celebrate an event and not go to Sacramento? Seasons is your destination. The service is impeccable and the food is definitely prepared by a chef. "

  • "I have eaten at this restaurant 3 to 4 times before and it was outstanding. However this time I made reservations via open table and then after I got my confirmation back Seasons called me and told me that they did not have a spot at 6:30 pm but could fit us in at 7:15 pm. No worries, but by 8:00 pm still did not have a table we left and went to the Buckhorn in Winters, CA and had a excellent meal. I understand that it was UC Davis graduation that night, but Seasons could have just told us they did not have any openings. Will be a while before I return or suggest Seasons to my many corporate accounts that come to the area"

  • "After trying several restaurants in Davis before going to the Mondavi, this was definitely our favorite. The food was delicious, the service most accommodating and efficient, and our only criticism was the noise level. Since this was our first visit we didn't know much about where to ask to sit. We were advised that if we wanted a more quiet place to enjoy our meal, we should try a corner booth next time, which we will do. Also the patio would be more quiet I think, but it was too warm this visit to sit outside. Also, the train which goes by near the restaurant might be a factor outside, but I couldn't say. We'd definitely recommend Seasons and go there again."

  • "Though very busy, Seasons put on a great Mother's Day brunch"

  • "Mimosas had way too much orange juice in them. Appetizers were great. Food only just OK."

  • "Great service but you pay for it. Brunch for 3 was over $130. Food was good. Service always excellent. "

  • "Bad day to go to a restaurant for the first time. Mother's Day. The wait staff was visibly very stressed out and inattentive. I had to ask for my drink after ordering it 15 min earlier. When I asked for my one glass of champagne after waiting for 15 min., the waiter rushed off to the bar and did not have the drink when he came back and told me that the bartender is backed up. Who does that? The restaurant must have made a killing that day. For $18 you got 2.5 ounces of salmon, mash and greens. The salmon tasted good, but the rest of the experience cancelled out my 2.5 ounces of salmon. If the management didn't have all employees and managers working on Mother's Day, they should have. Noise level: Very noisy."

  • "For the prices they charge, the food and service should be much better. Also, the portions are small (except for the pancakes)."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I have tried this restaurant 3 times now. My first visit was poor. I tried a second time and it was okay so I took my mother for Mother's Day. Our order came out in about five minutes. The steak was inedible. We sent it back. The replacement came out about 15 minutes later. My mother's eggs where cold and the steak was just a slab on a large plate. Horrible presentation. I was so disappointed. Then they tried to charge us twice for her meal. Her toast was dry and we had to ask for butter. There were at least 3 wait people on our table and no one knew what the other one was doing. Considering it was Mother's Day, it would have been very nice if they had at least had flowers on the table. I will never return. Three time you are out!"

  • "The food was delicious. Minor mix-up on the drink (and server didn't believe me, which was weird) but otherwise a great experience."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food was fine--not outstanding but not awful. The clam chowder was tasty but a bit thick. The ahi salad wasn't what I expected--seared ahi, and tuna as in tuna salad, but no greens. The our waiter and hostess were very nice. Pretty noisy. "

  • "The food was very good, medium pricey, with some unusual choices. The service was excellent. For some reason the place was almost empty during Wednesday lunch."
    Dined on 5/7/2014
  • "I met a friend here and we ate on the patio. Service was most attentive, and when I asked for some bread, it arrived promptly. I had the special, Pasta with mussels and fresh peas and bacon. It was very good, although some of the pasta was slightly undercooked and several pieces were stuck together. I wish the mussels had been a bit larger - many of them had come away from their shells, so it looked like there weren't any! Iced tea refills were regular and appreciated! We sat a long time and were not rushed - it may have been that there were many empty tables and it never was very full. We've met here many times and will continue to do so in the future."

  • "Very good service and tasty meals. The specials were noteworthy."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "The food and wine are priced on the high side and although the cooking is good, it is not imaginative or exceptional and does not justify the relatively high prices. There are better values and this price point more interesting options in Sacramento, unfortunately not in Davis."
