My partner and I wanted to avoid the Asheville holiday parade crowds, so we decided to spend the afternoon in Flat Rock, and chose Season's for that reason. The server was kind/savvy enough to warn me that the local red wine I was thinking of ordering was on the sweet side, and when he brought me a taste, it was indeed too syrupy for me. (Ended up with a well-made Old Fashioned, followed by a local IPA; the server also brought to us a taste of a chocolate red wine from the same vineyard, and that was interesting enough for my companion to order a full glass of that.) I had the duck confit and mushroom ravioli; the kitchen allowed my companion (who does not eat red meat) to substitute artichoke risotto for the confit potatoes that are usually plated with the flounder.

My wife and I regularly go out on double dates with other couples to interesting destinations. This was our first time to ever eat at Season's and it met all of our requirements for a great destination. Our table was nicely located on what seemed to be a glassed in veranda surrounding the restaurant. The waiter pleasant, competent and unintrusive. The food was very high quality, tasty and interesting. I loved the Carrot Ginger Bisque that I had for a starter. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for good conversation to catch up with long time friends.

The food was delicious (as good as first visit two years prior!) and our waiter was a credit to the restaurant: polite, knowledgeable and efficient, plus the same waiter we encountered on that first visit, so good to know Seasons has longevity with its staff. All most impressive. The table at which we were seated left a bit to be desired, situated in a window adjacent to the front door/porch on which departing & arriving guests would linger and stare! Rather unnerving and not at all conducive to a relaxed & romantic dinner. Still, that aside, we would definitely recommend the restaurant to everyone, but just ensure you request a seat in the dining room area to the right hand side of the reception (not the conservatory-style add).

We brought my 85 yr. old mother here for her birthday lunch, last June and she loved it. SO.... bringing Dad and Mom for a special occasion like their 66th wedding anniversary was an easy sell. All of the family members able to attend were impressed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks for making it a very special day!

Entering the Highland Inn grounds is like going back in time and the Season's restaurant amplifies this vibe. It's a really charming place in a beautiful and secluded forest setting, yet is not far from major roads. The service was cordial, though neither speedy nor particularly attentive (few checks on our needs or satisfaction). Prices were fair for a wide range of dishes and our meals were nicely prepared and presented, and quite tasty. Our party would return for a change of pace from more urban dining.

Highland Lake Inn is tucked away behind a small dam at the entrance to historic Flat Rock. Seasons, the restaurant, has views from every table if you dine during daylight hours. The waitstaff are friendly and professional. The menu and beverage list is not too extensive but not limited either. Take time to wander through the beautiful gardens after you dine. Good parking area and the building is handicapped accessible. My friend and I dined at Seasons on October 17, prior to visiting the Sandburg Home. I had requested a table with a view, not realizing that every table had a view. Our server, Angie L, was delightful and attentive. Oh, yes...our food: a Reuben & the Portabella...very good!

Seasons at Highland Lake is a step back into the time of elegant country club dining. The menu is seasonal and makes good use of local ingredients. It is limited but that does mean that each dish should be close to perfection. I am glad to say they are. We had the heritage pork chop and the rib eye special. Both were excellent. I do have to say the grain mustard spaetzel may be the best spaetzel we have had. The wine list complements the menu very well. The staff, especially Jimi was excellent. Overall this is a dining experience that shouldn’t be missed.

As people who frequently dine in upscale restaurants, I feel confident in saying that we know what great food is---and Seasons definately did NOT deliver. What sounded delicious on the menu actually was very mundane when presented at the table. Prices are high ($11 for appetizer, $31 for entree) for what was a very ordinary meal. Decor is lost somewhere between the late 70's---early 80's. This restaurant came highly recomended by Tripadvisor readers, but I can't image why. We won't be going back----ever.

I had booked reservations ahead of time noting both that the evening was for my husband's birthday and that he was allergic to onions. Upon being greeted by the server she acknowledged both pieces of information. However, when she brought the bread---onion focaccia---she placed the basket in front of me, saying, "this is for you only." We both thought that was odd and wondered why a plain roll had not been offered to my husband. My main entree, the grilled halibut was lovely. My husband asked for medium well steak, but it was unfortunately akin to leather. The ambience was lovely. Overall, the evening was mixed.

We were vacationing and not sure if we'd be back to our cottage in time for dinner, so we made the reservation late. The location was beautiful, very romantic. The hostess was very personable, but professional and very helpful giving us some other options for dining in the area.
