Seasonal Restaurant and WeinbarVienna in NYCWhat a delightful find. A quiet little romantic gem that brought us back
to Vienna without the long flight and jet lag.
The smoked Artic Char appetizer was amazing as was the lobster and
and poached egg. Wiener schnitzel the size of manhole covers but as
tender as butter. Kaiserschmarn!
This is going to be our MUST GO TO place whenever we are in NY.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA quiet Monday NightWent there on a quiet Monday night. Wait staff was attentive and very polite, even encouraging us to stay longer to finish our wine.
Food was good. There are some bold combinations in their dishes which really reflects the chef's attempt to push boundaries. Every thing was cooked very well and the flavors, though new, seemed to work. A foodie would definitely enjoy.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Taste of Austria in the USASeasonal hits the spot for anyone looking to connect with, or rekindle, Austrian cuisine.
Heartily recommend this mid-town Manhattan gem!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet place. Excellent food.I have eaten many times here and food and service has been consistently excellent.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is fine and creativeThis is fine and creative Austrian cuisine with a wine list to match. A little on the expensive side, but worth it. The prix fixe for lunch is a great deal and very economical if wine and coffee is avoided. The wait staff is patient and knowledgeable.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAustria at its bestHervorragende österreichische Küche, die wir sehr genossen haben. Große und gute Weinauswahl. Gott sei Dank keine übergroßen Portionen, wie es sonst in Österreich üblich ist. Sehr netter und kompetenter SErvice.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fabulous, serviceFood was fabulous, service was excellent. Staff was very friendly.
What more can you ask?4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe opened the place for dinnerWe opened the place for dinner because we had 7 PM show tickets, so it was very quiet. Wine list is almost exculsively European wines. We went with the waiter's recommendation, which was fine--an Austrian wine akin to chardonnay. We both got teh Wiener Schnitzel, which was very good, although not as good as we've had in Vienna at Figmuller's (sp?). This is a good option if you have early Broadway show tickets since it's in easy walking distance.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVienna's best in NYWonderful presentation of contemporary Austrian cuisine. Every dish was perfectly crafted and presented. The white asparagus salad was outstanding as was the masterfully prepared "Tafelspitz" (boiled beef). From Kaisergoulash to the Kaiserschmarn for dessert everything was as good as could be had in Vienna and possibly even better. Wine slections paired perfectly and a wonderful, relaxing time was had by all.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend's filet mignon wasMy friend's filet mignon was outstanding, perfectly prepared as she requested, medium rare. She's tasted steaks in many of the best steak houses, but said this was the best she's ever been served. I ordered the wiener schnitzel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The coating was light and not greasy and I could taste the veal which was tender. The sides that came with each of the orders were not typical and they were delicious plus well suited for the entree. Cucumber and potato salads at Seasonal are prepared so they are light. The staff was very helpful and appropriately attentive. The owner came by at the end of our meal to ask us about it and share a glass of sweet wine. Have to say that added an exclamation point to a wonderful dinner!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely knowledgeable, friendly,Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive maitre'd and wait staff. Food was very good, smoked Arctic Char, Spatsle, soft poached egg, soup, and dessert were all wonderful. Excellent wine list although a little expensive. Very comforting, stylish, and calm ambience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, attentiveExcellent food, attentive service, and relaxed atmosphere. Carta pequeña pero excelente . Muy tranquilo . Para volver . Calidad internacional4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAustrian fine dining at it´s peakIt´s a really Fine-Dining restaurant how you expect it from New York upper class. The food was Outstanding and the Wine was presented very professional. The only thing is that the Tables are to high for the seats ,but within a few minutes you do not realize it any more.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place! We haveI love this place! We have eaten here many, many times and will keep coming back. One important attribute of Seasonal is its consistency. The menu changes only slightly, so you can reliably expect to always find the Wiener Schnitzel, the Tafelspitz, the poschiertes Ei, etc, etc. There are some seasonal additions (eg, we had a white asparagus salad), but mostly we are talking about superbly executed Austrian cuisine.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMModern twist revitalise andModern twist revitalise and lighten "Austrian" classic dishes and introduce new ones.
Great wine list (some research beforehand will enable you to find the better priced bargains.)
A small, cosy space perfect for romantic and quiet meals where the purpose is food, wine and good conversation.
In an area lacking good quality, non-touristic restaurants, this really stood out.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSo good, we went back theSo good, we went back the next day for lunch to try what we missed the night before.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSeasonal serves up authentic,Seasonal serves up authentic, modern, and classy Viennese food perfectly executed and, for their $30 lunch pris fixe, really reasonable! My meal: spring onion soup (the broth was like an onion soup but much more floral, reminiscent of spring; the peppery beef at the bottom of the bowl gave heat and warmth, a reminder of the winter just past), flat iron cooked in an oxtail consomme (the flat iron was fall apart tender and juicy and consomme was amazingly flavorful; it came with a little potato cake, lightly fried and three sauces - spinach, apple, and horseradish), and the sacher torte (rum soaked, not too sweet and completely delicious).4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAn unpretetious GEM.Fantastic Food, service and atmosphere. The service is prompt without any delay. It offers a formal dining experience but with a very friendly down to earth atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and the service is outstanding. The food was spectacular and the presentation immaculate. We had a question about food and were amazed to find that that the Chef (Wolfgang) himself came to your table to answer any queries you have. He was gracious answered all our questions patiently and we ended up spending almost 2 h after our dinner just enjoying the drinks and atmosphere. We will be back for a culinary delight again very soon.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI travel to Germany often.I travel to Germany often. I love German food. I have never had better. I will be back. The dining area isn't special. But the food is worth it.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommended for people,Highly recommended for people, who wants to try something outstanding.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal In all respectsWe had an exceltopnql experience at Seasonal Restaurant. Food was superb. Light and elegant version of traditional Austrian-German fare. Schnitzel had flaky light crust and spaetzle was in lightly flavored white sauce. Appetizers were beautiful and tasty. Poached egg with lobster foam and arugula salad both top notch.
Service was responsive and informative about ingredients and menu and wine choices.
Setting was white and black and gray simple. Nothing fancy but focus was on food and service.
We will definitely go to seasonal on our next trip.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Austrian CuisineThanks to the Seasonal Team we had an amazing evening at their place. The food was authentic and simply fantastic. The Spätzle and Wiener Schnitzel we had were amazing. Got to talk to the owner for a bit, he is such a nice guy!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully prepared and beautifullBeautifully prepared and beautifully presented food. Small portions, but delicious.
