We ate at SeaSalt in the offseason for Cape May and it was fantastic. The food was fresh and expertly prepared. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is so different, in a good way, from its surroundings that it adds to the experience.

This was my second visit to sea salt and would def go back... Had a rough start when we were seated, they seemed to forget us for about 30 mins but they completely made up for it by apologizing and comp'ing our first round. Food was outstanding! Only thing I was disappointed by was that the menu hadn't changed since last visit a few months ago. First time had the lamb- which was outstanding! This time had the scallops which were great as well! The burnt honey ice cream is to die for!!!

My wife and I ate here for first time, and found the food and service superlative. We are tough judges, hard to get five stars from us. The dishes were all amazing. Prices high but comparable to other Cape May restaurants, all of which seem to be a bit pricey. Good wine list including several by the glass. A great experience - we will be back.

Very nice restaurant, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. We brought a bottle of champagne and they charge a $25 uncork fee. We shared shrimp cocktail, fresh jumbo shrimp, cocktail sauce needs more kick. We also shared lobster ravioli which was also good and fresh. Fruit flies around the table were annoying and wound up in my water glass. For entree, I had an overpriced rib eye, with great sauce and potatoes, my wife had the scallops and really enjoyed them. Desserts were very good too. Staff was really nice, my wife felt the meal was a little rushed, but I didn't. I probably would not go back again only because there are so many other places to try.

Though they don't take Discover credit card....(LOL), it was very good. The four of us had great meals. The drinks are very good. Service very nice. It has a cool ambiance. For my app, I had smoked trout with beats in a salad like concoction that was server on 3 different lettuce slivers. Shrimp cocktail used large shrimp (They looked like 6's to me). I'm not sure what the other 2 ate but they were delicious. My entree was red snapper that was cooked very well. Another person had a 30d aged steak that was soooo good. I'm not really sure what the other two ate but they loved it. Ginger creme brulee with real ginger cookie was top notch. Great place

As regular attenders, we always experience a consistently high level of service and cuisine. Chef Lou and Amy run a house aimed at the demanding customer, with every item on the menu presented and served at the right temperature, with an exacting amount of finesse and sophistication of taste. Chef Lou adds a creative asian edge to many of his dishes, pulling out the more subtle, yet satisfying nuances of eastern flavors, sauces and spices, while honoring the taste, freshness and well prepared meat, fish, or other base of the item. We have had EVERYTHING on the menu, and still return for more. Amy keeps a careful eye on the house, ensuring all customers are attended to. The wine selections are eclecticly well suited to the menu.

  • Cape May fine dining at its best!

This was our first time staying overnight in Cape May despite many day trips over the years during our North Wildwood summer vacations. We googled 'fine dining' to locate SEA SALT. Most of the reviews were glowingly complimentary and after dining there well deserved. Our male waiter was professional and cordial in his service. We ordered a bottle of Moscato wine which went well with our entrees and was seamlessly served at timely intervals by our waiter. My partner had the 28 DAY-AGED RIB EYE, red wine reduction, grilled scallions, roasted yukon gold potatoes; I had the SQUID INK INGUINE FRA DIAVOLO, clams, mussels, squid, spicy tomato sauces. Both meals were incredibly well prepared, ample in portion and of the highest quality. A must do!

We read positive reviews and thought we'd give this place a try. Either these guys just had a bad night or the other reviewers were crazy. It was AWFUL! Service was confused. Food was bland and of poor quality. Room is like a gym. Can't say anything good except the busboy kept my water glass full.

Don't come here for seafood. Food was the worst I ever had. They serve the most disgusting frozen seafood out there. We made a mistake ordering the rock shrimp and calamari there was no seafood but all breading. I took my gf there on her bday hoping we will have a wonderful dinner there but were so disappointed. The yelp reviews were definitely inaccurate and the horrible dinner totally ruined my gf's bday. Bottom line do not go there!!

Went for dinner after Labor Day so not as busy, had a seat right next to the window looking out at the beach, service wonderful (did not rush us through dinner but attentive), cool music (French café style), wonderful drinks (strawberry lemon drop), the best scallops in town, amazing desserts. Definitely one of the highlights of our vacation to Cape May.

My husband and I visited for the first time while on vacation, and we each had the 5 course chef's tasting menu. It was one of the best meals I've ever had! Well worth the price, more food than you can imagine, and each course just got better and better. What might seem like a lot price wise is well with it! We sat outside, which was beautiful. The service was prompt and easy going, not rushed at all. Each course was prepared to order (even risotto), which allowed some recovery time between courses. Highly recommend!

The menu is interesting with a good selection. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed the live music. The disappointment was that the service was very slow. The wait staff was friendly but the food took 15-20 longer than it should have to arrive (& the restaurant was not full). When it came it was delicious. But the wait between courses was hard to understand. Best to go when you have plenty of time for dinner.

In Cape May for vacation. Like to try new places so we tried SeaSalt. We opted for the 5 course so that everyone could try different things. Unfortunately the staff was unprepared and uninformed about how it worked. Although the food was impeccably prepared, it was not plentiful. As a family of 5, each food item included 5 servings. No more, no less. So we each had one crab bite, etc. there were a lot of courses so we we didn't leave hungry. The deserts were a complete disappointment. The ambience was very loud and unwelcoming, and the wait staff uninformed and clumsy. Won't be back, even if the veal chops were wonderful.

Friday night, table for 4: on Open Table I could not request an outside table or an ocean view, either of which were available when we arrived, but were kept empty I presume for those who had reserved them. Instead our table was next to a 3 year old who kept throwing his toys. Appetizers (fried calimari, some tiny fried shrimp and eggplant) brought out well before our cocktails. The main courses (all tasty fish dishes) were lukewarm. No bread was served with our dinners although one dish had sauce. Desserts were delicious. It can be difficult to find an ocean view restaurant in Cape May on a Fri night last minute so we might go back and give this place another try. It has potential to be better. Decor was just ok but location is great.

When we arrived, we were taken to our table but not given a menu. About 5 minutes later the waiter realized we didn't have them, so we brought them over then proceeded to make us wait about 15 minutes before returning (it wasn't a busy night). Took our drink order, and brought one of the wrong drinks. Didn't charge for it, and let me try what he did bring. It wasn't great though. There were no specials or additions to the menu. The waiter said "no, it's boring tonight.." Meal was great as were the sides and dessert, along with the view.

Hostess was a bit rude to my friend when she only ordered water and app until my arrival ten minutes later but then seemed fine. Service still a bit slow overall. To their credit they did honor a reservation that we made on open table but they didn't have on the correct day. Sea scallops and halibut were both good. Halibut came in a base of broth that made it a bit too mushy but flavorful. Ambience very nice but a bit loud inside.

Wonderful experience. From the first bite to the last, this was one of the most enjoyable meals we've ever had at a Cape May eatery. I had the scallops and my wife had halibut. For dessert we had mocha cheese cake and my wife had the strawberries and cream napoleon. We asked to sit outside to enjoy the ocean view. Great ambience. Noise level isn't too loud. A jazz band played. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that my wife ordered coffee with dessert, but never received it. The waiter explained that the coffee was served with a french press and they didn't have enough because everyone ordered dessert at the same time. Seriously? They don't have enough french press to accommodate a restaurant full of people.

The menu read very well, which is why it was a top contender when deciding where to go for date night. Nothing we ordered was terrible, but nothing was great either. Everything was underseasoned and not well executed. For the price point, we left extremely dissatisfied. We do not mind spending $30+ for entrees, when they warrant that price.

This was the most disappointing experience we had this summer. It was rated highly so we looked forward to it. The best parts were the attentiveness of the waitstaff and Mango Mojito. The clams on the half shell were the size of my pinky joint. The ribs were over spiced. The noise level was very high. There were no relatively quiet areas to choose from. In the same room as diners who were in small groups sat a table with a party of 30. If the room were more noise -proofed it might have been OK but all in all lots of improvement needed.
