we went here for lunch during a meeting at the San diego convention center. It was so loud that it was not possible to have a conversation at the table. the food was not exceptional. Service was OK. we asked for a quieter table and the hostess just shrugged. Would not go back or recommend to anyone else.

We had a group of 7 at the Searsucker on a Saturday night - 3 people from the company I work for and 4 people from a company that is a prospective client. The ambiance was perfect - it felt like a nice place to take clients without being too pretentious. The food was all around good - cheese biscuits had a nice little kick that was fun. Only complaint is that it was really, really loud so it was hard to hear across the table and definitely hard to have one conversation between 7 people. We ended up having 3 mini conversations. Not sure if it's always like this, but definitely something to keep in mind.

We chose this place because of Top Chef Brian M. We were not disappointed. Our waiter Casey was extremely friendly and knowledgable. As soon as he knew I couldn't handle spicy foods, he recommended choices that would fit my pallet. Spot On!! Every dish we both had was yummy!! That braised short rib was excellent! Service was amazing. I highly recommend for everyone.

"Searsucker" was hopping for a Thursday night and the service and food were excellent. With a group of 6 we enjoyed sharing a greater variety of food but not the conversation, the place was loud. There wasn't a miss in any of the small plates or entrees we enjoyed. The meat eaters and vegetarians both left very happy. Our server went out of his way to help our picky eater and she was thrilled with her artichoke special. Next time we are in town will definitely go back!

This (and only) time server was not helpful. I had to drag information about the menu from him. It ruined my previous experience with the restaurant. That, in addition to not being able to hear a thing. I'll spend my money somewhere else.

I love Searsuckers for the amazing food, service and restaurant decor. However the chairs are horrible!! I know it seems like a small thing but when you're paying a premium price for food and cocktails you want to be comfortable. It's like sitting on patio furniture. And because we like to order appetizers, cocktails, dinner and dessert we are there for quite awhile so the chairs are actually very important. Upgrade your chairs and barstool cushions please!

This restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter is super easy to get to and was packed on a Thursday night. We ordered cocktails and small plates to share but most of the food we ordered I felt lacked flavor. My favorite was the beet salad and the beef tartar. I thought the crab cake was too fishy a flavor and the bone marrow was flat tasting. The cheddar puffers served complimentary to the table, were delicious. The service was slow and inattentive and the server didnt seem too interested in providing any recommendations of what she enjoyed on the menu. I feel there are more enjoyable places along the street with better tasting food and better service.

I made reservations online, they were confirmed via email, and everything went so smoothly with respect to getting a table. No waiting on hold... The service was phenomenal: the waiter knew the menu well, made excellent suggestions re: appetizers, main dishes and wine. He also was knowledgeable about the restaurant and appeared vested in his job! Great location for a group dinner with excellent food, spirits and service!

Awesome experience - wonderful selection and combination of foods and preparations. The drinks were just as good with their own infused gin and vodka as well as fabulous signature drinks - all natural. Well worth experiencing - everyone in the restaurant were very attentive and personable which made it lots of fun as well. Overall wonderful!

We were party of 8 we almost tried most of the 1 page menu, there is no variety and so crowded. so let me be fair begin with the good things 1-Appitiezers as really good we enjoy every plate. 2-Main dish is not that great so recommend to go with app. if you can. 3-We order the following fillet , scallop , chicken and steak for main disk. Here is the bad thing (we notice that they can't cook meat one of our plate went twice to the kitchen because it was rare and we asked for medium well. Don't except high end like this restaurant would do that.

There is no wonder why this is billed as the best restaurant in San Diego. Will be back soon!

3 out of four dishes were great, but we paid $30-$35 per dish and had to pay extra for a side? Music was so loud we had to yell to one another and our table was pushed so close to where the cooks pick up food that my husband chair kept getting kicked. My $14 salad came on a small plate and the lettuce was wilted. It went back, but the waitress wasn't that thrilled with me? They had a million staff on duty and we waited forever for our drinks and to be greeted by our waitress. She said hi a,d then we didn't see her for another 15?

The waitress was excellent and the wine list interesting. Food was well done and good for our vegan friend. Had interesting decor and felt warm and friendly. Was too loud to talk, blasting music when only a few diners were there and increasingly loud with more people. Could not conduct business at all and almost asked to turn down the music when we first arrived. Not romantic, but very fun.

Reser for 6pm prior to concert, Sept 28th. Tables seemed to added - it was near the kitchen and in the waiters path. Had to move my chair to the side of the table to keep waiters from hitting the back of my chair. The noise level (yelling in the kitchen) would be better described as chaotic rather then energetic. We enjoyed the wine but our meals were not served until about 6:50. One meal- the Ono, was the driest fish ever. My meal - the steak - the rub was good but the quality of the meat just was not there - It was not tender. Both sent back. Our waitress was attentive and apologetic and the manager as well but based on the overall experience not sure I would give them a second chance. We were only charged for our wine.

My husband and I like to dine out, and we like good food. We don't mind spending money, but we expect to get what we pay for. Searsucker seems to be a SD Magazine darling, and so we thought the food and service would be worth the $35+ per plate cost. It was not. My scallops were good, if a bit undercooked, but nothing outstanding. The couscous they were served on was bland. Our friends both got the filet, and it was filet. Not bad, not good. Definitely not special. My husband got the thresher shark, and that I must say, was the stand out. The side dishes (snap peas and brussel spouts) again were nothing special. The appetizer salads, again, nothing special. Our bill with tip came to about $300. I would have been more satisfied at In and Out

The bottomless mimosas are honestly just a nice bonus. It's all about the food. We went for my wife's birthday -- 20 folks which included kids, aunts, and friends. We ordered one of every brunch item and shared. Everything was really really good. Even the mushroom / veggie omelet was good (although i didn't go back for a second bite of that -- not when there was tasty chillaquiles, pork belly hash, green eggs and ham!

I don't know if it was because we booked through Open Table and not the restaurant directly (like the secret bad rooms you get when booking through priceline)? I had booked over a week in advance and they tried to sit us next to a very busy door to the kitchen. Luckily we got there before the clients we were entertaining; so I had time to object and get re-seated. We were then rudely told we had to finish in 1.5 hours, but the server did not rush us, thank goodness. The meal was very good and I have food allergies and our server and the chef were very helpful. They went the added step of marking up the menu for what I could have. We regularly go to Herringbone a sister rest. If we didn't know this chain we might not consider going back.

We have heard great and negative stories about restaurant, but decided to try it out anyways. Starting off with the beef tartare appetizer made our mouths water for more. My boyfriend ordered the shark and I went with the fillet and we ordered the duck fat fries as a side. Everything was amazing. I'm a smaller woman, and always end up taking my food home as leftovers, not this night! We pretty much licked the plates clean. Amazingly delicious.

The restaurant was very busy and we visited on a Tuesday night, so booking is probably essential. Inside, the restaurant is attractively laid out, with several different areas, including bar seating and a lounge type section as well as standard tables of varying sizes. There seemed to be several groups in and this led to a noisy, vibrant atmosphere. Service was great. Our waitress, Lauren, took the trouble to explain the sizes of different types of dish to give us a guide as to what to order. Based on her advice, we shared a "small", Farm Bird Lollipops and had an entree each. The lollipops were good and spicy, but the two mains were a little bland for our taste. We had mahi mahi and a hanger steak. Both were OK, but no more than that.

I took some of my employees for a special occasion and it was a fun night. The restaurant is a little loud, but the food and service were excellent. We had the duck fat fries, artichoke dip and mushroom appetizers and they were all very good. Two in the party has scallops, one the seared ahi tuna and I had the mahi mahi. All were very good. We did not have dessert there. The wine list could have been longer, but we found a nice selection. It was a little pricey but I was quite happy with the service.

My husband and I have been to Searsucker at least 5 times. Each time we are disappointed with the front house and service, but somehow we forget between visits and come back. This night was no different. The hostess desk workers are always cold and unfriendly, and sometimes even rude. I get the feeling we are annoying them, and god forbid we ask for a specific seating area! Even though the restaurant was only about half full, we got seated next to the kitchen and right next to a drink station with an ice maker. All night the servers were slamming the door on that ice maker and it could be heard over the VERY LOUD music! The food was mostly good. I always wish there were more vegetables on the plates. Overall it was a $250 so-so experience.

More than a great bar this is also an acceptable restaurant . Ordering lots of small plastes is the way to order here. Duck fat fries, Short ribs, scallops, Shrimp & Grits, and mussels are all very good. The dinners are not that good. Two of has had the tuna and it was not at all pallatable.Someone in our group had the steak and it wasn't bad. Great cocktails. This place is upscale compared to its neighbors.

There's a big difference between energetic ambiance and obnoxiously loud. I recorded the decibel level at 98 (iphone app) which is the same as a hand drill. Sorry, don't like the constant sound of a hand drill with my meal. It's not even a good party place, because you can't hear ANYONE at your table. The food was okay -- didn't like the caesar salad -- and had to return main dish, it was lukewarm, not hot. Place is overrated. Their aim for loud music is to turn over tables -- which they did because we left immediately -- didn't want to order dessert or coffee.

Nice place in heart of Gas Lamp District. Very very loud. Music played loudly and the surfaces are all hard reflecting the noise. It was hard to have conversation for 6. One guest bought the 30 ounce bone on rib eye. The bone is about 18 inches log. It came our virtually raw and had to be sent back. The duck was tough but everyone else enjoyed their items. The small plates were all very nice. I would recommend those.

Met a friend here for brunch on a Sunday and from the reviews was expecting a big crowd. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full at 1230. The bar area is very nice, will check that out at a happy hour. I had the heirloom tomato and pesto sandwich, which was the only veg-friendly menu choice (unless you go with a salad, and it didn't look special). The tomato was soggy, the cheese was great, the pesto was really good. I can't speak to the chicken salad that my friend had as I don't eat chicken, but she left about half of it. Service was fabulous.
