We had a reservation for 6, res. were easy to make and the restaurant was able to accommodate a somewhat last minute change from 6 to 8. The service was spectacular, the waitress was knowledgeable about the meals and favorites and everything we ate was amazing! Everyone was friendly and polite, I did not feel we were bothered throughout our dinner but every glass/plate was tended to promptly. Even with our larger group we all received our meals at the same time. It was a little hard for the people on opposite ends to hear all conversations, but overall it was a fantastic experience. I would definitely return and have already recommended Searsucker to several people we've met in the last few days! Thank you, everything was fantastic!

Waiter was very rude though bussers and support wait staff were excellent. We still tipped well in the hopes that our waiter would in turn take care of those doing the real work. We went there hoping for more of the foodie experience we were used to but found the combinations to be underwhelming. The food was more about the menu descriptions than the quality. Simply not worth it. Wished we had gone back to Juniper and Ivy instead.

My wife and I have eaten at Searsucker a few times and have always had a good experience so we decided to try the brunch with 3 other couples. Everyone had a great time and the food was fantastic! The Chilaquiles were a huge hit and the S'mores dessert was an amazing way to finish off the brunch. On top of the great food, service was fantastic!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful meal on a busy Saturday night. Though it was very loud, as we knew it would be, we were seated in the back, for a more romantic feel. Our waiter was very accommodating and had excellent suggestions on what appetizers and cocktails to order. My boyfriend had the "Pyramid of Greatness" and I had a "Skinny Jenny" which were wonderful. He also had a beer recommended by the waiter which he loved even though he normally hates beer. We enjoyed the eggs + pork belly dish, basically a fancy Eggs Benedict everyone should try. And we each had a steak, him the hanger and me the filet. I wish there had been more "lobster butter" on the filet, and a tad overcooked. I can't wait to go back, as we didn't try dessert!

The sound was deafening in this restaurant. The initial appetizer, an articoke dish featured artichokes baked with cheese. I was expecting to see actual artickes, not a puree and color was very unappealin. We both ordered Mahi Mahi for a main dish which was overcooked and inedible. The waitress was unfailing polite and did what she could to improve our experience though the aditional appetizer we ordered in lieu of an entree, crabcakes, was overcooked as well.

Great place if don't want to talk to your date! When I made the reservation, I had no idea how noisy the restaurant would be. The host was very nice and accommodating, but we waited 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated outside where we could hear each other. Food and service were great! I would recommend if you want to eat here and be able to hear your date, make a reservation for the patio. Great place to people watch!

We really enjoyed our dining with our convention friends at Searsucker Downtown San Diego. The food was excellent, as was the service. Of paramount importance was getting a table outside. We tried to reserve an outdoor table, but we told that it was "first come first serve." (We had made the reservation two months earlier from Iowa City.) The helpful maitre d' insured that we were able to get a table outside, which was imperative to us because of the shocking noise level inside. We wanted to talk with our friends whom we hadn't seen in several years. (Actually, we were the only ones outside because it was chilly outside.)

Went for Sunday Brunch. Immediately wished we had gone to whatever restaurant is across the street.. the outdoor patio was full! Made me wonder why Searsucker was empty. We ordered the bottomless mimosas, which would have been a great value had the waiter been attentive enough to actually keep them full. The food was good; the bacon was excellent. I would have understood our neglect by the waiter had the restaurant been full; but there were only about 6 tables occupied in the entire restaurant (and there was more than one server working). Moved to the bar after we ate and the bartenders were then very attentive to our mimosas :)

This restaurant is definitely a hot spot but a little too noisy. The food was not exceptional. The beet salad was delicious as was the hangar steak. The mushroom appetizer was too garlicky and the melted cheese covering was unevenly layered. Drinks were pretty good. Service was very good.

Service was OK. we asked for a quieter table and the hostess just shrugged. Would not go back or recommend to anyone else.

We had a group of 7 at the Searsucker on a Saturday night - 3 people from the company I work for and 4 people from a company that is a prospective client. The ambiance was perfect - it felt like a nice place to take clients without being too pretentious. The food was all around good - cheese biscuits had a nice little kick that was fun. Only complaint is that it was really, really loud so it was hard to hear across the table and definitely hard to have one conversation between 7 people. We ended up having 3 mini conversations. Not sure if it's always like this, but definitely something to keep in mind.

We chose this place because of Top Chef Brian M. We were not disappointed. Our waiter Casey was extremely friendly and knowledgable. As soon as he knew I couldn't handle spicy foods, he recommended choices that would fit my pallet. Spot On!! Every dish we both had was yummy!! That braised short rib was excellent! Service was amazing. I highly recommend for everyone.

"Searsucker" was hopping for a Thursday night and the service and food were excellent. With a group of 6 we enjoyed sharing a greater variety of food but not the conversation, the place was loud. There wasn't a miss in any of the small plates or entrees we enjoyed. The meat eaters and vegetarians both left very happy. Our server went out of his way to help our picky eater and she was thrilled with her artichoke special. Next time we are in town will definitely go back!

I love Searsuckers for the amazing food, service and restaurant decor. However the chairs are horrible!! I know it seems like a small thing but when you're paying a premium price for food and cocktails you want to be comfortable. It's like sitting on patio furniture. And because we like to order appetizers, cocktails, dinner and dessert we are there for quite awhile so the chairs are actually very important. Upgrade your chairs and barstool cushions please!

This restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter is super easy to get to and was packed on a Thursday night. We ordered cocktails and small plates to share but most of the food we ordered I felt lacked flavor. My favorite was the beet salad and the beef tartar. I thought the crab cake was too fishy a flavor and the bone marrow was flat tasting. The cheddar puffers served complimentary to the table, were delicious. The service was slow and inattentive and the server didnt seem too interested in providing any recommendations of what she enjoyed on the menu. I feel there are more enjoyable places along the street with better tasting food and better service.

We were party of 8 we almost tried most of the 1 page menu, there is no variety and so crowded. so let me be fair begin with the good things 1-Appitiezers as really good we enjoy every plate. 2-Main dish is not that great so recommend to go with app. if you can. 3-We order the following fillet , scallop , chicken and steak for main disk. Here is the bad thing (we notice that they can't cook meat one of our plate went twice to the kitchen because it was rare and we asked for medium well. Don't except high end like this restaurant would do that.

3 out of four dishes were great, but we paid $30-$35 per dish and had to pay extra for a side? Music was so loud we had to yell to one another and our table was pushed so close to where the cooks pick up food that my husband chair kept getting kicked. My $14 salad came on a small plate and the lettuce was wilted. It went back, but the waitress wasn't that thrilled with me? They had a million staff on duty and we waited forever for our drinks and to be greeted by our waitress. She said hi a,d then we didn't see her for another 15?

The waitress was excellent and the wine list interesting. Food was well done and good for our vegan friend. Had interesting decor and felt warm and friendly. Reser for 6pm prior to concert, Sept 28th. Tables seemed to added - it was near the kitchen and in the waiters path. Had to move my chair to the side of the table to keep waiters from hitting the back of my chair. The noise level (yelling in the kitchen) would be better described as chaotic rather then energetic. We enjoyed the wine but our meals were not served until about 6:50. One meal- the Ono, was the driest fish ever. My meal - the steak - the rub was good but the quality of the meat just was not there - It was not tender. Both sent back. Our waitress was attentive and apologetic and the manager as well but based on the overall experience not sure I would give them a second chance. We were only charged for our wine.

My husband and I like to dine out, and we like good food. We don't mind spending money, but we expect to get what we pay for. Searsucker seems to be a SD Magazine darling, and so we thought the food and service would be worth the $35+ per plate cost. It was not. My scallops were good, if a bit undercooked, but nothing outstanding. The couscous they were served on was bland. Our friends both got the filet, and it was filet. Not bad, not good. Definitely not special. My husband got the thresher shark, and that I must say, was the stand out. The side dishes (snap peas and brussel spouts) again were nothing special. The appetizer salads, again, nothing special. Our bill with tip came to about $300. I would have been more satisfied at In and Out

The bottomless mimosas are honestly just a nice bonus. It's all about the food. We went for my wife's birthday -- 20 folks which included kids, aunts, and friends. We ordered one of every brunch item and shared. Everything was really really good. Even the mushroom / veggie omelet was good (although i didn't go back for a second bite of that -- not when there was tasty chillaquiles, pork belly hash, green eggs and ham!

I don't know if it was because we booked through Open Table and not the restaurant directly (like the secret bad rooms you get when booking through priceline)? I had booked over a week in advance and they tried to sit us next to a very busy door to the kitchen. Luckily we got there before the clients we were entertaining; so I had time to object and get re-seated. We were then rudely told we had to finish in 1.5 hours, but the server did not rush us, thank goodness. The meal was very good and I have food allergies and our server and the chef were very helpful. They went the added step of marking up the menu for what I could have. We regularly go to Herringbone a sister rest. If we didn't know this chain we might not consider going back.
