Diner Reviews
  • "Food was very well prepared with fresh ingredients and interesting combinations. Service was outstanding!"

  • "Took advantage of a Groupon Coupon for 1/2 off, (BOGO), and had a delicious lunch of Fish & Chips, with slaw, fries, and ( an included glass of wine.) - All great! - (I will add that the cole slaw came in one of those tiny metal bowls, like some salad dressing comes in, (about 'shot glass' size), and wasn't nearly enough to go with the fish&chips.) - C'mon, - Cabbage is Cheep! Otherwise, a great little place!"

  • "The food was terrific. Our party of 4 all had beef, each meal was cooked to perfection. Very flavorful. Great sides. Salads are noteworthy too! Our server was wonderful...very personable, attentive but did not hover. Entire staff was friendly and efficient."

  • "we ventured into Seared after seeing the Restaurant on Open Table, great food good service"

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. We've now dined at all the restaurants in downtown Petaluma, and without question, Seared comes out on top. The food was exceptionally well prepared and presented. All ingredients were fresh, and the combinations were quite interesting. Our server was absolutely wonderful! She was knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing, and incredibly friendly. Couldn't have asked for better service. The only downside to the restaurant was the decor...it's dark! Would love to see them brighten the place up perhaps by painting the walls a lighter color, adding flowers, et cetera. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. This is our new go-to restaurant in Petaluma."

  • "Very limited menu for a steak house. Did not carry either Merlot or White Zinfandel wine. Lamb chops were a poor choice as they were mostly fat with little taste of their own."

  • "I felt compelled to order the Filet Mignon - which was perfect, but then I returned less than a week later and tried the Day Boat Scallops - I wanted to lick the plate! It was fantastic! The wait staff was wonderful, great wine by the glass, fabulous chocolate dessert... I will be back time and time again"

  • "Our anniversary is on the 4th of July so we usually go to exotic/tourist destinations. We stayed home this year and tried Seared for our anniversary dinner. We were not disappointed. We are long time Petaluma residents and were frequented Gratziano's and kinew his family, so the "new place" had to be something special - it is. From our waiter Michael (I would recommend asking for him) to the food Hangar Steak, what a great night. BTW it is not just a steakhouse. My wife does not eat red meat and the seafood was excellent. All in all Seared help make this a special 33rd anniversary."

  • "We've been here 3 times since the beginning of the year. Each time we've had excellent food and service. This time it was a bit noisier than we like, but it did not deter from our dining experience. We'll go again."

  • "Good service and great food. Usual Petaluma traffic and parking problems. Look for the sandwich board sign or you could miss the place."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "This restaurant was great! We got stuck in traffic coming in from SF on a Friday afternoon, but they were still patient and sat us down immediately. The food was amazing! Loved the melon salad, macaroni and cheese, gnocchitelli, toast and fillet mignon! Great service, great food! They made us feel special!"

  • "Excellent food and very attentive service. Atmosphere fits either a formal or informal occasion."

  • "We had a wonderful lunch experience! Husbands birthday, we had extra special service and attention. Would recommend Seared to anyone desiring a unique dining menu. They even make their own catsup! How great is that!"

  • "We went on Father's Day. I had the filet and my husband had the rib-eye steak. Both steaks were very good. My filet was a bit more seared on the outside than I prefer (crusty) but very good. My husband did not like the mashed potatoes but I thought they were just okay. I did also have their sweet potato salad and it was excellent. We ended with the cinnamon flan and it was rather boring and not much cinnamon flavor. One thing I noticed is while it appears as though this restaurant wants to be upscale and it could be, but several workers dressed as though it was your neighborhood bar joint. Takes it down a peg for me. Not sure what they want to be represented as."

  • "I took my husband there for Father's Day. He has enjoyed the filet there before and they have full bar which he likes. We were able to be seated as soon as we arrived. First they wanted to seat us behind this half wall that is right in front of the open kitchen . I did not like it there and asked to be moved which the hostess did with no problem. The only thing I can say about the wines by the glass was that there were not that many to chose from. I would prefer a couple of choices in a wine group. Other than that our food was very good. Regarding that table that they tried to give us at first other people were sat there and they did not like it either. They ended up back there though as I guess there was no other table available ."

  • "We celebrated our son's 38th birthday with him and our two grandchildren. We all had something different to eat and it was all wonderful. The house wine was outstanding. We will return but it will have to be a special occasion; the tab for the five of use (two children under 6) came to more than $200.00."

  • "A very good experience. Our server was great, attentive but not overbearing, restaurant full but still quiet enough for us to converse, good energy among staff, food really good, especially rib eye steak, outstanding wedge salad. We asked for birthday candle in dessert via Open Table, and the server was alert to that. We will definitely go back."

  • "Service was excellent, starting with the welcome upon arrival until the last bite. Although Seared is touted as a steakhouse, the menu includes lots of fresh seafood as well as poultry, pork and vegetarian offerings. The Surf & Turf is to die for! If you're a prime rib fan, be forewarned that, if you order it medium, they will likely put it on the grill to bring it up to temp. That step changes the texture and then it becomes more like a grilled rib steak."

  • "We were looking forward to trying this place and we were really let down. The food was flavorless, specifically the mac and cheese, creamed spinach, prime rib and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes were so fishy you could smell it when they hit the table. They comped our desserts, but they should have comped what we didn't like. I would absolutely not recommend this place. We spent a lot of money and we were very unhappy. We will never go back."

  • "The male host's clothing (way too casual) didn't exactly match the elegance of the restaurant; the wait staff was dressed appropriately. He was also non-smiling and negative. This did not improve when we departed. He was still unsmiling, serious. Could have said "thanks for coming" or "have a nice evening." We were polite and had no previous contact with the fellow, so it wasn't that he knew us and didn't like us. But, he acted like it! Perhaps he was having a bad night. The food was good, but be prepared. If you order medium-rare lamb, it's served RARE. Since I have been here before, I know it's worthy of revisiting. "

  • "Very nice steak house . Overall one of the best in sonoma county. The beer was perfectly chilled and service is great. I ordered the sun farm new York steak the meat was ok but gad a little too much salt for my tast. Other than that it was an awsome place."

  • "Food was great! My daughter had the duck and we all shared a bite. It was delicious! We tried the Rib Eye, prime rib, lamb chops and surf and turf, all great! Service was excellent...drinks were reasonable too! Would recommend this restaurant...."

  • "First time here. Came on a friend's recommendation for our anniversary. Petaluma needs a good steakhouse, and I wanted to give this a try. It's a little pricey for us, but for the money and the great cuts of meat think it's worth it. I would definitely return for another special occasion. Service was very good. The two person table that we sat at was a little long, and it felt as if we were sitting too far away from each other. Noise level was high so we had a hard time hearing each other. Good luck in Petaluma, I hope you can stay a while!"

  • "Great food! Everything was very good and cooked as it should be. Scallops were cooked perfectly as was the beef. Finally someplace gets it right! So happy to find this place, definitely will be back often!"

  • "The high point was of course the food, but with excellent service. I had a wonderful filet and my wife has a salmon special (which I tried a taste). Kudos to out waiter, who was attentive and funny. Thanks for a great meal."

  • "Flank steak tasty and cooked to my liking, pork shoulder also good but slightly dry. We sat near grill area which may be noisy for some. We will go back."

  • "This was our first time visiting Sonoma County and selected Seared because we were staying in Petaluna. The food was okay, though they didn't get a strong sear on the scallops which would have made them better. Food presentation was not as polished as I had hoped for but taste wise it was good. It was very loud, we were seated in a corner between what seemed to be a supply closet and the kitchen and every once in a while someone from the kitchen would bang something against the wall next to our table. I think the high ceilings made for an increase in noise level because there was nothing to keep it from bouncing around inside the building. What I did like was that it seemed like a locals place and not as much a tourist hangout."

  • "The hanger steak was wonderful, tender. The ceasar salad needed more zip, more dressing, more croutons"

  • "Had the opportunity to take a friend and his wife to dinner in honor of his 75th Birthday. The food was excellent, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere wonderful. We were impressed with our window seat and the attentiveness of the staff. Even got ice cream and a candle for the birthday boy. A memorable evening for all."

  • "Went there for lunch and it was a great experience! Highly recommend the Deviled Dungeness eggs. Wedge salad was fantastic - a bit daintier than a simple half slab of Iceberg - they cut it into 1/3s which is a nice touch. Tasty blue cheese and sweet 100 tomatoes add flavor, too. Had the Surf n Turf - 5oz Filet cooked perfectly with 2 large scallops which were delicious. Served a good Manhattan, too, at the beginning of the meal. Although on the higher $$$$ side for Petaluma - highly recommended!"

  • "I assume they are still working through some start up issues after the switch to a Steakhouse but the Steak Special was tuff and was not hot when it came out. It is promoting itself as a steakhouse so I expected better...they have work to do."

  • "I have been waiting to try this restaurant since Graziano sold it, I have been hearing good things about the place and I am very pleased to report that it is of very high quality and we were very happy with our food. We ordered salmon, halibut and a lovely Cream brule´ all impeccably prepared and some of the best, richest and dark house coffee I have ever had at a restaurant in years! The wine list is very good, though they could have more Rose´ and local Petaluma wines. It is good to see that they have gone in for high quality. Highly recommended."

  • "Great food. Prawns with fried rice were excellent and different. We will go back."

  • "Went for our anniversary and was not disappointed! Hanger steak and Filet were both delicious. Tried the twice baked potatoe(not as advertised) and creme fraiche mashed potatoes were yummy! Loved the creamed spinach. The coffee and doughnuts were a wonderful dessert to share! As mentioned the twice baked weren't as advertised but very yummy! Should be listed as a "smashed" or heirloom potatoe instead as they were small potatoes cooked then smashed open and the sauce and extras were added. Still, very yummy. Good wine list and full bar. Definitely going back, especially to try the Chocolate Indecision! Looked devine!"

  • "We dined at Seared on a Wednesday night and had an absolutely amazing experience. The food was outstanding (both the regular menu and the specials that night). We had the duck confit quesodilla, spicy scallops, sticky chicken wings, pork shoulder with polenta, and the chocolate indecision dessert. Everything had amazing flavor and beautiful presentation. We had a couple cocktails from their specialty list which were also fab (Moscow Mule & Manhattan). We loved that everything was local, fresh, and handcrafted. Our waiter was also super nice and hilarious, which was the cherry on top of the experience. Would definitely recommend for a date night or for a group of friends. We sat at a table, but the bar also looked fun. We'll be back soon!"

  • "The "seared" technique does not retain the juiciness of a good steak. I've been twice and have been disappointed both times."
    Dined on 4/30/2014
  • "WE had the cerviche to start and it was okay; then we had the Calimari which came highly recommended but it was on the soggy side and slightly tough (we like it crispy); we ended with the Shrimp entree which was completely overcooked. Our waitress was very good and attentive and they charged a reasonable $15 for corkage. We will not return since there are too many good places to go in Sonoma County."
    Dined on 4/25/2014
  • "Finally decide to try Seared for ourselves after mixed reviews from our friends. We ended up trying the mushroom aranchini, salt&pepper fries, the aged ribeye, butternut squash lasagna, and split the Mac and cheese. Everything was very good and we were surprised with the amount of food. Prices are reasonable compared to the quality and amount but will also limit our return to being a special occasion. All and all a great addition to Petaluma. "

  • "The service here was slow and less than cohesive. It was not too busy but the server took what seemed like forever to bring our first round of drinks. Then is was another 15 minutes to get her back to take our orders. Drinks were so so and they don't offer Italian sodas for the kids. Barbequed oyster appetizers were served cold with too much bacon and barbeque sauce slathered on them. Bread was lackluster. Grass fed New York steak was semi-tough but with a fairly good flavor; cream spinach was bland and salty. Wife's filet was curiously served in a bowl on top of the scallops, with veggies and pan gravy mixed in. (Very strange way to serve surf and turf.) Kids had roast pork shoulder that they enjoyed. Desert was ice cream served in jar. "
