Seagrass RestaurantOwner Young, Restaurant timeless...Rueben Perez may be young to own a restaurant, but he's not letting that get in the way of the ambiance, service and quality of dishes served at his family owned place. His father, Robert, is Chef extraordinaire! My wife and I had the patio to ourselves on a quiet Wednesday evening and Rueben and his server Jennifer waited on us as if we were the only ones in the entire place (which was not the case). We tried the four (4) course Chef's surprise (I, for one, am not particularly fond of surprises) and after the two complimentary amuse bouche, my palette grew immensely. It didn't stop there, Gambas, Crudo Sushi Grade Scallops (best I've ever had), mi-cuit salmon and two more delictable dishes, a cheese plate prior to the dessert..exquisite5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSeagrass Restaurant is a must-goIf you desire a relaxed, enjoyable fine dining experience, and you have occasion to be in Santa Barbara, Seagrass Restaurant is the place to go. The food is skillfully prepared and artfully presented, and the staff is actually the best part of the meal.
When you reserve a table at Seagrass, it's yours until you're through with it, and the staff makes sure you know it. The food is top quality and obtained locally, and while the skill level is first rate, the level of pretentiousness is exactly the opposite. The menu choices vary with the seasons, but the service remains top-notch throughout the year.
On your next trip to or through Santa Barbara, reserve a table at Seagrass. You deserve it.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were offered the privateWe were offered the private dining room on that day as it was available.
The setting was outstanding and the room was ideal for our group.
Food and service was outstanding as always.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and ambiance! Our server let us taste a variety of by-the-glass wines before we bought a bottle. The food was excellent (sea bass).4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was impeccable,The service was impeccable, the atmosphere very nice.
I had duck. It was served with pork belly and a deep-fried something.
So much for healthy food. Did not have much flavor either.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA Santa Barbara Dining GemIt was hard deciding where to dine in Santa Barbara for my one evening I would be visiting. I chose Seagrass by researching "farm to table" on the internet.
The staff was so attentive, but not annoyingly so. My water glass was always full and my wine was poured for me each time.
My first course was the Mixed Green Salad which I believed to be the best salad I have eaten in any restaurant. The goat cheese added such a richness to it and the citronee dressing was perfect. I chose the steamed muscles for my main course. It had pork belly, sausage and onions with a tomato coconut curry broth. There was a crostini served with it and plenty of crusty bread to sop up every last drop of the broth. It was an outstanding experience.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMmy 1st choice in diningCame to Santa Barbara for a 3 day weekend. Food was just delicious. Service was perfect. Nice comfortable dining room. When returning to the area, Seagrass will be my 1st choice in dining.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWill try again!A little disappointed with the temperature of my steak. It was luke warm. They did fix it but in the process over cooked it. I refuse to let them fix me another. I ate the parts that were not over cooked and left the rest. They did comp the meal. The staff were wonderful. They could have used at least one more wait staff. They were to busy.
I will go back again and try something else. Expensive for portions served.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful evening! My fiance and I were celebrating a very special evening and our recent experience at Seagrass was outstanding! The service, the food (the taste, temperature, and presentation), etc., were top notch. the only thing that I would say was a negative was the corkage fee of $25. I think that was a little too high. But other than that, our evening was perfect!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent attentive service,Excellent attentive service, good food, interesting menu3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for a nice dinner.Five of us were dining, four enjoyed 2for1 Aaxxess Cheif Surprise specials, the other ordered off the menu. The staff was very friendly, though weren't totally versed in the menu and didn't know where the wild boar was from. We had both fish and game dishes, nice salads, and delicious deserts. The wine was a little off, not sure if it was just the bottle or what. We'll go back for a special occasion and try to sit outside. Other comparable spots are the Wine Cask, Olio e Lemone, Buschon, Duffeys, etc.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, serviceGreat atmosphere, service and seafood. What one would expect from SB.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit to Seagrass. Our second visit to Seagrass. We go for the seafood although there are other items on the menu that look good as well. The service is very good, without being overattentive. We lingered over our meal and at our table as long as we wanted. And they graciously packed up our dessert selections to take home with us. The surprise was that our bill was less than we expected for such an elegant meal.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant. LovelyBeautiful restaurant. Lovely food choices. Wait staff was fine. A bit put off that we had used open table to arrange our meal there!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLove seagrass!I love this place! Neighborhood gem, family run, great for romantic spot, or in small groups.
