Diner Reviews
  • "We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish at this suburban Virginia restaurant. The food and the service were great."

  • "Several items on the menu we ordered were not available after we had ordered them. The waiter should have told us how big the sushi orders were for appetizers. We ordered way to much."

  • "So I went to Sea Pearl on a Wednesday night around 9 PM. Later than my standard and in a different section of town. I was seated immediately and given several great sounding recommendations by the server. I settled on the tonkatsu ramen and waited with some jasmine tea. It was clear to me that the crowd at this establishment was very diverse, a birthday party, a quiet older couple, but the real excitement came from the party adjacent to me. The leader of which was spitting tobacco chew into a kid's cup usually reserved for milk. Classy. The tonkatsu was flavorful but not nearly what you would expect if you went to a spot with ramen cred. Reasonable but a miss overall."

  • "Next to the Theater, so a great location, consistently above average food, solid service. Overall a well run restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Reasonable menu and drink prices."

  • "As always, the sushi was perfect. Great menu selection, something for everyone."

  • "Food was a good mix of Asian fusion. For example a sweetbread (ris de veau) with tuna in sushi. We enjoyed the strange combination. The lobster crepe was also great and their signature dish the Chilean sea bass. We also enjoyed their specialty drinks were fun and I enjoyed the ginger splash. Nothing was bad, but the desserts were weaker than the rest. I cannot recommend the banana split."

  • "We really enjoyed our server. His name was Earl. He had a great sense of humor, was attentive, sold the food, and made us laugh."

  • "This restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, but the food wasn't spectacular. Our waiter was amazing, attentive, keep the drinks full, and brought the food fast. The food itself for lunch at least was decent, but again...nothing extraordinary and not many options to chose from. From the pricing and location, I hope they expand their lunch menu. Especially the portion sizes. Will try here again for dinner."

  • "I ate here last week with two friends. We all agreed that the food was good. However, we had some issues with the service. We had a 7:30 reservation. Around 9:15/9:30, the waiter brought our check. We were chatting and finishing up our wine. Several minutes later, he came back and informed us that we really had to settle up our check, as the restaurant closed at 9pm. It was very strange and we did not enjoy being rushed out. We were not being particularly slow at all, just trying to enjoy our night out. Although the waiter was apologetic, he was still pushing us out at the same time. The food at Sea Pearl is not inexpensive, and the experience left us all feeling that we will not be returning to Sea Pearl anytime soon."

  • "This was my first visit so I was very nervous since I recommended it to my husband and neighbors. The menu looked too tempting to pass up. Much to my relief the experience was a winner. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding! It was a quiet Monday evening so though we arrived early we were seated promptly. It's in the new Mosaic area of Falls Church so parking was free in the garage right next to the restaurant. We met the manager (one of the four sisters of the same name restaurant) who was quite gracious. We can't wait to return. It will be hard to try something other than the firecracker sushi, the fried oysters appetizer and the beet salad which were all just perfect!"

  • "Tried the Chilean sea bass first time there and I can see why it's the specialty. Amazing! Perfect texture and the sauce is nice and spicy. Great cocktails and special desserts too! The passion fruit creme brûlée and brûlée banana split with lavender ice cream are delicious."

  • "food and service were very good, selections were appropriate and served hot. A bit more noise than I would have liked, limiting conversation. We were seated immediately even though we we about 30 minutes early for our reservation."

  • "Sea Pearl remains one of our favorite restaurants. It never disappoints. I had the Fisherman's Stew, which was a real bargain (at $30) with an abundance of lobster, shrimp, mussels and fish. My wife had the scallops which were wonderful."

  • "The ambience is very good and service was impeccable as was our meal. I had the bronzino, a fish I didn't know, and was first-rate."

  • "This place serves awesome food! Everyone in my party loved what they got. The sushi is fresh, the fish (Monk and Bass) was done perfectly and the scallops were to die for. Also, the short ribs...forget about it...meat falls right off the bone. And the wait staff...professional and personable during the entire dining experience. I've been there numerous times and every experience is just so pleasant. The restaurant is spacious and the noise level is just right."

  • "I chose Sea Pearl as my birthday dinner location after looking over the menu while I was at the Mosaic District to eat at a great if much less costly location (Panera) and thought, I'd love to come here for a luxury occasion. I have no regrets upon having done so. The food is amazingly good, combining the familiar (sushi rolls, fresh seafood) in very surprising and creatively enjoyable ways. It was the best kind of gourmet meal: satisfying without causing an overstuffed sensation. And the décor is very well-done, mixing high-tech and hand-crafted designs. I give Sea Pearl an "A" overall and my only suggestion to improve anything there is this: the restaurant should have a little more lighting in the corridor where the restrooms are. Thanks!"

  • "The service was so bad that it put a damper on anything else. The waiter was frustrated that my group didn't immediately know what we wanted to order and didn't hide it. He kept walking away while we were trying to talk to him. The food is good- I always like asian fusion- but for the price, I would rather go somewhere where the wait service wasn't downright rude."

  • "It was great food, service and atmosphere. The noisy bar is apart from the large dining area which was great- we could actually hear each other. There was not one complaint from our group of 8. We were impressed! We plan to go back."

  • "Very good fish stew, just the right amount of heat. Mussels were a good blend of Asian influence in the sauce."

  • "We were looking for a nice restaurant in Northern Virginia to celebrate having a sitter! My swordfish was excellent, my spouse's lobster a bit bland however. Originally seated at a table en route to kitchen. Waiters passed over my head twice in a very short span. Our waiter was accommodating in finding us a different spot. However, there were some far better locations but for whatever reason we were not offered them even though they sat vacant the entire dinner. Water and wine service was very good and I enjoyed a restaurant with very few little ones that evening. This is the third time I have tried this restaurant and will most likely return. I'll just have to be more specific about table location."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Sea Pearl for dinner after a movie at Angelika. The place is usually full (we made reservations), which gives it a nice ambiance of foodie camraderie. I had the jumbo shrimp dish which they appropriately warned me was hot. Always liking to try new things, I said "Fine, I'll take It." Be warned, when they say a dish is hot, it is hot. But it was handled in a very tasty way and interestingly the heat enhanced the dish, it didn't detract. My girlfriend had the crab cakes and enjoyed them as well. I have visited Sea Pearl probably about five times and each time I am pleasantly surprised. I consistently enjoy the the food, ambiance and convenience to one of my favorite movie theaters. I recommend Sea Pearl highly."

  • "The food at Sea Pearl Restaurant is unique and prepared exquisitely. I was delighted to find sangria on the wine list. And it's real sangria, too -- not an imitation of sangria or merely a robust wine called "sangria." Oyster lovers should not miss indulging in the appetizer of fried oysters, which are fresh and served with chipotle sauce. The main dish of seared sea scallops will satisfy the pickiest seafood lover. The dessert called "Chocolate Box, almond flavored chocolate mousse with almond brittle and strawberry coulis was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. The exquisite decor matches the high standards of the food offered. Everyone in our party of five declared, "We'll be coming to Sea Pearl Restaurant again!""

  • "Sea Pearl now has an 8 person Sushi Bar. Their roles were perfectly presented and delicious. The Seared White Tuna and Scallops were both perfection.! Only short coming was their wine list. I had selected a $52 bottle and they were out of it - the waiter recommended a $62 bottle as an alternative. I would have expected the restaurant to have comped that difference since they were at fault for not having the selected wine. The dinner for 2 with 1 shared sushi roll, 2 entrees, shared desert and 2 coffees with sparking water and wine was almost $200 including tip. Not inexpensive - slightly more expensive than I think the evening should have been. Still had an excellent time."

  • "I go here often to celebrate with colleagues. The food selection is varied but not overwhelming. The wait staff is attentive but not overly so. The food presentation matches the flavors. The only caution I have is their saucing is too heavy for me."

  • "There was a prix fixe menu that had nice choices and was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was extremely pleasant but not obtrusive. Very pleasant experience. The dessert was near-lethal amounts of chocolate."

  • "We have favored Sea Pearl's fish and chips, preceded by their spring roll. The last two times I have begun with the calamari and have found it to be the best that I have eaten in the area. The menu is varied and everything we have tried has been good."
