We end up at Sea Pearl when we go to the new Mosaic District as some of the other choices are really rather pretentious and annoying. The food is good and the bar area is lively during happy hour. Excellent and enormous martinis. But the bottom line price is a little high overall. It would be easy to go here more often as the menu is extensive, but the prices preclude this.

Sea Pearl is a lovely upscale, neighborhood restaurant in Merrifield. Everything on the menu is good, and the service is very quick. However, you do not feel rushed to get in and out. The dining area offers limited privacy, but it is still very comfortable. The real, little known gem, is the bar and lounge area are extremely coxy and comfortable. I highly recommend a late evening drink there with friends, or that special someone.

We love the Pearl, but their thoughtful Veteran's Day special brought us out during the week for an indulgence that proved fantastic. Our server was extraordinarily helpful, our oysters as superb as ever, entrees perfectly prepared, flavorful, and imaginative. Be sure and have the Spicy Miso Noodles!! Extraordinary!!!

We had Chinese, American/Hawaiian, and Japanese all in one brunch. All of the dishes were well prepared and very interesting. My spouse commented after looking over the menu that she wanted everything! It was not crowded and food delivery could have been a bit faster but it's not fast food after all.

Sea Pearl is one of my favorite restaurants in the Fairfax area. Service, food, staff are always excellent and accomodating. I have been there several times over the last 6 months for special occasions, reasonably quiet dining or just because and it never disappoints me or any of my friends. Everyone always leaves with a good feeling, knowing an excellent meal was had! It has something for every food desires and dining experience whether in the main dining room for a quiet twosome meal or in the bar and lounge area for a great informal meet and chat. Sea Pearl consistently turns out a great experience.

I'd not eaten at Sea Pearl since shortly after they opened many years ago, because that visit dispirited me with complex dishes that did not deliver -- the food was trying to be interesting and great, and failing miserably. On this visit, we were blown away by great attentive service, and creative and delicious food. The mackerel special sashimi/nigri won over my wife, and the diverse appetizers and main courses were lovely. My szechuan steak was superb, as were the sides of perfectly-seasoned mash potatoes and vegetables. Dessert delivered as well -- my blood orange sorbet was indulgent, and everyone else loved the chocolate box.

We need to come here more often. The food is absolutely delicious. Great place to enjoy seafood with an Asian flair. Fresh oysters on the half shell, all kinds of sushi rolls and a very tasty sashimi salad. They also have a very good selection of main courses including the grilled cobia. We cannot wait to come back for dinner in the near future.

Gives a great feel of fine dining meets trendy. I like that there are multiple types of food to choose from the menu. Was a bit more expensive than I had originally thought it was going to be, but the food was up to snuff so that made it worthwhile. They offer blue cheese stuffed olives with martini's which is hard to find these days and something my girlfriends and I are always in search for. The Fisherman's Stew was amazing. Very filling, and worth the price.

Although I had a reservation, we were told our table was not ready yet and to wait in the lounge. We waited for 25 minutes!!! We asked the hostess twice and the answer was they are still setting the table. I was amazed by the long wait. So what is the use of making reservations? The food was excellent and so was the service.

Sea Pearl is a lovely restaurant with hip décor and a roomy interior. The curved bar is lovely and inviting to eat if there are no tables in the large dining room. The food is adventurous, delicious and nicely presented. The waiter, was unfortunately, not very knowledgeable about the food, but was pleasant and attentive. I'll definitely go back.

The food overall was pretty good. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was not very crowded, about half full, so can't speak to the heavy evening performance assuming they get full then. All in all a good meal but expensive for what you get. Paying for the decorations, the restaurant is very well decorated and roomy.

We've been to Sea Pearl several times. The food is consistantly excellent. Sea food is best, of course; but I had a really good root vegetable plate on my last visit. The service is attentive without being obnoxious; and none is pushing you out of your table. Other than some kids less than 6 moths who got a little loud, I guess they couldn't enjoy the excellent sushi, the meal was quite enjoyable. The owners have invested in some fascinating artwork by a local, Torpedo Factory artist, which really adds to the ambiance.

I've always had a wonderful time. The staff is always amazing in customer service. I like their happy hour as there are so many things to choose from the $1 oysteres and clams, $1 sushi, $4 rolls, and their small plate specials. The mac & cheese as well as the wings are really good as well. Another appetizer I love is the mussels, the sauce is amazing! The crystal chive dumplings are really good as well if you like lobster and foie gras..Also some good things on the dinner menu is the Chilean Sea Bass, Tonkotsu Ramen as well as the Miso Ramen (Very filling). The Maine Lobster definitely doesn't disappoint as well as the Braised Short Ribs. This is a great place to go with friends to try different things, it will satisfy your appetite.

I brought a friend here who was visiting from out of town. The wait staff was very attentive (a little over the top, but that's better than the alternative). The menu was extensive and we had a hard time choosing between all of the sushi rolls. Shrimp cocktail was amazingggg and so was the Black Widow roll. Only thing of note is the cocktail menu was a bit lacking. House white wine was very good though! Definitely would go back.

We were enjoying a tasty, peaceful brunch in a largely empty restaurant when the hostess chose to sit a very loud group of 9 birthday celebrants near us. It was obvious that the group was in high sprits when the entered the restaurant and they progressed to actually yelling and speaking in very raised voices as if they were at a crowded bar. Why they sat such a boisterous group in the middle of several tables enjoying a quiet Sunday morning I do not understand. The hostess never asked them to moderate their voices. We quickly finished and left. It ruined our experience. On the plus side, the food was tasty and the wait staff excellent. I'll try Sea Pearl again, but if the same ambience and noise issues arise it will be the last time.

Like any restaurant while some dishes flop, when he hits it in on the mark, it is amazing. His sushi and ceviche are so inventive. The tempura spinach is the local version of the good stuff at Raskia, he also does red meat well and every lamb dish there has been amazing, The sea bass (skewers or main dish) are great. Raw oysters are good and so are the fried oysters with the pico de gallo (and I don't like fried oysters) Steve the bartender/waiter is great at recommendations and we never sit anywhere but in his bar area (there are tables there too) It is no 2941 or Marcels but its a step up from most local fare in Fairfax.

The ambience was very nice, it is a beautiful restaurant visually. The seating was average in comfort, a little too 'cafeteria' for my taste, not clubby and cozy enough. But it had a nice vibe. The sushi rolls were good, but I've had better so I'm not sure if I would recommend the restaurant. I guess I would say it is a pretty restaurant, nice atmosphere, great for stopping in for a drink, the food is decent.
