This restaurant is a favorite of ours. We spend a little over 2 months in the Isle of Palms every winter and this is one of the places we found that is truly comfortable. The service is wonderful. There is a waitress, Alice, who makes us feel as if we are the only guests there. The other night, we had a waiter, Joseph, who worked very hard at making us comfortable. Obviously, this is a great place for us.

We had a wonderful meal at Sea Island Grill. We were on a little overnight getaway at the hotel, and enjoyed lunch, and dinner at sea Island Grill. My Grouper entree and my his scallop entre were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The she-Crab soup was also one of the bet we've had. Also Great service!

It was restaurant week in Charleston and there wasn't a bad meal to be had in the city. We had the filet and the NY Strip and both were well prepared and seasoned. Service was friendly. Wild Dunes Resort just does everything well, the beach, the Grand Pavilion, and the restaurant were all first class.

We enjoyed our food in a very pretty setting. I would consider this an upscale restaurant but not so fancy that we couldn't enjoy the meal with our child. One of our dishes was incorrect and the server and chef fixed it right away. As a parent, I was most impressed with the children's menu which was very healthy and had A LOT variety! My daughter loved the restaurant and asked that we go back there again.

Over all the food and the service was good. The only issue I had with my dining experience was the bar area is very close to the dining room, and there was a VERY LOUD bridal party in the bar celebrating the night before the big day. The noise was so loud a couple asked to have their table moved in the MIDDLE of their meal to a location a little further away from the bar area and the noise. I think management should have closed a door or asked the party to move outdoors onto the deck area so not to disturb the other patrons.

Food was great. Restaurant is in Wild Dunes Resort, but worth the extra few minutes for those not staying in Wild Dunes. Up to par with more famous restaurants in Charleston. Service was great. Nice area to relax with a game of checkers or chess to enjoy before or after dinner drinks. One of our best evenings during a week in Charleston.

Everything we ate at the Sea Island Grill was clearly prepared by a chef. Presentation was nice, portion sizes were good - not too large, and the wait staff was very experienced and knew how to provide great service while not inserting themselves into the dinner experience. Excellent!

  • Average meal at best - not tasty
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/9/2012
We hoped for a great dinner in the formal Wild Dunes dining room. Unfortunately, and despite fairly expensive meals, we came away with a average at best experience. Our meals were lukewarm, and frankly not very tasty. Even the desserts were not that great. Isle of Palms, Sullivan Island and Charleston has so much more/better options available within a short drive. Dine here if you want to avoid a drive, but we left with a fairly big bill - without a tasty meal.

We went to the Sea Island Grill for our anniversary. The atmosphere and food presentation were really nice, despite the electrical storm that caused the restaurant to keep losing power. Somehow, that just added to the ambiance. We will go back, and we'll also recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Lovely place inside the main building at Wild Dunes. Didn't start out promising - there was no one at all in the place at 7:00 p.m. which didn't give us a warm, fuzzy feeling. But, gratefully, those fears were unfounded. Best wait staff we had all week for our stay in Charleston - very attentive and helpful. And the food was just outrageous. Really outstanding. If you are looking for a fine dining experience in a casual setting, this is an excellent choice. And if you are staying at Wild Dunes, you really need to have dinner here.

We had two small children with us, so we sat outside. Outside was good for the kids, but we missed out on the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was good, though not spectatular. The service was extremely slow, and the waitress seemed new and not familiar enough with the menu. We had to ask repeatedly for our drinks to be refilled, which is not what I would expect with a restaurant of this caliber. The delay caused our kids to become restless, which did not help our dining experience. This restaurant could be great if the service was improved; also, the outside seating needs to be improved to feel like you're still eating at a fine establishment.

Sea Island Grill is the high end restaurant at Wild Dunes Resort and is in the Boardwalk Inn at the resort. We dined on the patio overlooking the pool and it was quiet and peaceful that night. The interior rooms are old school clubby (wood paneling and brass) and there is a nice bar there as well. All of our dishes were outstanding and they had a decent wine list as well - by the glass, half bottles, and full bottles. The service was excellent - friendly, courteous, and immediate without being obtrusive. Definitely a great choice for a special meal at Wild Dunes or if you're staying on Isle of Palms.

My husband and I ate at Sea Island Grill for dinner the first night we arrived at the Boardwalk Inn, after the drive we did not want to go somewhere into Charleston or leave the resort for dinner. The food was delicious, the service was great, very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant view overlooks the pool and patio, you can also eat lunch or breakfast on the patio. We did have a slight mix up with our dinner reservations that were made in advance, but the staff answered our questions and resolved the issues. I would recommend this restaurant. They also serve lunch, and have a lounge/bar.

Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He offered to cut up our son's chicken since my hands were full. There was construction going on in the pool area which is why I am giving such a low ambiance rating. The chicken was very dry. We enjoyed our dining experience very much. I participated in the 3 for $30, but my husband did not. He ordered the grouper and said it was the best ever. I was disappointed in the grilled red velvet cake. Don't see the point. The cake was not warm, and the grill marks tasted burnt.

We went to the Christmas buffet. Not much of a buffet. No salads, no pastas, no rice, undercooked eggs, their idea of veal saltimbocca was a piece of fried chicken,(not very good fried chicken), that they threw prosciutto & cheese on top of. We were told not to eat the berry cobbler because it wasn't good, the ice cream was melted, we had to ask for bread, they ran out of mashed potatoes - so we didn't get ANY. As we walked in for our reservation, we were on time, they were talking about breaking down the stations hmmm yes I felt rushed. They added gratuity to our party of 4 bill, 20% for buffet service. We won't be back

We had been to this restaurant the year before on our honeymoon and had a great time so we went back this year in October. The food was okay, it seemed to not be as good as the year before. We ate outside by the pool for the second time. However, this time they were setting up for a brunch the next day. Not only was this annoying while we were trying to enjoy the view - not sure I'd want to eat where my glasses and silverware were put out the night before. Overall this time it seemed to be more hit or miss. If we are staying at Wild Dunes we will probably try this one more time.
