We had a reservation for party of 4 at Pampano but they called and cancelled our reservation due to a large party taking over the restaurant. Well, too bad for them! We again enjoyed a great meal at Sea Fire Grill..my husband declaring his tuna was the best he has ever eaten and my sea bass special was excellent! Service was fun and not in your face and we were well served! We live in the neighborhood so now Sea Fire Grill is out go-to place to entertain out of town guests and spoil ourselves weekly!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new find!!!This relatively new restaurant was very impressive in all ways. The warm greeting at the door was followed by a stroll through one of the warmest, beautiful bars I've seen in New York in some time. We reached the dining area which is spacious, pleasantly decorated and were comfortably seated and greeted by a wonderful wait staff. An excellent selection of fish and a raw bar that will impress the most distinctive "foody," we enjoyed the best prepared salmon I've had in some time. The tarragon/caper preparation was perfect. My guest enjoyed the swordfish, and could not stop talking about how pleased she was. As it was lunch time, we passed on wine, but closely reviewed the extensive listing and moderate prices. It is always great to go to a restaurant and find that although it was outstanding the last time that it just keeps on getting better. As my friends and I have really covered quite a bit of the menu I can say that it is all amazing. Same great service and quality of food. The waiter was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. I had the tuna which had just a simple seasoning and the quality of the fish made the dish perfect. I also recommend the crab cake and the scallop appetizer. It came with a buerre blanc sauce that was also really good on our sides of brussels sprouts and carrots. My husband ordered a steak. It had a great flavor, but he ordered it medium and it came out rare and he had to send it back to be cooked more. It was still medium rare, but tasty nonetheless. My brother had snapper and said it was excellent as well. We couldn't even finish all our vegetables, so didn't order dessert. A seafood speciality restaurant, it had an outstanding selection of seafoood, for both the seafood lover and the seafood novice. Service was outstanding, with kudos to the friendly and unpretentious sommelier, who found us an excellent, well-priced wine to go with our varied dinners and gave excellent guidance on menu selections. Fish was prepared as well as I have ever had.
Two concerns that will not bother most: First, desserts were standard, and our choices were not as memorable as the appetizers and entrees. They provided a nice, sweet end to the meal, but were not memorable. Second, the restaurant is expensive - appetizers, entrees and dessert added up. Try Sea FireAs a fan of Benjamins steakhouse I was anxious to see how their style translates to sea fare. It's a winner. The bar is stocked with every call brand imaginable; the wine list was superb and what a knowledgeable, friendly, sommelier; and the service which has always set their steakhouse apart is visible here.
We enjoyed halibut, salmon, snapper and tuna mains; the traditional caesar salad, oysters and a lovely grilled scallop starter were winners. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the service outstanding. Everyone here does their best to make you feel welcome. Second time I had the steak - for a seafood restaurant, this is the best steak I have had in NYC. The fish was truly exceptional, as were the sides and dessert. While we did not have steak it looked fantastic. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Everyone from the hostess to the maitre d' and the wait staff are welcoming, friendly and go out of their way to make this a wonderful dining experience. This will be my "go to" restaurant in midtown from here on. I really believe the crab cake was the best I've ever had. The service continues to be impeccable. The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable, and even treated us to an after dinner wine. I would rank the Sea Fire Grill right up there with Del Frisco's, or any other high end steak/seafood house.
