Sea ChangeTerrific date nightWonderful ore- Guthrie dinner at Sea Change, a lovely restaurant wiyh terrific, inventive chef6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always eat at Sea ChangeWe always eat at Sea Change before attending a Guthrie performance. The service was especially good Tuesday, June 11. The food is always exceptional. We love the Arctic Char so much but tried the trout and loved that too! Now we'll have difficult decisions to make. LOL Keep up the good work. It's a great eating experience.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Before a PlayVery good, modern seafood restaurant in a stunning setting. Adjacent to the Guthrie Theater with two-story windows on three sides, diners can enjoy prime views of the stone arch bridge and a unique "portrait garden" of twenty foot tall portraits of Tyrone Guthrie, Arthur Miller and other theater greats. Unique seafood and other entrees, with an excellent oyster bar.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperior presentation of seafoodSuperior presentation of seafood prepared excellently! Wonderful to sit on the back patio and enjoy views of the stone arch bridge, and the joggers, cyclists, and families strolling by. Service was attentive, menu suggestions were outstanding..6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was very knowledgableOur server was very knowledgable about the menu and possible wine pairings. The staff was very friendly and cognizant of our needs.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! We always eat at Sea Change before seeing a show at the Guthrie. We obviously thoroughly enjoy our dining at Sea Change given that we go several times a year. This was the first time I changed my entree. I always have the arctic char and switched to the new trout entree. The trout was very nicely done and presented beautifully. We always share the beet salad and switched this time another salad which was very good but not as unique as the beet salad.
We are very comfortable at Sea Change. The staff is also very pleasant; in fact, our waiter remembers each time and knows what we like!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Favorite SpotWe love the raw bar... Always great and interesting oysters and then there's the abalone... good wines too.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time experience worthwhileWas able to book a Saturday evening for 5pm (opening time) at 3:30pm through open table. Arrived early and the bar was open, plenty of comfortable seating while waiting for table. Oysters were 'good' (from GF review), drinks are very good (try a Maker's Manhattan). Service was excellent, but one starter dish was returned due to a fault.. the manager came out and apologized and offered free replacement. Duck was 'good' but go for Medium-Rare. Halibut was very good. Desert was *excellent*. The drinks are overpriced but very good, compare *almost* to Bar La Grasa but Sea Change priced higher. The place was empty when we arrived at 4:45pm but packed by the time we left at 7:50pm. Parking directly outside on meters - but get there early.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceWe had the nicest dinner. Everyone was great and the food was amazing. Thank you for being such a well put together restaurant.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMYumCan I say the bread is incredible? From the potions to the combination of ingredients, Sea Change is a wonderful place to eat. There's something on the menu for everyone - of course fish but also a lovely fried tofu. If you want to take a doggie bag and are going to the theater, the restaurant will hold your food in the frig.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSea Change Group OutingSuper atmosphere and great food. Service was excellent for a group of 10. Wait staff was attentive and knew the menus well (appetizer, main courses, desert and drinks). Absolutely a great place to have an outing for a group as well as a couple. Highly recommend.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative Dining ExperienceSea Change is always on the cutting edge of creativity in food. Love what they do with standard ingredients; love even more what they do with the unusual ingredients. A fantastic dining experience.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSlightly disappointedWhen for lunch for was great, service was slow given we were only about about 5 tables in the restaurant. Disappointment came when we asked congratulate the chef on her award. we were told she didn't have the time ,yet she had been walking through the restaurant during most of the time we were eating. It would have taken no more than a minute for us to say what we wished to, makes me wonder if we were not important enough. There are so many great places to eat I may not have time to stop in the next time I am in town.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSea Change always deliversWe split the mussels appetizer ( alas no clams on Sunday Evening) and they had a smoky, briny flavor. Perfect portion for splitting. My husband had the arctic char and I had the scallops. Please don't take these off the menu when it gets revised.
Love the wine list - you almost can't go wrong. Everything is geared to seafood so I love to pick a glass of a white that I havent had elsewhere.
My only plea - is there a way to have oyster for less than $36+ dollars a dozen?5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMsea changethe food was imaginative, the cocktails distinctive. everything prepared beautifully, the waiter was the best we've ever experienced. nothing to compare this to it was a standout.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery happy we chose itAfter reading some reviews, I almost cancelled my reservation. That would have been a HUGE mistake. There were four of us and we sampled several dishes. Highly recommend the langoustine and grilled octopus. We had a delicious meal, our server was great and all left wishing we lived closer. This is not a place for everyone but the next time we find ourselves in Minneapolis, we'll definitely return.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and splendid service.Great food and splendid service. Our first visit but we will definitely be back. Highly recommend5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive serviceWe ate at Sea Change prior to attending a performance at the Guthrie Theatre. The staff was excellent in suggesting wines to accompany our meal selections and was sure to get us to the theatre on time without rushing us. We had eaten at the bar several times before and know that the bartenders are engaging, entertaining, and deliver drinks to delight the patrons. I think we'll likely eat at the bar in the future because while the food in the restaurant was very good, I'm not a big fan of fish and non-fish options are limited.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat!Great food service and great atmosphere.. One of the best restaurants in Minneapolis.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHalf priced wine bottle MondayMy wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner with our kids at Sea Change. We had a number of oyster selections that our server was very helpful in describing and our selections, we ordered 2 dozen oysters and had a blast enjoying the fresh flavorful feast. Half priced bottle of wine on Mondays was perfect and we took advantage of a fine selection of wines, the Halibut and rolled Trout were delectably delish and our kids ordered the equally wonderful salmon. Dessert was fantastic and the entire evening was fun and food was spectacular. Service is top notch and the ambiance of Sea Change is beautiful.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBig respect for Jami Malone & crewWe enjoyed everything about Sea Change. Our knowledgable server helped us decide what to order, as we were like kids in a candy store. The Lavender Sapphire jumped out at me from the impressive signature cocktal list, and it did not disappoint -- delicious!
From where we sat, we could see one end of the kitchen, where the staff operated like a well-choreographed ballet, quiet and efficient. All our food arrived swiftly, and beautifully composed. My Bouillabaisse, with its big, butter-browned crouton sporting a generous dollop of rouille, hewed to unassailable southern French authenticity and tradition amid a menu featuring many creative nods to New American Cuisine and molecular gastronomy.
I say get in there and eat!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely spot for pre-GuthrieA lovely spot for pre-Guthrie dining - or for anytime. Excellent lobster salad at lunchtime. Our server Chris was pleasant and attentive.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSea Change at the Guthrie TheatrePros: the food was delicious -- outstandingly so. The service was excellent.
Cons: the portions were very small and the prices were very high.
Still, I'd go there again. . . and again5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPart of the theater experienceOutstanding food and bustling energy in a hip dining room make a perfect pre theater experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at SeaChangeLoved the restaurant! We will go back when in Minneapolis next.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! We have been here many times and it is consistently outstanding. Excellent raw bar, unique dishes, and attentive and knowledgable wait staff. The chef has wonderful little goodies up his sleeve!! We love the experience and will continue our patronage.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food Great SettingThis was my first time at Sea Change as I was in town for business and took a client there, but it would be great for a romantic evening as well. It was a beautiful evening so we ate outside with a great view of the river and bridges and walking paths. The food was excellent. The wine was great. The service was excellent, even outdoors which can be harder on the server. I definitely recommend Sea Change to anyone for a business or personal/romantic dinner.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMiised a bit this timeAll was excellent as expected in terms of service and menu. The Char was just a bit underdone but not enough to send it back. This is definitely a special occassion place for us and great for a pre-shiow meal at the Guthrie.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat foodGreat food, atmosphere and service. Many unique and extremely well prepared dishes.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSeaworthyGreat raw bar. Easily the best in the cities. Some of the menu items were ambitious. The ambiance, service, and presentation were top notch. The restaurant is beautiful and the energy was great.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSea ChangeHad the prix fixe, great food, tons of it and nice service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEven the BUTTER was amazing!!!!!!!!Even the BUTTER was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience. He answered every question abou the menu & all of his recommendations were great. The manager for the evening was also attentive to our table. Made my wife's birthday celebration with every dollar spent.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but worth it!We went for my boyfriend's birthday and it was outstanding! The food was delicious, the servers (we had a server and a trainee server, so extra attentive service) were quite knowledgeable, and the ambiance perfect for a romantic dinner for two. There was ample room for groups as well, making it a great spot for impressing guests, whether they be clients or family in from out of town. Wonderful restaurant.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fabulous evening. We had a fabulous evening. Everything was perfect. The food, the wine, the service. Jamie is great!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only disappointment isMy only disappointment is waiting so long to try Sea Change after moving to the area and thinking there is no place to go for seafood in MSP. One of the best meals and eating experiences we have ever had. Our waiters understanding of every detail of the menu made you want to try everything. A new favorite place thanks to both food and service. Without both it just doesn't matter4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit to Sea ChangeOur first visit to Sea Change could not have been better. The ambiance of the space was nice and surprisingly quiet dispite the open nature of the dining area. Our service (Robb) was superb, with the perfect balance of subdued professionalism coupled with friendly knowledge and appropriate advice. All food courses were great. The razor clams casino were uniquely prepared and presented. Our fish dishes (char and haddock) were excellent, as were the desserts. Sea Change is one of the very few restuarants in Twin Cities that serves farro (as a side for sharing) and the awesome "Olivares" as a dessert wine. If you dine at Sea Change, you owe it to yourself to have both farro and Olivares. We'll be back to Sea Change soon.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oyster Bar with the "mystery"The Oyster Bar with the "mystery" wine pairings was exceptionally fun. It was nice to be able to buy one of many types of oysters and compare tastes while comparing the companion wines. I had no idea that there was such a wide variety of taste and texture in oysters so this was educational as well.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTastyEverything was very tasty. Definitely for raw sea food lovers.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely time diningWe had a lovely time dining at Sea Change before attending a performance at the Guthrie. The food is artfully prepared with an eye to delight all aspects of your palate with a variety of flavors and textures. My husband remarked that the octopus was the best he has ever eaten, and he is still talking about the duck and pork rillettes entree. Paul, our server, provided polished and seamless service, and demonstrated thorough knowledge of the menu items and their preparation. This was our first visit to Sea Change, but not our last! Thank you for a memorable meal!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have delicious foodWe always have delicious food and good service but this time it was exceptional. Can't compliment Sea Change enough!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding. ProbablyFood was outstanding. Probably the best fish I've ever had and I lived on the coast in NC/VA for decades. I was very impressed. We will go back.
We went after the show at the Guthrie started and got a great table, excellent service, to go with the wonderful food. What a great restaurant.
