Diner Reviews
  • "Service and food was excellent. We will certainly return when back in the Georgetown area."

  • "Good food..great environment and good service. Will definitely be returning."

  • "We had not been in a couple of years and took out-of-town guests. We had a very good time with the unique setting on the canal and the decor. Bur we thought the food had slipped a little. I have had better rockfish and the corn mash was slightly warm - I could tell if it was supposed to be served cool or had jsut been left out too long. Great sauted spinach though!"

  • "I didn't know what to expect but once my wife and I were seated the staff and their service was really off the charts. I would certainly recommend Sea Catch to others it's a place that's a cut above the rest."

  • "The food and atmosphere was excellent for a dinner meeting"

  • "overall, great experience. We have been to Sea Catch before, and always happy with them - you can hear yourself talk which is a delight!"

  • "Superb ambience. Uncrowded even if tables full. Very low noise level. We chose the outer room which is informal and more lively. The inner room is more formal and European in it's furnishings. Seafood is outstanding. Good wine list. Excellent service. Recommend highly for one on one business meal or for special / romantic events."

  • "Seemed to be geared to large groups rather than couples. Disappointed that my first menu choice was not available but the alternative choice was well done."

  • "Brought out of town visitors to dine here. Food was simply fantastic and our friends thought we had saved the best for last. All our meals were excellent and we recommend Sea Catch to all."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "I thoroughly enjoyed the items we had . Oysters on the half shell -Pacific oysters that were delectable. Snow crab clusters were excellently prepared not overdone at all. The calamari was good but not remarkable. The wine pour was generous. The only observation I have was that I would just go to the bar for my seafood next time. The entrees looked good, but overpriced and I could have received the oysters, wine and I believe the appetizers at half price at the bar. I will be back, but at a happy hour bar scene."

  • "Food was terrific, service too. They accommodated a last-minute switch from 2 to 10 with grace."

  • "Awesome food, beautiful view, and a serene setting right on the canal at the heart of Georgetown. The restaurant could be easy missed from the street, but if is worth finding. A lovely fireplace added a great touch on a chilly spring day."

  • "While we thought the food was good, the dinner arrived before our salads, and after reminding our waiter of this oversight, it took another 5-10 minutes before both salads were on the table (one coming five minutes before we reminded the server again that we had each ordered a salad). We weren't in a hurry and were enjoying our night out, so it was not so much disappointing as unprofessional."

  • "I was in the DC area attending a conference and decided to head over to Georgetown for some shopping and dinner. I did a search on Open Table for the highest rated restaurants in the area and Sea Catch was one of the options. We made a reservation and after a bit of searching for the place (it's a bit hidden), my friend and I had the most amazing dinner. The service was impeccable! I absolutely loved the décor and found it to be quite cozy and charming. I will definitely be back to this little gem when ever I'm in the area again."

  • "Excellent service, delicious food, well-priced wine list, friendly staff, great happy hour at the bar - will definitely dine here again! The scallops were the best I've ever had, and their homemade salad dressings are amazing."

  • "I ate here a year ago while in DC for husband's business trip and returned this past weekend while job hunting with a daughter. It was just as fabulous. We love this seafood restaurant and will try to come whenever we're in town. The outdoor area was not open due to chilly weather, but so cozy inside as we were fortunate to be seated by one of the fireplaces. Calamari was delicious, as were the scallops and rockfish special. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

  • "We were a group of 4 adults and 1 child. The walk up wasn't impressive but it's a great location in Georgetown with access from both M & 31st streets. Thankfully, it has a much nicer feel inside. They have a children's meal which was a nice bonus. The rainbow trout and whole fish sea bass) and the grille shrim and avacado Saudi were awesome! The service was spot on but I couldn't give them a higher rating because they had THE WORST FILET MIGNON ever. I ordered it medium well and it came out the closest I've ever seen a steak to rare. They couldn't fix it without then charring the outside (literally tasted burnt) and the inside was STILL blood red. Stick with the fish and dot even think about ordering the steak!"

  • "This restaurant is fabulous. They accommodated my request to be seated by the fireplace. Due to the fact it was only cool outside and not cold the fireplace was not lit. However they offered to light it for me and turn the flame low. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I would highly recommend Seacatch. The food was delicious and the wine list thorough. Great selections!"

  • "Food was good. The salad was fresh and one easily was plenty for 2 as a side for dinner . The linguine had lots of scallops, shrimp and crab and great flavor but the whole fish was a bit tasteless. The Creme Brûlée was really lovely. After a 20 minute wait for a reserved table, the service was spot on. At the end of the meal, a complimentary after dinner drink was offered. Very nice gesture! Would recommend this restaurant and would certainly return."

  • "Had the 2lb lobster , oyster ceviche and colossal shrimp. Lobster was a litlle over-cooked but fine with me and oyster ceviche was amazing. Hope I dont get vibrio!!! Lol"

  • "This restaurant is tucked away off a side street in Georgetown. It was close to the movie theater, so I thought it would be perfect for dinner and a movie date night. It is a cozy restaurant, open with a huge fireplace. The service was great too, very attentive waitress, and the manager brought us complimentary after dinner drinks. However, the food was a major disappointment. We ordered the tuna tartar appetizer. The quality of the tuna was fine, but it was so boring. No flavors to spice it up and no crust on the outside. I had the mahi mahi for dinner and again, it just had no flavor. I also had the risotto and vegetable medley for sides. The vegetable medley just tastes like butter, salt, and pepper, and the risotto tasted like paste."

  • "I opened "Sea Catch" 5 years ago! Since that time it is the best sea food restaurant in DC for me... And for my friends from all over the world who had a chance to visit it! Great food, wonderful service, warm atmosphere! Thank you!)"

  • "Sea Catch always delivers, especially on flavor. This time, we started with clams casino, which were excellent. The entrees were the mahi mahi and swordfish from the grill. Both were prepared simply, but to perfection."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our recent visit to Sea Catch. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. It's a nice location in Georgetown, but set back off the main street. Perfect for small groups or couples."

  • "Wonderful Valentine. My Husband and I had dinner here on Valentine's day. We loved the ambience, food was great, the wine list could do with a little more options but over all we enjoyed the day. Thank you"

  • "We went to Valentine's Day. They seemed to be understaffed, so we waited for our food for almost 45 minutes. The food was fair, but the prime rib was overcooked and the brownie was dry, like it had been sitting out. It was disappointing for the price."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The customer service was great, the location was great and the food was on point. We went for Valentines day and everything was great, but the bill was a bit expensive. We knew this before we got there, so it was not a shock. I would recomment this place as a nice place to dine."

  • "Very romantic ambiance, excellent staff, impeccable meal. We will definitely return on our next trip to DC. Very romantic setting which made for a wonderful Valentines dinner. Thank you Sea Catch for a memorable evening."

  • "the manager was very kind and engaged, treated everyone in the birthday party with a drink on the house. Loved the attention and the service."

  • "I had not been here in quite a while and I was a little concerned that I may not get the experience I enjoyed in years past. But, I'm pleased to say I was not disappointed. The service is still excellent, knowledgeable about the menu offerings and quite attentive. I'm on a strict diet, but I had no problem substituting side item that were not on my diet. I had the crab cake and my guest had the mahi mahi. We were both very pleased. The French fries came as I requested without salt but they still had great taste and my sautéed spinach was very tasty. My guest had rice and a vegetable medley and she enjoyed both. If you like Georgetown and you love seafood, this is still the best in that area and one of the best restaurants in DC."

  • "Not accommodating of my gluten free requirements even after confirming that they would have options... They didn't. We were seated in the 1980 section of the restaurant. Service was slow despite having a fixed menu that we were not previously aware of. Not a great wine list, the food was so-so but not nearly worth the $200 spent on dinner for two. Overall we were extremely disappointed, but we did have fun making fun of the buffet style plates, dated room decor, and "romantic" single carnation in an old glass on our table. What a disaster."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "I was disappointed in the food and sadly this was my 3rd time dining here where in past it was very good. The pre fix menu may have been a factor, and thus mass produced but the prime rib, was not that flavorful, nor the Lobster dish. I can’t say any of it was very tasty or memorable. I may give another chance and see if a non pre fix dining experience is the best choice since that is how I had experienced my last two times."

  • "Well, it was valentines day with a fixed menu. We tried almost everything they offered on the fixed menu. They brought us wrong food 3 times and also we had to wait over 15 minutes for our wine because someone had to go "upstairs" to go get our wine. However, the food was delicious and the environment was fantastic."

  • "I tried to post my actual review but it was to long to go through. Went here for valentines day dinner after being here many time before. Expected the normal scenery and food. Ended up in the conference/party room. 25 tables surrounded by 4 walls with mirrors floor to ceiling no decoration...Romantic. Food was bland, boring and ugly even for being a pre-set meal (I thought that would make it easier on the kitchen..) All in all, was an embarrassing valentines day dinner at a place I thought would be fairly enjoyable. I couldn't even hold a conversation because I couldn't get my mind off the circus ambience. Would not recommend for any special occasion. Saw many people get seated and leave, I should have followed."

  • "We have been to Sea Catch before and really liked it, but we were a little disappointed this time. We went for the special Valentine's 5-course menu, and the first course was a two-bite amuse bouchee. The fish was a bit mushy and oversauced, and the other dishes were not very special. The best course was the dessert. We chose the brownie sundae and it was very nice."

  • "I will get to the point it took one hour to get our salads. We made a request for lemons for our water, the second time after an hour. The food for the price of $75 per person was terrible. My expectation for the location in Georgetown DC, the decor is to receive the service and quality of food the on line web page conveys. I would not go there again and nor would I recommend Sea Catch to anyone. There was a couple who brought their baby of which cried and cried and cried. Clearly the child disrupted all the surrounding tables. Additionally, other visitors clearly were dissatisfied with the service asking for the same things over and over. It to an additional 30 minutes to get our check."

  • "Made a reservation after seeing Sea Catch advertised as one of DC's most romantic restaurants. Our table was in the back room, which was large and crowded, feeling like a cafeteria. The style was dated, even by DC standards. There was a stain on the tablecloth. When I notified the hostess, she asked if I wanted her to change it, instead of just changing it. Menu seemed tired. My wife and I decided it wouldn't be worth the $150 prix fixe price and left."
