SEA180° - a coastal tavern, brings contemporary beachfront dining to one of San Diego’s most distinctive locales. With sweeping “180 degree” views of the Coronado Islands, South Bay and Mexico, the name SEA180° was coined from the expansive ocean views visible from every corner of the establishment and is just steps from the stunning Imperial Beach sand. Located on the ground level of Pier South Resort, named for the nearby Imperial Beach pier, SEA180° provides one of the few dining options in San Diego that is truly oceanfront.

  • "This restaurant was different. They had a few normal choices but most of the menu was meant for sharing. Everyone chooses an item or two and then everyone at the table shares a little bit of everything. I had an excellent Shrimp Risotto and Caesar Salad. One of my sons had beef tongue taquitos. Another had mushroom filled ravioli. There was more than enough for everyone. We even took home a couple of boxes of leftovers."

  • "The outdoor dining is pretty amazing as you get to watch the ocean roll in just a few feet from you, and the sunset drop at dusk. Nothing very special about the food we ordered. Grilled oysters were a big, fat, waste of money. They were just a giant oyster shell crammed with an insane amount of unseasoned breadcrumbs, and very little oyster. It takes about 3 bites to finish each oyster and the first 2 bites are pure breadcrumbs. I guess if you sit around at home eating handfuls of breadcrumbs then this is the dish for you. The tuna tacos were actually decent and served with very fresh tuna. Mac & cheese runny and bland--needs salt. The Wagyu Cheeseburger was my favorite of the evening and actually quite good, with an amazing bacon jam."

  • "We enjoyed the food but disappointed that even with a reservation requesting patio seating we were seated inside. The patio tables are on a table available basis. The restaurant was ver busy and the noise level was very high making it almost impossible to carry on a conversation. As we left I noticed the slightly elevated booths at the back of the restaurant seemed to be in a quiter area. Our orders were not timed well and our food came out at different times and was delivered to the wrong people at our table. The glass of wine pours are very generous. We always enjoy dining at Cohn restaurants but were a little disappointed here."

  • "The service was very good. The menu has a few choices that are very well selected and good. A bit in the expensive side but there are good choices for a reasonable prices (e.g., cheeseburger $15, Mac and cheese $12). Overall, excellent. I will definitely go back."

It is highly recommended and worth the drive to Imperial Beach, or as we did, spend the night in the beautiful hotel."

  • "Beautiful view of the ocean great decor. Went for breakfast and our party of 3 almost had the place to ourselves. The food took a long time to arrive, strange since there were not that many people there. The food was.not hot just warm. The sausage gravy was very good, would have been better if it were warmer. Had to ask for more coffee several times, no one came around to ask if I needed a refill. The staff was very friendly but seemed to have trouble gettingfrom one end of the restaurant to the other in less than 15 minutes. serve the food warmer and fill my coffee cup and it would be better."

  • "Great location, great ambience, great service but don't go there hungry. Portions are small. I ordered the whole fish and it might have been about 3-4 ounces of eatable fish for $26. I'm use to order whole fish at Chinese restaurants where they give you a large 12-16 ounce sole for much less money."

  • "This place was horrible! Don't waste your time or money! We asked for a table outside to watch the sunset - hostess sat us outside but just outside - behind a pole and no where near where we could see anything! After several complaints, we secured another table ourselves. The food was bad - tried a couple of appetizers to share and they were barely edible. We ordered dinner afterwards and nothing was much better. The burgers are bland, the buns stale - just awful for the price! Our waitress did a disappearing act after our food was delivered - didn't bother to see if we needed anything! We had to chase her down for our bill too. A total disappointment and a place we certainly won't return to!"

  • "Returned to Sea 180 after our first visit on Valentine's Day with a fixed menu. Enjoyed the whole fish and lobster with mac and cheese. Food, ambiance and service were great and we are glad to live within walking distance of this new restaurant which IB has needed since Long Juans burnt to the ground in the late '70's."

  • "We were skeptical about a high-end restaurant opening in Imperial Beach but this one is here to stay. The view, service, and food were all well above expected and we'll definitely be back. Our waitress was very friendly and explained the menu in detail. We had a few shared dishes, which gave us an opportunity for variety in our meal. We watched the sunset over the ocean. For my birthday they brought out a free dessert. Job well done!"

  • "Sea 180 is definitely an above average restaurant. The ambiance is nice, the view is spectacular and the food is very good. I was a little disappointed in the size of the share plates but they were very tasty. The distance to the place is a little far for me (coming from U.T.C.) so I wouldn't go that often but if I'm in the area I would go again. The server we had was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. Buffalo meat balls were outstanding. Scallops were delicious. Garlic flat bread was a little dry. Calamari was outstanding. Crab pot stickers were pretty good. The cocktail menu could use a few more drinks."

Service was very good as we had to wait a little longer than expected to get drinks and food. Total time between arriving and departing on a Saturday night was 1 1/2 hours. A long line had formed waiting to get in as we left so reservations would be recommended."

  • "Great place, went for my mothers birthday. They aren't from here and we have been to most of the local places. It was like going to a modern version of the Hotel Del with amazing beach views! Your right on the sand at dinner. The service was amazing. My mother dropped her napkin and 5 seconds later the waiter came over with a new one. Hotel is lovely and such a nice surprise when you go there."

  • "Food was very good, lots of flavor in each bite. Limited menu for chicken and white fish (e.g, cod, sea bass, etc) lovers but once I found a dish, it was excellent. Red meat was tender, the mashed potatoes were to die for and the hummus and bread dish was delicious. The desserts were so so but the coffee was great. The martini's were outstanding! I'll be back."

  • "Suitable for couples, friends , family, and even singles when needing to clear the mind. Food is fun and very good. We had a great value Cohn's coupon (passport) and used it here. We dined inside due to rain, but next time outside by the sea. Service was first rate, we had a slightly boisterous birthday party arrive next to us, and asked Management to move us to a quieter spot for desert, which they thoughtfully and discretely did, to everyone's satisfaction. The 70-year-old had her lovely celebration with many generations present, which we applaud, and we had peace. Management double-checked with us, as first-raters should. We look forward to returning ourselves, with friends or with the kids and grandkids. This is a repeater."

  • "Service by Rachel was very good. Even a fake smile would have lent a more cordial atmosphere. The drink we ordered was a mispour. Staff insisted it was a correct pour and substituted another choice. Our preference would have been for staff to at least admit the POSSIBILITY of a mispour and repour what we originally ordered rather than offer a different wine. Our original order was a Gloria Ferrar Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine, and I suspect we were poured a Moscato, as it was far too sweet to be the Blanc de Blanc-of which we are very familiar, and drink often."

  • "We enjoyed Sea 180 during Restaurant Week and decided to celebrate my husband's birthday there. It was Saturday night and, like many other places, very noisy. We observed both wait staff and managers racing to provide food - great effort. At our table of 5, 3 loved their meals (chicken, lamb, pasta) and two had meals that were good but not great (duck, filet). We will return, but probably not on the weekend."

  • "The restaurant and hotel are amazingly designed. The food needs work. The menu is designed to offer "shared bites" or appetizers with a limited entree menu. We ordered appetizers: grilled oysters & goat cheese tamale. The tamale masa was so overcooked it was like eating rubber. Oysters were good, but the oysters themselves were literally the size of a dime. Entrees: I ordered the grilled whole fish. The sauce and the preparation of the fish were quite tasty. My husband's pasta was a 6 out of 10. We ordered the chocolate dessert, which again, was so-so. The wine list was impressive. Great wine list. Because of the view and design, we may give it another try. Would be a great place to take out-of-towners if they can get the food right."

  • "What a great location (the farthest south in the continental US) on the sand with a great patio, indoor bar and streamlined restaurant. Ate here with my wife and family, six total. We ate shared plates with a wide variety of seafood, meat and vegetable specialties. All were way above normal and presently attractively. Service was both attentive and efficient, every dish was served at the proper temperature. In short, a memorable evening."

  • "It's a new spot, and they still need to work out some bugs. Somewhat perfunctory reception--it felt like they were just doing their job. It took along time to get served and then between coffee and tea refills for breakfast. Hand prints all over glass door to patio. Men's room had one paper towel left and overflowing trashcan at 10.30am. Cozy blankets and heaters a nice touch for the patio. Food was ok, but not enough to draw us back."
