We've been to this restaurant a
few times over the past few years, and always seem to come away with the same feeling. The place has a warm lively atmosphere and a good price point - that sweet spot that's nice enough for a good dinner, but inexpensive enough for a regular night out. The primary problem is the food. Very uneven. Usually one or two diners are happy, while at least one or two are not."

First time at Scutra. Liked the
menu but waited for service for 10 minutes once we were seated. Nice ambiance - feels like a local place, not too dressy. Decent wine list. Had two apps, the sourdough bruchetta which we liked and a special beet/tomato salad which had a very spicy sauce (which wasn't mentioned by the waiter) and we wouldn't have again. For entrees we had the double pork chop and the raviolis which were very good. The service was spotty - we didn't get fresh silverware with our dinners and since we couldn't get a server's attention finally just took knives from the next table. Again after dinner waited for 10 minutes before the table was cleared. Overall good food but not great service. Would try it again."

We had been to Scutra several
years ago, and liked it a lot. This time the food was not as good. The perch tempura was too greasy and had added cream sauce. The Pialla was more a chioppino."

First time, glad we checked it
out. Our meal was terrific, all fresh ingredients great flavors. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk with. Will recommend."

It has it all for a fraction of
the price of the downtown old guard. Run don't walk to Scutra."
Dined on 2/17/2014
Waited at least 20 min to order
food after drinks were served. Partner received wrong beer. Asked3 times for a glass of water. My meal was over cooked, rubbery and the portion was quite small. My partners meal was fine - but have had better elsewhere. There are too many other nice places to try before we would return to Scutra again."

Overpriced for the quality. When
you combine small servings, we leave not wanting to go back again. The paella was more like overcooked seafood stew.. Other dishes were unremarkable. Eggplant-crab appetizer was flat in flavor. Cocktails skimp on alcohol. One of our party of 4 ordered a glass of wine which was poured to fill only a quarter of the glass. Appearances are everything so I suggest they use a smaller glass. For a Friday night and having empty tables, one would think they should re-evaluate their business model."

his place was a wonderful surprise
to my fiance and I! The prices were EXTREMELY reasonable for food that was not only delicious but also clever and original. We had crab wrapped in eggplant, limincello squid, PORK OSSO BUCO, and VEAL MEATLOAF. Each meal was plated beautifully and had numerous layers of taste that blended perfectly. I can easily say that the food here was better then a restaurant at the Elephant Walk level and almost as good as a place like Rendezvous. As an added bonus it is GREAT for people with a gluten allergy! Many options and all marked on the menu."

High quality food prepared to
perfection! Outstanding staff who take the time to explain the dishes and get to know you. Be sure to make a reservation though because they are popular!"

Excellent first date spot to
impress as well as a place to enjoy great food, wine."

A for presentation Website menu
should be updated more often to reflects actual choices. Tuna special appetizer: sushi grade served on top of avocado in a square plate with tiny compartments wins both taste and presentation. Parking is tight if restaurant is full. Not an issue for locals."

Went with friends for dinner.
Portions were very small, but artistic.. Wine list was overpriced and very limited.."

Having just moved to Arlington, I
was on the hunt for a great local spot. Well I found one in Scutra. The food, service and atmosphere were very good. It is a cozy spot and I look forward to returning soon."

Overall, delightful experience.
Food was excellent for all at our table."

We've been to Scutra a number of
times and usually really like it. This time we ordered the filet special, med rare. It came under-cooked, cold and purple-red in the center. We asked for a bit more cooking. After waiting a considerable time, filet arrived back at our table--this time cooked to the point of being inedible -- charred on the outside and gray inside. The person delivering it didn't stay to see if it was ok. We ate the rest of the meal, and I took the filet home to the dog. Our server was very apologetic. But it seems the kitchen really didn't handle this well. What a shame."

We had a great time on a recent
cold winter evening. Two appetizers were wonderful - braised rib spring roll with a spicy miso dipping sauce and a salmon strudel with a sublime lobster sauce. Entrees were interesting - veal meatloaf was tasty and just the thing for a cold evening and Paella was excellent and generous. The scotch glazed carrot cake with caramel ice cream was a great way to end the evening - and a great dessert without chocolate. By the way the homemade bread - especially the 7 grain - is very good. The service was friendly and attentive. The wine list is short, but nice. The pinots by the glass (white and red) went well with our meals. All in all a great meal on a bitter cold evening."

Great, creative food. Much more
reasonable than similar fare in Boston. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is wonderful. Probably our favorite restaurant in the Boston area."

Creative and interesting, but
limited, menu for New Year's Eve. It seemed busy (like a weekend evening), but not crazy (not all tables were filled). Our server was friendly and professional. Even with the limited menu (only 2 entrees to choose from), we waited over 20 minutes after completing our "intermezzo" before receiving our entrees."
Dined on 12/31/2013
We had a very pleasant New Years
eve. Good food and excellent service. Will go again."

always been very happy with food
at Scutra, the gem of the neighborhood; very friendly and rapid service; however this time was not our best meal there - one appetizer of crab and lobster sauce was outstanding, the other of meat wrappers with tomato sauce was not something to reorder; the French Fries with the steak were not crunchy , and the cod fish entree very well presented but somewhat bland to my taste. We love their bread, it is always excellent. Overall a nice evening and we still recommend Scutra ; we will definitively return it is one of our favorite restaurant."

We had such a good experience on
our 1st visit in early December that we brought 2 couples with us for a pre Christmas celebration. Drinks with Brian at the bar was fun - we requested some oldies and he did not disappoint! All agreed the apps were excellent, but unfortunately 4 of 6 were disappointed with their entrees. Chicken w/asparagus and risotto was not as expected and seemed a smallish portion to my brother-in-law. The other 3 disappointed customers all had the banana leaf wrapped cod. While they all said it was tasty, the portion size was very small - especially given it was a light fish dish. The apple turnover in phyllo was awesome!!"

Thanks to our server who guided us
through the menu. The bartender serves up a careful martini. These are folks who serve great food and offer a very personal dining experience. They really get into your head and make sure everything is just so. Our group ordered every desert to share. Each one was fabulous. There is something for every tase. Even our fussy vegetarian was delighted."

From appetizer to dessert, the
food was outstanding. we had a attentive and pleasant waitress. Would recommend this local gem to anyone who appreciates a great place!"

Scutra is a wonderful restaurant
in an out of the way location in Arlington. The ambience is warm and inviting. The food is imaginative and tasty. Parking right out front makes it easy for guests that cannot walk moderate distances. Gluten-free items are marked right on the menu to make that choice easy for those that require it. Service was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing."
Dined on 11/23/2013
great menu; I'm always impressed
when there are more than one or two entrees that sound really interesting and worth trying - there were several on the menu and the one i picked (tile fish) was outstanding. Prices were very reasonable and the wine recommendations were great. I will be back."
Dined on 11/23/2013
My husband and I both ordered
seafood entrees since their seafood had been so good the last time we ate here, a few years back. I am sorry to report that my lobster paella was way too salty. It also contained large rings of squid so tough I could not chew them enough to swallow them safely."

Had dinner with my son on a
Saturday night. Service was excellent, very accommodating to requests. Food was delicious, staff was knowledgeable of menu and beverages. Nice ambience. Quiet enough to have a conversation without being stuffy."

My wife and I dined at Scutra the
other night and had a good time. We shared the warm spinach salad which has been on the menu before and was excellent. I had the double cut pork chop and she had the salmon. Both our dishes were good, but didn't blow us away as some of Scutra's dishes have in the past. The were still tasty and a good value for the price. We'll definitely be back."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Food was tasty but lukewarm at
best. My fault - I did not complain but I also feel as tho the server and kitchen should check before they send it out. I ordered the dinner special - crabmeat stuffed sole, but lukewarm didn't do much for the flavor. i have been to Scutra before and had great food, so just one of those times. My dinner partner loved her meal and it was hot!"

We've been going to Scutra for
years for birthdays, anniversaries, out of town visitors and other special occasions. The food is excellent and service also great. The only quibble I have is the TV in the bar, usually turned to sports. It's not a large restaurant, so it's hard to ignore it, but I understand some people like their sports."

Hidden away on Summer Street in
Arlington, a neighborhood gem. Support local, great food, service too! VERY reasonably priced and everything delicious. Belgian style mussels, OH YEAH"
Dined on 10/31/2013
All of our entrees and appetizers
were outstanding! I especially recommend the garlic Parmesan baked mussels."
Dined on 10/30/2013
We had the mussel special which
was delicious. We'll be back again."

Scutra never fails! It's always
such a pleasure to dine and enjoy the fantastic service. The food was amazing- delicious, nice portions, excellent bread with dipping oil. The wine pours by the glass are generous. Even the milk was nicely heated for our freshly made and extra delicious coffee! A gem tucked away into Arlington-- don't miss it!"

My husband and I tried Scutra at
the suggestion of a co-worker, and it turned out to be terrific dining experience. Although not a fancy location or setting the food was gourmet and better than I have had at most high end restaurants in Boston. Atmosphere was warm and friendly, drinks were great, and the prices were very reasonable. I had a delicious bruchetta salad to start which had loads of flavor and huge chunks of fresh and fragrant tomatoes. I had the halibut special served with a couscous salad. Generous portion of fish and it was so soft and buttery with complex flavors in every bite. Desert was an apple turnover which had a great crust and soft carmelized apples with flavors that enhanced the apples. Delicious!"

Very friendly and knowledgable
staff. A lot of unique dinner choices."
Dined on 10/18/2013
The special baked mussel appetizer
was dreamy, as were the thick, warm hunks of seeded bread and the amazingly delectable olive oil to go with it. Hope Scutra will continue the mussels as a regular item."

We went to celebrate both a
friend's and my birthday. We were looking for something special and elegant. We were not disappointed. The wait staff was courteous, attentive and very friendly. The food was outrageously good. Some of the combinations were new and creative yet worked well together. My favorites were the appetizer "calamari fries" with a red bell pepper dipping sauce, and my dessert, an eggnog cheesecake with caramel sauce. Very nice cocktails too. A very picky eater might not find something to their liking here, as there are no simple steak and potato standbys, but for those with adventurous palettes, this restaurant is a true find."
Dined on 10/19/2013
We were three: a colleague, my
wife and me. Very nice menu selections making it hard to choose both apps and entrees. North African Veal Meatloaf was outstanding. My colleague is a seafood lover from the South Shore. He highly recommends the Pad Thai Style Coconut Clams and the Paella. Location is very easy to get to if you are north of Boston inside 128. Great for a nice dinner right after work."
Dined on 10/15/2013
Dining at Scutra's was most
pleasant. For example, there were notable beer choices, good service, no feeling of being rushed and delectable food. The music was not to my liking."
