Diner Reviews
  • "You cannot beat the location! The views of the river and downtown skyline are beautiful, and just when you get your fill of the views, the 1st Street/Water Street bridge starts to open to let a boat through! Patio space is also nice and open and not cramped like many other places. The sushi is great, and the portions are decent sizes."

  • "We just told the server we were vegan and henoffered us a vegan plate for too with an estimate on cost. Came out shortly after with 5 amazing rolls. You had a couple normal ones like ACA, and veggie combo. But also got a vegan hash roll and tofu veggie roll which most places dont offer. Overall it was an amazing place."

  • "I had a wonderful brunch with my son on a Sunday after church. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast dish with eggs, hashbrowns and salmon was incredible! I look forward to visiting again."

  • "The food and service is great at screaming tuna there wasn't one time I went there that the food wasn't delicious. The service is great."

  • "I put my hands of Sushi Chef and asked him to prepare the freshest fish for me. He prepared a wonderful assortment based on the freshest products he had. I have not been disappointed with any of my meals here. Creative preparation and fresh fish make for a great combination! The staff is helpful and friendly. Now that it has warmed up there is great seating overlooking the water."

  • "This is a beautiful setting on the Point on the River in the 5th ward just over the south bridge of the 3rd ward. The food is excellent. The sushi is very good and fresh. They have an excellent selection of rolls and sake, and they will make special requests."

  • "First time visiting Screaming Tuna! Did not disappoint! Our waiter, Kit, was extremely helpful and knowledgable and even talked us into trying sake for the first time. Great experience!"

  • "Foods was amazing! Loved the spicy tuna and yellow fin rolls. The kobe specialty roll is good - very unique. Love the view of Milwaukee. "

  • "What a wonderful spot for sushi right on the water! My waiter made an excellent wine recommendation! I put my dinner in the hands of the sushi chef, Wesley, and he did not disappoint! He only served me the freshest fish and had some creative pairings. By allowing the sushi chef to select my dinner I tried some new fish that I might now have ventured to try on my own. The staff is extremely helpful and nice! I am gluten free and they are very attentive and accommodating. This has become my regular sushi spot in Milwaukee - and I can't wait to go back!"

  • "The food was good but not the best sushi we have ever had. Deserts were great and so were appetizers. They did have some unique sushi rolls so try the ones you haven't had before!"

  • "We just discovered Screaming Tuna, and it was a fantastic experience. It's a great location, an awesome view of downtown and the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is well worth the price, fresh and flavorful, and a fantastic variety of delicious sushi. It also has many other selections as well for the non sushi person. The only issue was it was a bit loud, a little quieter would have been nice. Overall though a very wonderful dining location."

  • "We were told by the server that the specialty rolls got 10 to 11 pieces to them. My wife and I both received only eight pieces of sushi and our specialty rolls which we paid almost $18 for each. They tasted good, but they were small considering we were promised larger. The server was very nice and knowledgeable and gave us a free anniversary dessert which was awesome."

  • "I thought the rolls were a little small and I felt I was still hungry after 2 rolls. I know I could've ordered another roll, but other places I have been to the rollers a little more filling that I didn't need more than 2. Just a personal opinion. Otherwise great food and loved the Monday night special! "

  • "Excellent wait staff and the sea food was well prepared and fresh. They have very good sushi selection. The tempura was light and quite delicious."

  • "Sushi was really good with just the right amount of new ideas to make it interesting. The view of the River was excellent, and I can't wait to go back when its nice enough to have the doors open. Interior design was great! A little strange that the service was so slow considering there were only a few tables full."

  • "It seems appropriate to be looking out on the river when eating sushi. This contemporary, energetic restaurant has everything a sushi-lover could want. The list of available sake is also impressive. The quality of the sushi rivals restaurants on the coasts. Highly recommend."

  • "I loved the atmosphere. This place is where it's at!!! The sushi is amazing. The pear martini even better!!"

  • "This food would be amazing at any time; however, S.I.N. Sunday was a steal. $15-17.50 specialty rolls for just $7.75! Lots of other great sushi at discounted prices. They do it all again on Monday nights, adding tapas/apps to the discount mix. Highly recommended, especially on one of the S.I.N. nights!!!"

  • "Located on the riverside with an open patio for summer dining. Simple, clean, mod atmosphere. Despite my party showing up with one additional person, the restaurant accommodated us nicely. The service was great, with suggestions for various sushi rolls to share (sadly out of yellow tail tuna tho). Warning, the screaming tuna roll packs a punch (in a good way, if you like spicy hot)! I had asked in my Open Table reservation comments whether they had anything "special" for birthday celebrations (we were celebrating two birthdays within our group); to our happy surprise, at the end of dinner, the waiter brought out two delicious desserts, complete with candles! I would highly recommend Screaming Tuna restaurant."

  • "the waiter was rarely around to assist us. The crab Rangoon was outstanding, their signature rolls were over priced and not very good quality. Nice Sake selection, but again pricey. Beautiful scenic view, will probably never go back. The menu is not very extensive, Fujiyama is much better quality food, better selection, more options, cheaper, and friendlier service. I will not be recommending this place to anyone."

  • "This is the 2nd year my wife and I have gone for the Valentine's day special, and not once have we been disappointed. The food is delicious, and the service is fantastic the very second you walk in the door (literally!). It was a bit loud, but with how busy it was, it's to be expected."

  • "Everything but the seating was great. We reserved our dinner plans 4 days earlier and the table wasn't a table but a place to eat at the countertop bar by the food prep area. I do understand the place was busy but I think they overbooked and did a very poor job of managing it. What's the point of a reservation for a table for two if we going to be placed at a bar facing the kitchen."

  • "We dined at Screaming Tuna for New Years Eve and Valentines Day. Both times we had the special dinner and special it was. Wine and special drink offerings were very good. Food selection and quality, just superb. Service was very good but not exceptional. Only problem with this place is the nose factor. There is nothing in the restaurant to absorb the noise of the other diners and when it is busy the noise level is almost deafining. On weekends lots of young people congregate and try to talk (yell) above the fray. In summer when the doors are open it is not quite as bad."

  • "For reference - I ate the following maki rolls: spicy tuna, philly, spider, signature, champion. We ate on feb 15 (saturday after vday). I was very disappointed. I order a spicy tuna, philly and a spider everywhere I go. These were, by far, the blandest rolls I've had. It almost seemed as if the spicy tuna was just minced tuna. My wife enjoyed the signature roll and thought the champion roll was okay. To me the only thing I tasted with the champion roll was the wasabi mayo - which carried no wasabi flavor. We also ordered the crab chipotle wontons. The sauce was a nice touch, but the mixture carried no flavor of chipotle nor any noticeable crab meat."

  • "We love sushi and Screaming Tuna is the best sushi restaurant we have had the pleasure of dining at. Highly recommended. A must eat."

  • "Such a neat location, right on the river. Loved the view, and while I dined in winter, imagine it would be just fabulous outdoors in the summer. I met a colleague for dinner during the week and we shared the edamame (delicious) and a couple of the Maki rolls. I enjoy sushi, but am not a connoisseur by any means. Thought it was just delicious - the mango especially. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very kind, gave us lots of space but was still attentive. Would go again for sure."

  • "The entrance is the entrance to the condo building.. One would think it would be under the huge Screaming Tuna sign. No parking. popcorn squid.. greasy.. almost raw hot saki- the bottle was hot mango roll- chilled.. too cold. yuck eithe icecream or tempuara bananas for dessert. was ok.- not rushing back... was given the bill which included the previous diners at our tables order.. We we stood up to fix... server was already saying...oh its wrong isn't it... She knew but didn't fix it... was she waiting to see if we would pay the whole thing?"

  • "The sushi at Screaming Tuna is good. I would say above average definitely by Milwaukee standards. It wasn't outrageously exceptional, but my friend and I fully enjoyed all seven rolls we tried. We went on a Sunday night for 1/2 price rolls and sushi, so I was a little leary about the freshness of the fish, but everything tasted very fresh. The service was fast and friendly as well as accommodating. We wanted the mango roll, but prefered it with fish, so they gladly added salmon to the roll for an extra $2. Two rolls I would highly recommend are the El Hamachi and the Kraken. There were so many different textures and yummy flavors going on in the Kraken it was a real treat. The El Hamachi was a nice contrast because it was so refreshing."

  • "Definitely coming back next time I am in Milwaukee. Great location and great fresh take on sushi and Asian cuisine. Only thing I did not like was our waitress read the entire menu to us and we were new to the restaurant... not to sushi. So it was a little off putting and time wasting but other than that she was great! And I HIGHLY recommend the ginger hot saki!"
