Diner Reviews
  • "Fish and chips, blackened-fish sandwich, prawn-and-avocado sandwich -- all good. Fish was hot enough to be interesting, but the heat didn't linger after the meal. Prawns and avocado seemed plain; ingredients are good and carry the day, but there was no extra interesting flavoring. We left the caramel off the ice-cream sundae and thought it was great (toasting the nuts is the key)."

  • "Very good seafood, friendly service, definitely recommend. Located at a busy outdoor shopping mall so ambiance is limited. There are several outdoor tables but it's not a romantic setting. Good for business meals or dining with friends."

  • "I've been to this restaurant before and had a good experience. The waiter we had this visit was terrible. I think at one point he had forgotten that we were even there. We had to ask other staff several times for our waiter to come back so we could place our dinner order. Very unprofessional. I will probably visit this restaurant again as the food is very good. I hope this was an isolated incident as this guy was just bad!"

  • "Perfect restaurant if you don't want to dress formal but still have wonderful food (the salmon was amazing). It's a romantic atmosphere without the high price. We had a live band playing quiet romantic music the night we were there. There's some cute shopping just outside and the historical Stanford campus is just across the street for a beautiful walk afterwards."

  • "The menu has not changed too much over the years. The food was just ok. One of our adult diners asked for deep fried prawns. They gave her the kids fried shrimp. The Jack London Square Scotts has done this before and used regular size prawns. My chicken marsala was a little too sweet, but ok."

  • "Scott's is a favorite of ours and has been for several years. The staff is professional and attentive, and the food is always excellent. We appreciate how flexible they are with requests ("no potatoes, extra vegetables" for example). We go monthly and often bring out of town guests, who look forward to the fine meal they will have."

  • "We have been to Scott's many times and we thought with making a last minute reservations on one of the busiest celebration day worked out well. We tend to avoid going out on the busiest days but decided to just go for it and it worked out pleasantly well. The seafood is consistently done well and the service is always very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. This is one of our go to restaurants for our out of town guests. Never disappointing."

  • "Scott's was overbooked for Valentine's Day dinner, so we had to stand in a crowd in the entry and wait to be called. Not the best way to start an expensive, dressed-up, special occasion dinner. We were finally seated in the far corner of an ante-room. It was quiet, but the servers had a hard time squeezing past other tables to even get to us. We ordered the champagne, filet and lobster package meal for two. The salads and lobsters were great. One steak was much too rare (blue) and had to be sent back. We were a little disappointed that the chocolate dessert was a small portion that was to be shared. Sharing would be fine, but it should be a more generous portion. Not quite satisfying."

  • "They were jammed by 6:00; we were seated in the banquet room (I would not be surprised if the kitchen had tables that night! I told our server (who was not seen for the first 10 minutes) we needed to be out by 7:00 for a concert. The service was great. The meal was as good as we always expect (long time patrons) and the fish was still wiggling it was so fresh! We had a delightful experience; the trio in the bar was at a nice level and played marvelous music for the occasion. The wait staff teamed to make the evening move and yet be enjoyable without feeling rushed or anxious."

  • "The restaurant was very busy on Valentine's Day, and parking was difficult. We waited a couple of minutes to be seated, and were taken to a table next to the bar and a live band--couldn't walk past the couples dancing or hear over the music, so asked to be seated in a nearby quieter room. The blackened ahi appetizer was tasty, but the wasabi cream sauce needed more heat. Friend had the cioppino, which he said was very good, but missing crab. I had the steamed clams appetizer as dinner--very good with a garlicky broth to dip the sourdough bread in. Shared the chocolate souffle with vanilla bean ice cream dessert--yum! Service was very attentive. Overall-excellent dinner, even on a busy Valentine's Day."

  • "Food was fine, but didn't think it was exceptional. We went on Valentine's Day, so it was busy, our wait person was attentive in the beginning, but the wait for the dessert menu and the Bill was long. The scallops in my salad were sharp-tasting, like they weren't fresh. The portion of calamari in the appetizer was HUGE -- much more than expected for an appetizer and more than what two people could eat for an entree. Ahi tuna was cooked to perfection. Creme caramel was excellent. Our experience was not special enough to return, considering the drive."

  • "We had a great occasion for dinner out. Our mother turned 91. Mom loves seafood and Scott's is a nice place to take someone who is in a wheelchair. They are very accommodating and made a great fuss over our mom."

  • "I usually come to Scott's during lunch with my customers due to the fact that they have great food, service and it isn't too noisy so we can talk to our customers while having lunch. Love this place! :-)"

  • "If you are craving fresh seafood consistently well prepared, this is your place. Not only is the seafood delicious, so also are the accompanying vegetables. Scott's Seafood is a neighborhood gem."

  • "Everything was fine. We had one cocktail each ,a half bottle of wine, two entrees. The bill was $160.00 For that I will take Flea Street or the Pub, however we would not have leftovers, which we do from this night. Although my NY steak is just ok and the pasta with crab just ok. I would like to see if they have a bar menu, several people eating there. might be an ok mid week spot. I would suggest this for lunch."

  • "Scott's is a chain of seafood restaurants that serves predictably good food. The service is quick and attentive but they do not hover. The night I went with a friend, there was a band in the bar and every seat there was taken. The only complaint we had was that the lighting was so din that it was difficult to read the menus."

  • "Well known Palo Alto restaurant that was once a diner. Wonderful seafood and beef dishes and great service. Casual dining and a small bar."

  • "Excellent choices of fresh seafood, including sustainable salmon, trout, and many other choices. There is also a good selection of white wines, although they are a little pricey, with a midpoint around $50 (for an admittedly excellent Acacia Chardonnay). The desserts are notable, especially the melts-in-your-mouth chocolate soufflé. One nice thing at Scott's is that the tables and booths offer generous amounts of space, so you're not (involuntarily) rubbing elbows with your neighbors."

  • "Scott's is a busy place at noon on a Sunday. I felt bad for our waiter, who was hustling as fast as he could. There was no way he could ever keep up with all the tables assigned to him, though, even if he were on roller skates. The restaurant was seriously short-handed when we were there, although the food was as good as ever. Two in our group ordered the seafood on a puff pastry special, which was as delicious as it sounded. It came with a flavorful sauce, rice and green beans and a few slivers of bell peppers. My husband throughly enjoyed his grilled prawn Cobb salad, and my aunt raved about her rainbow trout. Our waiter remained upbeat and as helpful as possible, but we experienced long waits for everything."

  • "Went to lunch during busy Saturday at Town and Country village. Scott's is quite reliable and nice quiet spot to get away from noise and frenzy. Had a great chowder, scallop salad. We also had greT fish and chips with snapper. Good service and overall experience."

  • "How can any kitchen make a white wine, butter, and garlic sauté unappealing? These guys managed. Scallops were way too salty, prawns tasted pre-frozen, dungeness crab chunks were one redeemable part of the meal. My husband's salmon dish was not bad, but not good either. Just bland."

  • "They have an early bird menu which is really a good deal. Two members of our party arrived very late due to traffic and our waiter was very good about accommodating them even after the rest of us had eaten."

  • "Went there the Sunday after Thanksgiving in a group of five. Food was okay. Service was friendly, but not attentive. They delivered four of five meals, with one of those a salad with "dressing on the side." Getting the fifth meal, and the dressing, took a lot of time, and there was no reason for this. The place was not busy. Might go back again, or not. This could have been so much better."

  • "Food was great, setting was super comfortable and plush, server had the polite and articulate tableside manner you expect when surrounded by rich Stanford parents eating in palo alto. The entrees were very well thought out by some master chef that obviously knows what they are doing. Download their menu and read it through and you'll see what I mean."
