Diner Reviews
  • "Food was blah and expensive. View was nice. Would try something else next time."

  • "Unfortunately our party of 4 was seated next to a party of 16. had difficult time with our conversations, otherwise food and service very good."

  • "The seafood is always fresh and wonderful. My husband and I went to Scott's to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful surprise to receive a beautiful long stemmed red rose with a red bow around the package. They also took a birthday picture of us. Scott's surprise even made my birthday more special. Thank you Scott's. Diane"

  • "We have dined here several times and are always happy with the experience. Scott's is a large and comfortable, but can get very busy. There is an outside patio. The cuisine is upscale and a bit pricy. The menu changes frequently and always includes great seafood dishes. Our entrees included Dungeness crab encrusted swordfish, cedar planked orange and bourbon salmon (great Jack Daniels glaze). Our excellent appetizers included a warm artichoke and crab gratin (Yum!). Desserts are great including Pauline’s Rumcake. There is a full bar and nice wine list. Service is good, but can be a little slow when the restaurant is slammed. Complimentary Valet parking in adjacent parking garage is a big deal in parking-unfriendly Walnut Creek."

  • "The Sunday brunch was delicious, if you like seafood you are in for a real treat. The service was very good , refills on our mimosas were constant. I am hoping to return real soon, I reside in the Central Valley so it won't be too often I visit but if I'm in the area it'll be in my plans."

  • "I had crab cake Benedict and the portion was tiny for the money"

  • "The view at sunset is not to be missed. The orange and bourbon sauce salmon was delicious and the run cake made the drive home dangerous. The great sea food and ambiance makes up for inexperienced waitstaff."

  • "We made a last minute reservation and could not have been happier with how well Scott's took care of us. Beautiful table, attentive but relaxed/friendly service. The Oysters Rockefeller were terrific! Thanks for such a great evening."

  • "Wonderful as always. It was a celebration for my mom's 79th birthday and the staff could not have been more attentive! My salmon was amazing, the view beautiful and my mom was very, very happy!"

  • "Outstanding evening - my son's 26th birthday. Service was excellent and very friendly. They quietly presented a small special dessert for his birthday - none of that silly singing Happy Birthday. The view and food were excellent as always."

  • "I was told that Scott's was the place for seafood. I reserved a large party reservation for a birthday party and had great expectations. The table seating had great views of the water and place settings were up to par. Unfortunately, the food was drenched. I mean drenched with every type of sauce including butter and garlic mainly which made the food thick and sticky. If you are used to a serious heavy meal, and I don't mean portions then this is the place for you. I was really just expecting fresh seafood which I did not receive. Some of the guests I was with liked the food, but for myself it was not my idea of seafood."

  • "Scott's is a real white tablecloth restaurant with service to match. It's food and service is always consistently good. I have never been disappointed in the many times I've been there. Scott's Oakland has a great view of the Port of Oakland. The ships and sailboats in the Oakland estuary make wonderful entertainment."

  • "We chose Scott's while traveling out of town, because of radio advertisement. Sounded perfect and we're 20 years married in two months. So every week we are celebrating out anniversary. Food was delish. Restaurant staff incredibly attentive and they clearly read the OpenTable rez, because we got a "pre-anniversary" desert, song, and photo without a word beyond our OpenTable rez! Will definitely go back!"

  • "We wanted to spend our last night in California eating here! Scott's comped a bottle of wine to commemorate our move to Florida. They even took a picture of us, printed it out and gave it to us upon our departure. Food was wonderful and Jackie was a great server. Loved it all!"

  • "Live jazz, hostess par excellence, miniature hotcakes and mimosas as a starter to the brunch, prime rib to die for, three kinds of eggs benedict, four kinds of salmon, baby tamales, great service, and special treats for birthday celebrations, including roses, photos, and sorbet with a candle."

  • "Scott's Oakland is always reliable for great dishes and great service. My wife and I celebrated her birthday recently, and everything was perfect. They weren't that busy and the pace was relaxed. We were there at sunset, and the harbor view was incredible. We were pleasantly surprised by sherbet, a rose, and a photo. Didn't really expect that much, but we really appreciated it. A bit pricy, but worth it for those special times."

  • "Took my wife to Scott's for lunch after a long day and a half with appointments and daily life. The service was excellent, the food was great and the ambiance.....just sitting outside next to the water enjoying lunch and a glass of wine made it all worthwhile."

  • "Scott's, Jack London used to be fabulous. Menu never changes, food is ok and just does not measure up like it used to. We do not need to return here. Other restaurants have opened up in the area, I think they are taking away customers, my wife and I being one."

  • "The Sea Bass was a great choice after a long travel day. I started it off with the crab/avocado salad, which is a bit pricey but delicious."

  • "Been going there for more than 20 years. My last visit was dissapointibg with almost every aspect of fine dining. Slow service, cold ( never turned on heaters outside), only 2 tables occupied outside. No excuse for service level. Took 2 1/2 hrs for 1 drink and dinner. Never order their fried prawns. Just wasnt up to par. Will go back as my past experiences were quite pleasurable and memorable."

  • "I have always love Scott's Seafood. I was a fan when it was at the Embarcadero in .Francisco and I became a fan when I moved to the East Bay. Thank you for helping celebrate a birthday"

  • "Scott's never fails to come through as a special place to celebrate a birthday. We went on a Sunday and ate in the lounge. The wonderful singer came over to our table to sing a special rendition of happy birthday, bringing our friend to tears. The jazz brought back old memories, especially when "I'm in Heaven" was sung. Our friend said, we made his day and to top it off the candlelit sorbet was loating atop dry ice and picture perfect. Speaking of pictures, the photograph taken at the end was a great memento of our time together. Thanks, Scott's for delightinig our friend and us."

  • "Knowing this is primarily a seafood restaurant, I'd hoped for more vegetarian options just in case my dining companion was one. She was but Scott's doesn't have much to offer to non-animal flesh eaters other than salads, pasta primavera and baked potatoes. We managed her needs with the salad and a potato... My meal was as delicious as expected: blackened salmon, baked potato, spinach, a combination I've had there before and always enjoy it. The Boudin bread is impossible to resist, even for someone who feels better when gluten-free, so I don't even try. Ambience was perfect. We had a window table and the noise level was quiet at that hour (8pm). All in all, a pleasant, distraction-free, gracious experience. HIghly recommended."

  • "I will never eat here again. My steak was tuff my broccoli was cold my bake potato was over cook. I had 13 people in my party out of 13 people 6 of us didn't like the food. I sent mine back and did not eat anything. I don't like how they put the tip on bill when the serve was bad. My bill 775.00 and for what. The service was super slow and the place not full at all. I am so unhappy and it was my mom birthday. None of the plates match the carpet was dirty and for the price I paid I don't think so. Never ever again."

  • "The Jazz music and New Orleans flavored menu made this one of the coolest buffet brunches I have been to. The bottomless mimosas were a treat. I have paid the same price for other Buffet Brunches and they did not compare to this experience!"

  • "My wife loved the relaxed feel of Scott's. She just could not stop speaking well of the overall experience we had. It was our anniversary celebration of 27 years and Scott's was the perfect place to celebrate. The music and the scenic view made the experience that much more enjoyable. This is the place to celebrate almost any occasion. You are missing out if you haven't given Scott's restaurant a visit. Thank you, Charles, O."

  • "Service was a little too slow even though there were only a moderate number of diners and what seemed like a sufficient number of servers. Great place for a business lunch but it would be helpful to have servers pay more attention to timing. Food was good. And the bay view on a bright sunny day was unsurpassed and impressive for our guests."

  • "We sat at 5:15, others around us sat at 5:45 and later. Roughly at 5:45 waiter came over and offered us free clam chowder and stating sorry the kitchen is really backed up. We refused, he gave us salads instead. About 6:10, we witnessed three couples that came way after us getting there food. I asked the waiter what is going on, that couple sat way after us. His response was that his meat was cooked rare. Are you joking I thought. Clock struck 6:25, still no food. I looked at my wife and said lets just go. She wanted to speak with the manager but we had a concert to be at by 7PM, so we grabbed McDonalds."

  • "We've enjoyed Scott's for many years as we live in the neighborhood but we also dine at Kincaid's. We've tried all the other new restaurants in Jack London Square and found them to be just "ok", nothing to speak of. I would like to mention that though we enjoy the food more at Scott's, the service at Kincaid's feels more efficient and professional. It would be nice if the busboy (sorry if I have the incorrect title) didn't reach down to our plates while asking if we're done which makes us seem rather aggressive when saying no because we feel we're having to protect our food. Because we enjoy your food so much we will continue to come."

  • "The service was awful and the food was overpriced. We were seated for over 10 minutes before our waiter even came over to take our drink order and then another 10 minutes before our waiter came back to take our food order. When the food finally arrived, the portions were small and not worth the price. Our waiter only came to check on us once during the time we were eating. Overall, I was not satisfied with the service or food. I will not return to Scott’s Seafood in the future."

  • "With out of town guests, we had a great experience. Piano, great view, very good food. Fish (Salmon, Sea Bass) were choosen by all, along with Caeser salad- very good. Price reasonable. Parking (valet) easy. Ambiance lively yet not overwhelming. Very enjoyable night. Even the two youngsters (11 & 13) enjoyed themselves throughout the three hours we were there."

  • "We were so please to dine here in the heart of Jack London Square. There are many choices here in the bay area however to be able to find parking readily available and have an easy walk to Scotts is a definite plus. I love San Francisco but dealing with traffic and overpopulated restaurants is not pleasant. We will be back again. Our waiter Guillermo I believe his name was great. We will return soon. Mario R. Quintero"

  • "You would expect a restaurant like Scott's to have professional Server's, but we were very disappointed, waited 20 minutes and finally had to flag down someone just to get a drink, the waiter did not know how to speak and present the menu and specials. Seemed like he was just promoted from kitchen help. Would disappear for long periods, had to ask the server from an adjacent area for water and other service items. Bottom line very disappointing if you have a special occasion go some other place."
