Diner Reviews
  • "The service was bad the food came cold and that's all I can say about it it's not the Scott's old time"

  • "My wife and I spent some well deserved time alone for dinner. It was a pleasant experience. For the price the food was good. As for the amount of food serving it was kinda on the small side. Don't let my appetite shun you away though we will likely come back again. Also just an FYI there is no steak of any sort on the menu. That was a surprise for me."

  • "Scott's is not cheap. They charge premium prices and customers should expect premium food and service. Monday night I brought 5 customers to the restaurant. It was not crowded or busy, but I could not get waited on at the bar prior to sitting at our table and I needed to raise my hand and virtually stand up each time I needed to get service to order food or more wine. I will take customers elsewhere from this point forward."

  • "The food was not as good at Scott's this time as it has been in the past. It was not bad, just not particularly special. In addition, service seems to have fallen. We waited nearly 10 minutes after being seated for a waiter to come over, then the appetizer and salad came reasonably quickly. However, even after we asked twice, the table was not cleaned between courses. If I were eating at a coffee shop, I might expect to use the same knife and fork for the appetizer, salad and main course, but a place that wants to provide fine dining should know better."

  • "Sadly the service was very slow and the restaurant wasn't even busy, may be an effect of losing staff, was noted by other patrons"
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "We had the seafood soufflé. It came out cold. I asked them to reheat it. It took 15 minutes! It came back burnt. The waiters never checked on us. It was my birthday. It was horrible. We waited for a waiter to come back for 20 minutes and it was dead inside. What should have been an hour lunch was 2 hours and I missed my next meeting. Do not go."

  • "Well prepared food. Good service. Loved eating outside under the heat lamps."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The Red Snapper was terrible this time, unlike a previous visit."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Just too loud by 6:30pm. Maybe it is my age, but I like to be able to talk to the people with who I am dining, and it gets harder to do that without shouting and them we become a part of the problem."

  • "I've always liked Scotts and Cantakerous. Service is always great. However reminmd me never to order steaks here. I ordered a ribeye and it was one of the worst steaks I have ever eaten. I did mention it to the server that it didn't taste right but nothing was done about it. She tried her best with the service. The fault is definitely the kitchen's. The scallops wrapped in bacon that my wife had was great."

  • "Sea bass and swordfish was tasty but not impressive with fair price. Place was enjoyable and comfortable for seating and atmosphere. Appetizer for Calamari can't go wrong. However, vanilla creme brulee was awful that I am not sure why it can be so wrong that we can't finish and didn't want to finish it (the worst I ever had in the bay area). Guess maybe just wrong chef that day. But for group or lunch, it shall be good to enjoy the feeling and chit chat with decent food. And the waiter was a little weird to ask questions. When we asked for dessert menu (party 2), most restaurants will give you 2 menus. Our server asked how many menu do you need? Well... 2... awkward.. (my friend joked maybe we shall ask for 10 and see how it was)"

  • "The outdoor seating at this Scott's is really nice. The food is very good and overall it is an extremely pleasant dining experience."

  • "We have never had bad food at this restaurant. It is one of our very favorites and any time we see a play in Mountain View we dine at Scott's. Glad that they didn't change when they morphed from Cantankerous Fish. Everything is the same. Seafood Saute is to die for."

  • "I found the portions to be small and the food overpriced, with mediocre quality and flavor. So, a bad value, in my opinion. "

  • "I've enjoyed eating here several times, but there were a bunch of misteps on a recent visit. Things started to go south when the waitress returned to the table to tell us the lobster was not available. This was after we had ordered and made some other decisions. Lobster was switched to steak, which arrived overdone. There were a few issues with the bill too. Ultimately, the restaurant comped us dessert, drinks, and a soup, which were very nice, but we were surprised by the other issues."

  • "A good place for a good dinner. Not exceptional, but quite satisfactory. Especially good for dinner before an event at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts just up the street."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "Best place to go for a variety of seafood dishes, all well-prepared."

  • "Good Service and wonderful jambalaya and a wonderful outdoor set up"

  • "Went for Mother's Day brunch. Have been to many buffett brunches as was disappointed at the limited amount of food, especially dessert. For the price, expected much more to choose from. When we get go there, they had run out of a lot of items. They did refill them but it took a while. Our waiter was extremely slow. He was nice but obiviously had to much to handle. The food was ok but will not be going back."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "They were clearly not prepared for Mother's Day brunch. Very limited selection of food, much of which was gone. The food troughs were mostly empty and what remained often looked fairly disgusting. Denny's would have been better- and I don't eat at Denny's. The waitress was very courteous and attentive."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I love this place but not for Brunch. The restaurant does not have the space for a proper brunch and there was a traffic jam at all stations. I never saw some of the items offered like the Omelet Station and the Prime Rib. Carrie"

  • "Since becoming Scotts the overall quality and more importantly the consistency of the food and service have improved greatly. The prices are excellent and the food is very good. The shrimp and ravioli was a good size and very flavorful. The trout has been excellent the past 3-times we have visited. I would highly recommend Scotts MtVw for a pleasant evening out."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "This was our 3rd visit - the food is very good, but the restaurant is quite noisy. Fine dining should be a relaxed, quiet (so that normal conversation is supported) experience. There is a back room that we sat in the 2nd time in which the noise level was lower, but it was unavailable this time."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Restaurant is convenient to the workplace. Food is generally good, but nothing special related to seafood dishes."
    Dined on 4/30/2014
  • "The food is always consistent, and good. We unfortunately sat in a booth behind some people who never stopped talking the entire time we ate and I could not help but overhear most of their conversation. I think next time I will asked to be seated where there is no one else."
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "their clam chowder is great, but my sea bass was a little dry and overcooked"
    Dined on 4/24/2014
  • "We wanted to like everything but all four of us had very average meals nobody was impressed. My panko sole was mushy and bland the prawn/scallop dish had very little flavor. This in contrast to the side dishes that were fine to salty. Service was good and the drinks particularly the mango mojito were terrific."
    Dined on 4/19/2014
  • "This is a very good place if you're looking for good seafood. The acoustics of the place and the loud clientele around the bar make hearing your date and carrying on a decent conversation almost impossible."
    Dined on 4/18/2014
  • "We waited a long time for drink and water refills, the food was brought by staff as soon as it was ready"

  • "Always consistently excellent both in terms of food and service. Love this place!!"

  • "It was a beautiful warm evening, do our group of 4 dined outside. The food was delicious and the service was good. We had plenty of time to chat and make it to the theater."

  • "I seafood and I eat it! One of the best all around seafood places in the South Bay. Highly recommend the seafood specials."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "We were seated within 10 seconds of check-in. Had clam chowders on our table within 4 minutes. The sourdough bread served warm with lots of butter. Since we brought our own bottle of wine and it needed to be chilled, our waitress was outstanding in getting a chiller and making sure wine cold berfore served. Waitress was extremly attentive and QUICK!"

  • "We got exactly what we came for - good food and service with a stunning view. We were lucky to get a great table by the window and the views were awesome. It was really lovely to go for a walk in the Golden Gate Park before lunch, and then along the coastal trail afterwards so made for a great day out. The food itself is enjoyable but average so as long as you're coming for the overall package you should have a good time. Restaurant could do with more toilets though!"

  • "We celebrated two birthdays (one 88!) at the restaurant Saturday night. The food was excellent, but the service was stellar. Our waitress answered every question, checked foods for allergy person, served an appetizer with others meals as requested. Water glasses kept filled, and gave us time to visit as the evening was winding down. Best of all--the restaurant sprung for TWO desserts--each chosen by the birthday celebrant. Real class to my way of thinking!!! And, I got the bill as requested--it was not sprung on any of the men present!!! (I was the "hostess")"

  • "The food is good -- more innovative than other Scott's and better than I remembered when it was called The Cantankerous Fish. However, service is a bit uneven, with odd gaps when the waiter is not to be found, including between prividing a dessert menu and returning to see if there was interest. (There was, but only just in time to still get to theatre.)"

  • "Food was excellence, server was good, however they messed up our food to go order, giving someone's left orders to us, d so please check, someone mash potatoes instead of calamari,"

  • "I had a great experience my first visit to Scotts Mountain View. Good food, service and ambience. I would go back. If you don't like the seafood, the chicken is very good here."
