Diner Reviews
  • "Scott's seafood dishes are fresh and prepared with amazing flavor. I like the open kitchen design that allows guests to see all the stations in the kitchen."

  • "What a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant with moderate noise, tablecloths, low background music and delicious food. After a while, small plates, industrial decor and loud music get old very quickly. The heirloom tomatoes and burrata cheese were superb. The pasta and seafood dish had an outstanding red sauce. Bread was promptly brought and water was refilled without asking. There is a wide selection of wines by the glass from many countries. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out."

  • "Visited Scott's prior to seeing "Once" at the OCPAC. Arrived early for our reservation and thoroughly enjoyed the service and happy hour options in the bar. For dinner I highly recommend the lobster bisque soup as appetizer. Popular entrees during our this visit were the flat iron steak and the scallops."

  • "My friend and I went for brunch. Not really knowing what we felt like, we ordered 2 savory and 2 sweet items off the menu to share. The mac & cheese was delicious and we LOVED the cheesecake stuffed beignets. We would definitely go back for their brunch, but I would also like to try their lunch and dinner menus."

  • "We love Scott's for dinner. It's always amazing and their service is always very professional. You must have their desserts!"

  • "We drove 2 hours from Los Angeles. My wife and I randomly booked Scott's for a pre-theater dinner prior to attending our first visit to Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts (which is just around the corner from Scotts.) What a lucky event for us! The food was wonderful and the service was attentive without being bothersome. The restaurant was beautiful. It was both spacious and homey. ...The only hiccup? I ordered a sushi appetizer and half-way thru I realized the waiter had brought me the wrong one. When he corrected his mistake, it was so good I offered to pay for both ...Valet parking allowed us to keep our car at Scott's and we walked over to the Theater to enjoy the show. Scott's made this all the easier. Good food! Good memories!"

  • "If you are going to do restaurant week try not to make those who ask for the restaurant week menu feel like second class citizens."

  • "I started going to Scott’s as a very convenient supplement to Segestrom Center shows and concerts. But I stayed because of great food and service. What set Scott’s apart from other establishments is consistency: menu and vine list change over the years but the quality is still there. I always look forward to going back."

  • "My family and I came here for lunch, and we were very impressed with the high level of service. The menu for restaurant week was not quite put together yet, survey allowed us to choose from their current menu. The ambience, presentation, and sense of humor from our waiter was excellent. The food was very delicious, and I know my family will be back here in the future to eat. This is a, special occasions to celebrate."

  • "Came here for restaurant week. They say us with regular menus and then we had to ask for the restaurant week menus. The service was very slow, and I had to clear my own plates between courses. Food was really good. I woke up the next day mad at how much money we spent and how little we got. Overall, I'd rather spend my money somewhere else."

  • "The food was very good. The waiter was very courteous but often so busy with so many other tables that was not readily available."
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "This is your place. Great pre-theater venue where you can dine, see a show and return for your valet-parked car for a mere $3! Talk about "value-added"! We love the sea food, especially the Chilean sea bass and the excellent wine list. One of our favorites! We'll be back!"

  • "Visited opening Friday of Costa Mesa's restaurant week. Expectations were high. Our first course, we had calamari and short rib ravioli. Calamari blew us away with flavor; ravioli tasted like it was frozen (extremely small portion, dry, hard and null of flavor too). We opted to order the caprese style salad and lobster bisque between our restaurant week entree course. Both were amazing! Then flat iron steak which was tender, juicy and loaded with flavor thanks to the chimichurri sauce. My date had the Ono tuna; it was decent, slightly overcooked, she was not impressed. Desserts were decent. Service was impeccable! Bravo to both sides of the house overall! Don't miss out on the calamari; best part of our meal, with the bisque close second."

  • "We knew they had changed the name of Scott's but did not realize that the menu would be missing so many of our favorite fish dishes. The food we had was well prepared and tasted very delicious (albeit a bit salty). We hope the change of menu increases their clientele and it will not stop us, we will be back."

  • "I usually come to Scott's for special occasions such as birthdays or Mothers day. More recently I have been using Scott's as a business lunch meeting place. Great atmosphere, the servers know when to leave you alone, especially when strategizing a meeting with a client and the food really is pretty good. Highly recommended for business but also for family and special occasions. A little pricey but makes for a good meal."

  • "Having been to Scott's for special occasions many times, I believe the food has gone down hill. The normally wonderful sour dough bread was well below par. The clam chowder not up to previous times. Entrees good, but dessert tiny and not good. I will think long and hard before returning to such an expensive place for only fair food. The wait staff was however excellent."

  • "We have been dining at Scott's Seafood for many years and love the seafood (the ceviche is the best I've ever had), the service and the ambiance is excellent and the food is always fresh."

  • "My husbands steak was raw, even the waiter agreed, not medium as asked for. Instead of taking it and throwing it on the grill for a few more minutes they covered it in some kind of sauce, I guess to keep it from drying out, and returned it a little more done...but still on the rare side. It was tough and grizzly. Looked like they just put his whole plate in the oven or broiler, because his potatoes came back more brown too."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary at Scotts before heading to a show at Segersrtom Hall. The food and the service were great. We enjoyed our dinner and were able to talk about our many years together. I would definitely recommend Scotts for special events."

  • "Have had 2 lunches here in the past 6 months. The menu is quite nice and the wait staff very attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommend Scott's!"

  • "Scott's sets the standard for calamari. They serve it two ways and either way works for me. I judge all other calamari dishes by the Scott's standard. I've never had a bad meal at Scott's whether it was for lunch or pre-theatre and I have been going there ever since it opened. I have taken out-of-town guests to Scott's."

  • "From the moment we stepped out of the car we felt very welcomed. The beautiful decor and friendly atmosphere was very sophisticated but not stuffy. The food and wine choices were excellent. My husband and I experienced both dinner and lunch at Scott's and enjoyed the food on both occasions. We will definately recommend this restaurant to family and friends."

  • "Very well done overall. I had the steak which was excellent, especially for a fish/seafood restaurant. Service was excellent. I would go back again for a special evening and it makes it easy if you have theater tickets because you can park there and stroll to SCR or Segerstrom."

  • "The food was very good - I had the crab cake Benedict - the service - our waiter - was not very attentive and at times hard to find. Overall Scott's is a great place for a very quiet Brunch - which is perfect for my hard of hearing uncle - and I would recommend it."

  • "Two reasons to have dinner at Scott's. Never disappointed with meals & service. Great place before going to the theatre!"

  • "We have been coming to Scotts now for several months on the Sundays that we have a matinee performance at the Segerstrom Center. It is so nice to valet park, enjoy a WONDERFUL meal with attentive service and then walk to the performance. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable on the menu - great bloody mary carts, plentiful mimosas - we love the huevos rancheros, eggs benedict, burger, pulled pork pancake - next time we will be trying the paella. Our server this past time, Alfredo, was delightful - so professional and so fun! Scotts is our go-to restaurant - we are coming back this week for dinner."

  • "This is a good place for a business meeting or quiet special occasion. I wanted to eat light, so had a salad that wasn't very good. But I have been here before and had some good things."

  • "Went to Scott's for Sunday brunch. Everything was great from the food to the service. We were the first people there at 11:30am, so there wasn't much of a vibe happening and they hadn't opened the patio yet. Even by the end of our meal we were still nearly alone in the restarant."

  • "The food was good. Service was not bad (polite, etc.) but they forgot our coffee. Then they forgot our tea. Then they brought out a wrongly prepared dish. But they did compensate us and the food here is really good. So overall, recommended for seafood lovers."

  • "Service was excellent -- server visited the table several times. Food was served quickly - and the special touch was the cheesecake stuffed beignets, a perfect ending to our meal."

  • "We arrived early, but they were able to take us in 20 minutes before our reservation. The food and it's presentation were very enjoyable. They seem to be able to handle special requests as I heard other tables order food and they would ask the waiter to make it spicy or not. They definitely know how to cook fish. None of our fish dishes were overcooked."

  • "Scotts was one of the best places to have steak, and we have dined at Scotts multiple times. They recently changed their name, and this was our first visit after the name change happened Unfortunately the food quality has suffered tremendously. They were given multiple tries to get the steak cooked at the right temperature, but they failed to get it right. It was overcooked multiple times and dry. The mushrooms and vegetables lacked the taste and presentation which used to be a hallmark at this restaurant. The only positive was the service which was excellent. Even the manager tried to help out and resolve the situation, but sub par food cannot be made up for by great service."

  • "My parents live in Los Angeles and my wife and I live in San Diego. Scott's is our new "halfway" meeting spot for a "family meal." Lunches are quiet and easy with great food and a terrific, well priced menu. The service is efficient but never rushed and the whole experience very relaxing. We love the Paella so much - but it is only served on Sunday. We are grateful that the chef was willing to make it for us (with advanced notice) on a Saturday as that was the only day we could all get together. The whole staff is great - the waiter that we had on a prior visit even stopped by the table to welcome us back and say, "Hello." We're looking forward to the next visit."
