Diner Reviews
  • "I love the decor just to start. It's classic and understated, without being pretentious . The host/ hostesses are extremely welcoming and friendly. The bar area looks very chic. For starters, the hubs and I got scallops, shrimp cakes, and calamari. All were amazing!! For dinner, we both got the filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. Our waiter was attentive the entire time. The only, and I mean ONLY, complaint would be that because the restaurant and theatre share parking, it took almost 20 minutes to get our car. No biggie , though, just gave me more time for the food to digest. Lol"

  • "Came here before a performance at the Segerstrom Center. Staff is exceptional and clearly well trained. Decor is elegant and classic in a black & white motif. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. Only drawback was trying to get a custom drink from the bar... Apparently the waiter had to fight the sushi chef for a bit of cucumber for my drink. (??) If you happen to be seeing a show at the Center, you can leave your car with the restaurant valet."

  • "We love dining here. Lobster bisque soup was very creamy and delicious. Serving of cioppini was generous and great tasting. Scallop dish was tasty. Polenta did not blend well with dish. Not enough taste to overall dish. Chocolate dessert was not presented well. A dessert should look beautiful. The ice cream fell off the side of the dessert. Sevice was good, waiter probably still in training. General manger was very nice to check in at our table."

  • "we stopped coming for pre theatre brunch last year as the menu and service had really slipped..we returned this past sunday and found things to be much improved! We still miss the prix fixed Brunch menu, but the menu has added more brunch items and a nice champagne/juice assortment. My husband still misses the "Joe's Special""

  • "Went to lunch with my daughter. Started with flatbread pizza, terrific, even though they special, ordered it for us from the bar menu. Followed by Halibut special...really fresh and well prepared. Scott's fries are worth a taste. No wine ordered but list is thorough and varied. Great attentive service. We returned for a nightcap after the NCAA basketball games and they prepared two more flatbreads even though the kitchen had sorta closed. They refired up the oven for us. High recommend"

  • "The unevenness started when we were seated in our booth. Since it was just the 2 for a 4 person booth, the hostess removed the extra place settings diner style with us to reset the table Philip our server was terrific - friendly without being flip; informative without obviously upselling; & he remembered that we it was our Anniversary road trip. The food mirrored the unevenness: the fish - my swordfish & my wife's halibut were perfectly cooked; but my sauce was over sated & my wife's Caesar was over dressed. The worst of the night was cheese plate. There was no point to it. The cheeses were of the same texture, the runner who brought didn't know what he brought, and it was cold. It should not have been done."

  • "Our family went to celebrate Spring holidays - my parents 63rd wedding anniversary, my son's 21st Birthday and my Husbands Birthday. We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was busy but not crazy - my parents are hard of hearing but were just fine carrying on conversation here. My husband is a "small batch" spirits fan and truly enjoyed talking to the bartender about the brands they carry and their specialty cocktails. And for me its all about the fish - fresh, well prepared and perfect portion size to enjoy the whole menu.."

  • "I had been to Scotts a few times in the past few years, and always enjoyed it. However, we all were very disappointed with our lunch experience last Saturday. - Both Bloody Marys had to be sent back and remade as they were extremely spicy and undrinkable. The replacements were still quite spicy. - The food was so-so. The cole slaw that came with the fish and chips was inedible, due to a weird amount of spice/heat in the salad dressing. The "chips" were thick-cut steak fries that seemed out of place on the plate. - No brunch menu options are offered on Saturday. The only good thing to say is that the $3 valet parking works well if you are attending a show at Segerstrom. But the food is overpriced, and the experience disappointing."

  • "I brought a group in before the Shen Yun show, everyone was very accommadating and extrememly nice and helpful, I would definitely go back. The truffle mac & cheese was delicious!"

  • "We have been attending this restaurant for many years. This time it was prior to a show at Segerstrom Hall. We were greeted upon entering by staff, sat down immediately for our reservation. Dinner was extraordinary good. Normally order seafood from this establishment, which is always great - this time ordered the prime rib/rib eye medium rare - delicious, perfectly cooked. My wife and I topped the evening with the souflee dessert (remember to place this order early since it takes 20 minutes to prepare)."

  • "This is our favorite pre-show restaurant for the Segerstrom Theater where we hold season tickets. The Chilean Sea Bass, Pacific Swordfish and other seafood delights are special treats every time we eat at Scott's. The wine list is also good, if a bit pricey. If you are a fish-lover this is YOUR PLACE. If you are not, try Denny's."

  • "Ryan did a superb job from the start--asked if we had any time commitments (we did, for a theater performance) so they could get us out on time. This was NOT an issue at all, given the time of our reservation, but might have been for some larger groups or those taking their time with wine. Unfortunately, that's not an issue for us as my wife's wine is limited and I was the DD for the evening, but it's a great idea to have their servers check ahead of time. Food arrived promptly and was excellent; we split a filet mignon and were delighted Ryan recommended the sauteed mushrooms, which truly added additional complexity and taste benefits! We'll definitely be back soon ahead of our next theater visit!!"

  • "Food and service were great once again. The clam chowder (NE) is one of the best I have ever been served. The seared ahi melts in your mouth, and my wife enjoyed the swordfish. Definitely worth the $$$."

  • "Finally made it here and quite impressed, bit too bright/loud and open, slightly lacking on wine list, excellent food and flexible in preparation, service was very good but when we ordered coffee with skimmed milk twice they came back with semi skimmed. But will certainly come back again and will become one of our few go to rotation restaurants in OC."

  • "I always am confident I'm going to get a great meal and a great wine list. We told our waiter we were going to the theater afterward and she was very conscientious of our timing. The service was prompt and efficient and the food was delicious as expected. I had Scott's signature Sea Bass and it didn't disappoint."

  • "The restaurant is literally across the street from South Coast Plaza. The hostess and waiter were very friendly. We were immediately greeted and seated. I was not blown away by their food. It was mediocre. The cioppino was bland and the portion was very small as well. In all, the food was okay and small portion. The environment was very trendy yet felt very relax and modern. Service was great."

  • "The food here was below par. Not sure if the cooks were rushed due to OC Restaurant Week. I ordered a seafood linguine and my pasta was completely overcooked. There was also too much sauce, and the dish did not look appealing at all. The caesar salad with the fresh catch of the day was okay. Service was very poor- the waiter took a long time to refill the water, and there was a long delay in getting the check."

  • "The service is fantastic, the food is only fair. With so many high dollar resturants in the OC area the food needs to be outstanding all the time. Skip the tuna on the menu."

  • "Every chance we have to get to Scott's, we do. ( We live in Oregon). The beet salad has just the right amount of dressing and the beets are in bite size pieces with feta on top. Seafood is fresh with light sauces. My husband had the flat iron steak that was tender. We always ask for the waiter, Larry Cunningham, as he is a professional and answers questions with knowledge of the entrées and he knows his wines. He also has a subtle sense of humor anyone can enjoy. If you are going to one of the 3 or 4 theaters in the area, they keep things moving to get you there in time. If not, you can eat at your leisure. It really is an enjoyable experience every time!"

  • "Excellent choice for an early dinner before going to concert at Segerstrom Concert Hall nearby. It is in walking distance from the theatre and Scott's will park your car and keep it there while attending the concert. The seafood was fresh and presented expertly. Very attentive service and manager stopped by our table to ask how the meal was. Great place for a special evening or entertaining out-of-town guests."

  • "Food and service were excellent. Only weird thing is the hostess wanting to seat us at a table for 5, when there were only 3 of us. There were plenty of tables for 4, so I didn't quite get that."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "It had been many years since I had eaten at this restaurant. It is convenient to Theater goers, as you can park here, eat and walk to the theater center. The food was good, and the portions quite adequate. The service was very slow. If attending the theater after dining, be sure to allow adequate time."

  • "Wonderful ambiance with delicious food. Two blocks from Segerstrom CFTA, so an ideal place to dine before going to the show. You can even leave your car in their valet lot . The wait staff is fabulous & professional and the bar offerings were varied and delicious. My highest recommendation!"

  • "Scott's does not fail to impress. Service is top-notch from the moment you pull up to valet. Our food was very good and although something wasn't quite hot enough, it was remedied immediately! I love Scott's and will continue to dine here with great frequency. Always a pleasure!"
