Diner Reviews
  • "I am usually very critical of restaurants! Nothing negative to say about Scottos cafe. I have eaten here numerous times and have never been disappointed!"

  • "For great food, feeling special, and good service, Scotto's is a gem of Bel Air!"

  • "Showed up at 6:10 for a 6:15 reservation for two and did not get seated until around 7:00. Numerous other parties of 2 with later reservations for 2 or no reservations were seated before us. The hostess was very disorganized. Once seated the waiter was very friendly and helpful, and the food was above average. I would maybe give this place another try, but probably not on a weekend."

  • "It was out first time dinning here. Had dinner with my wife and daughter. The server was nice, but the food took forever and at 6:15 Friday night when the place wasn't packed so i was a little surprised. it took us over an hour and a half for 3 basic meals. We were not offered any bread either. We may give Scotto's another chance some time down the road, but we have plenty of choices."

  • "Everything was very nice. Our two pasta based dinners were well prepared, great flavors. Our server was attentive, and everything arrived on time. We started with the bruschetta, which wasn't over the top but well prepared. The entrees were a good size if you were starving or enough for a carry out if you have an appetizer and vegetable. Limited beer selection (no crafts), but ample wines available."

  • "I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. My only regret is living in the area for 7 years before I tried it. This place has the best Italian food around for miles. The only time I've had better was in Italy. Great adult romantic atmosphere. I would say this is the best place to take a date in Harford County. Anything you get will impress you."

  • "This was a new place for us to try, and it was a nice place to go - without kids. I didn't see any other tables with children, and I didn't see a children menu, so I think it's a great place to go without bringing the children with you. The eggplant dish was wonderful and my husband had the fish special - which he really enjoyed. Overall, a really nice romantic night out."

  • "For Harford County this restaurant is a standout. Great food, warm atmosphere, and good service. Perfect place for date-night or a group of friends looking for a nice meal without traveling to the city."

  • "Well this was not for me, way too many better restaurants, the meatballs we good but the sauce is like chef Boyardee... I left 60% of my pasta due to the sauce. Dinner for my wife & I was 75.00. Sorry not worth the $$$$"

  • "Pretty loud but I think that was probably due to Valentines Day. Food was great with filling portions and the wife enjoyed the House Pinot."

  • "Scotto's Cafe is our favorite Italian restaurant in the Havre de Grace - Bel Air area. We ordered our usual - my husband ordered the chicken parmesan, and I ordered the Napoli. We dined right before the Super Bowl, so the restaurant was rather empty. Considering fewer patrons in the restaurant than normal, the service was rather slow this particular evening. The shrimp in my dish were a little chewy, but the dry scallops were wonderful."

  • "The restaurant is more than just a neighborhood gem. It is a definite step above. I believe it comparable to a Bonefish Grill. It is when you want more than just a neighborhood gem, willing to pay more, but not 5 star like Special Occasion. Special Occasion is Oregon Grille, Tio Pepe, or Prime Rib etc. We'll definitely be back and left saying why don't dine there more. I believe next time we will try your Tues. thru Thurs. special."

  • "We love Scotto's. We went on Monday night. We had plans to meet up with friends and it got cancelled last minute. So, we didn't feel like going home to cook, so we said lets go to Scotto's. My husband is Italian, so he always loves a good Italian meal and this is always our first choice! YUM!"

  • "One of Scotto's Cafe's strengths is the freshness of their meals, prepared from basic ingredients; there's no thawing out of pre-cooked meals or other short cuts. The specials were the highlight of the menu on New Year's Eve: sea bass, lobster aragosta, lobster tail, filet. Each us had one, prepared with care, and nicely presented. Our server was on top of what we needed, yet never intrusive. At Scotto's, one need not have a "favorite server," for each one offers the highest level of service possible...Victor is the captain of a well-run ship! Noise level was actually between "moderate" and "energetic," but, hey, it was New Year's Eve! It was still sufficiently moderate that the four of us could have a nice, sustained conversation."

  • "Scotto's is one of our favorite restaurants and we thought it would be nice to have NYE dinner locally before ringing in the new year. While we did have about a 30 minute wait for our table (not bad, considering it was NYE), our meal was, as always, absolutely fantastic."

  • "We had a 7:00 reservation and we weren't seated until 7:25. I generally expect to be seated within 10-15 minutes of a reservation time. The service was slow when we were first seated but once our server came to the table, service was fine from then on. The food was good, not amazing, but good Italian food. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience other than the seating delay but it didn't stand out in any way as excellent or special. I would go back, but it's not my first choice for Italian in this area."

  • "We were not intending to dine out that evening. The time slipped away and we jumped on OpenTable and found Scotto's . We had made the reservation 20 minutes prior to arrival and at the reserved time a table was waiting. Scotto's in our judgment not a 4 or 5 star restaurant but an excellent value for casual dining."

  • "Every year a group of 5-6 of us get together for lunch. we always choose Scottos because the food is great and the service is excellent. We are in and out in time for our lunch break."

  • "food is always great here. Dining room is a little cold though"

  • "So the specials on this night were prime rib and salmon. This is the best salmon this side of Norway. And the flavor of the prime rib was unforgettable. Top it off with outstanding service and you've got a great evening."

  • "We were visiting Bel Air for a weekend soccer tournament. Since we don't know the area, we turned to OT for restaurant advice and -- BINGO -- we found Scotto's. The reviews were positive and proved accurate. Our three eaters were pretty hungry, so we each had soup, salad, entree, and dessert. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Pumpkin Crab and Tomato Basel soups - excellent. Arugula salad - hit the spot. Chicken Marsala, Lasagna, and a chicken special were all great. We left stuffed and would definitely return."

  • "Our visit to Scotto's was exceptional. The food was fabulous and Lisa, our wonderful server, did an excellent job representing Scotto's. Lisa was attentive and very kbnowledgeable about the many food offerings and types of pasta. This is my second visit and it was as good as the first."

  • "We dined on the specials, rib eye steak and Chilean Sea Bass. My spouse loved the fish. The steak was flavorful and tender. I vividly recall the taste of the Oysters Rockefeller starter. My meal was complemented nicely by Claymore (spell?) Adobe Red, and my spouse enjoyed a special Italian white (I am not good with names) that is very similar to Greco di Tufo. The strengths of Scotto's are (1) everything prepared from fresh elements (You don't get a thawed out, pre-cooked dish.); (2) excellent food preparation the way we like it; (3) the willingness to prepare anything for which they have the ingredients, even if not listed on the menu; (4) a wait staff that is uniformly excellent and quite in tune with the diner's needs."

  • "We have been dining at Scotto's for at least 20 years, and it continues to be an outstanding neighborhood spot for a quick meal or a leisurely celebration dinner. We were there this weekend for an early dinner after a great movie and enjoyed our fresh salads, shrimp, pasta, and parmigiana meals and the limoncello cake. The wine and coffee were good too! The service was attentive and the prices were fair. We love Scotto's and recommend it heartily"

  • "We eat at Scotto's a lot, and the experience is always great. But this week, Diego had just gotten some fresh tuna and displayed a small cut on Facebook. It was very attractive and turned out to be one of the night's specials. The portion served was about twice the size of the cut on FB and just better than anything you could have wanted. It was grilled (we like ours rare) to perfection and served with a very nice risotto. Scotto's has been doing various risottos recently, in various "flavors," and each is better than the next."

  • "We were a party of six and everyone loved their food. We were not rushed to order or dine and felt we could relax. The service was outstanding. The tomato basil soup was nicely flavored. The Italian entrees varied at our table from lasagna, to shrimp to veal and all were very good. I tried one of the specials of the evening which was chicken and purple potatoes and it was wonderful. Definitely recommend this dining experience. Quiet enough for adults but accommodating to children."

  • "We all had various pasta dishes with regular tomato sauce and found them on a bit spicey side. This was okay for us for a change of pace."
