A word from Scottish Arms
Located in the heart of St Louis' Central West End, The Scottish Arms is a rustic traditional Victorian style pub and a comfortable setting for lunch, dinner and late night entertainment.

The product driven menu changes seasonally focusing on the purity and quality of local ingredients and sustainable farming wherever possible which gives us the ability to create many styles of rustic European cuisine.

Our hearts will always be in Scotland so we will have our famous Scotch Eggs, Haddock n' Chips and Bangers, to name a few, all year round.

Our wine list was carefully crafted focusing on Old World Vintages, over 100 single malts, award winning cocktails and plenty of excellent local and European pints.

Proud to support Hinkebein Hills Farm. Farrar Out Farms. Jones Heritage and Greg Pusczek to name a few.

And, don't miss Sunday Brunch with our famous Bloody Mary Bar, Endless Mimosas, Fresh Squeezed OJ.

Diner Reviews
  • "If you want fish and chips, this is your place. The serving is generous and fried to perfection. We should have started with a lighter appetizer to avoid that over-stuffed feeling but, hey, the fish and chips were so good we could not stop eating them. If you don't want fried food, I recommend the pasty. The crust was delicious and the lamb was quiet tasty."

  • "We found this place on accident while googling restaurants in STL downtown and forest park. My husband's mom is from Scotland so we thought we would try it out. He had spent time on various occasions there. Our reaction was mediocre. The food wasn't extraordinary but it was good to try. The service was good, forgetting g to bring water sometimes. Waiter was very knowledgeable. Menu seemed a little lacking in Scottish cuisine. We would go back with others as a celebration. We also would recommend friends try it. Bar menu was great."

  • "Nice portion of mussels but many of the ones I ate were bad and I left most on the plate. This is the third time I have been there and twice they did not have their much touted Duck Proscuitto. We will most likely not go again."

  • "We quite enjoyed the Scottish Arms. The restaurant is housed in an older building near the Central West End, giving it a really cool, historic vibe. It's one of the more unique restaurants in St. Louis, with a differentiated, quality menu and overall experience. Our friends from the U.K. raved about the fish & chips. The quality of the food and the presentation was very good. Highly recommended for a quality, fun evening of non-chain dining. Fine establishment with great character."

  • "The food at the Scottish Arms was okay - not wonderful. Especially the "Smoked Salmon Profiteroles" appetizer - no hint of salmon - I even asked where it was and the waitress told me it was "incorporated into the dough for the pastry." When I looked closely, the was a speck of pink on one of them, but no flavor at all! The waitress Wendy was great though."

  • "Don't be afraid to try the haggis! It's much better than you'd ever imagine! We shared a platter of appetizers for starters, and then when my fish n chips arrived, I was worried that I'd have to force myself to eat; as I was no longer very hungry. However, the fish n chips, as well as the sautéed peas, were so good that I ended up finishing the huge serving and walking out of the restaurant stuffed to the gills! This was our second trip to the Scottish Arms and we're making it a monthly destination! "

  • "One of my friends recommended we meet at Scottish Arms for dinner when I was in St. Louis. It was a good choice. The food was well prepared and tasty. My only complaint was that the fish dish that I ordered came with no sides like the other entrees. Surprising, especially as it cost a significant percentage more than the other menu items."

  • "The Ambiance was great, the service was great, the food was great, the server even picked out 3 different tours of scotch for us. He new his scotch! It was a great way to celebrate my friends graduation at WashU!"

  • "Good food. The bartender was very knowledgeable. Big whiskey selection. Staff very friendly."

  • "My coworkers and I went here for a dinner, and the waiter was very attentive. However, the seating was somewhat awkward for a group of 8 in a corner. They were also out of some European beers on their menu, but the waiter was quick to suggest appropriate alternatives. The prices were reasonable, and we did not leave hungry. "

  • "Had a very nice meal on the patio at Scottish Arms. They have a great scotch menu and interesting dinner menu. Loved the lamb burger. My only surprise was how many people were allowed to smoke on the patio. I thought smoking in restaurants was banned in St. Louis. All though I could smell the smoke as the people next to me were not smoking, I would have been very upset to have smoke blowing in my face if I were close to one of the many smoking tables. I would definitely return as the place was a nice surprise."

  • "Scottish Arms has an open atmosphere, but much of the seating still allows good intimacy. The Scotch list and server knowledge is awesome and the presentation of these potables is delightful. Nice touch with the traditional Celtic dishes: they actually have two ways of making the haggis enjoyable. How can you not dig waters in kilts, or the tortuous knotting of our server's tie? Some guys were in the next room, singing traditional Scottish songs for tips (unamplified, thank heaven). Really cool. Been here twice and enjoyed it every time."

  • "I only ate at the Scottish Arms one time when I came to St. Louis from out of town. We tried it for the first time on Sunday so I can't comment yet on many of the food items. However, we really enjoyed the patio dining. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and had our dog with us since are traveling. Nevertheless, the staff went out of its way to accommodate us. In addition, the waiter was really friendly and polite. The beer and wine selection are excellent. I also enjoyed the French press coffee and my husband enjoyed his cocktail from the Bloody Mary bar. We returned on Monday for cocktails on the patio. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in town."

  • "First of all, the staff is on their toes and knows all about anything on the menu, including the scotch and alcohol menus. They were very able and willing to recommend items based on our experiences and preferences. Friendly, but non-intrusive. "

  • "I took my girlfriend to the Scottish Arms for her 23rd birthday. We drove down from Springfield. I looked for a restraint near the Fox because we were going to see Joseph that night. My brother who lives in St. Louis said he had heard good things about your restaurant. I checked out the online menu and the variety seemed nice and I was interested in the extensive scotch list. I didn't have any but you seemed to have a good variety of beers on draught as well. Overall, it was a great time and the service was nice. I plan on coming back and would recommend it to others."

  • "Love Scottish Arms for the wide variety of Scotch whiskies and Scottish specialty foods. By far the best item on the menu is their Fish & Chips."

  • "Very helpful with our large group (14). Service was fairly attentive and fun. Since it was a Monday, we were basically the only table in the restaurant which was excellent for us. This also allowed us to get the table earlier than the reservation which made getting drinks and apps before dinner much easier. Food was fairly standard British pub fair, but with a large menu. No complaints. Would def recommend for a large group."

  • "Inconspicuously located on a side street, once you've found this gem you will want to return. Combines traditional favorite with unique surprise food items, a lengthy wine list, and uncommon beer offerings. Lively crowd with lots of smiles."

  • "We had an OUTSTANDING lamb shank and wonderful sides of veggies."

  • "What a great drinking and dining experience. Our party enjoyed some fine wines and beers, from a great selection, before we sat for dining. The bar area has a great feel for a setting in Scotland. The dining area gave the same feel and we sat in a large booth for a quiet and intimate setting. The food was outstanding and I only wish I had room for dessert...maybe next time as I will be returning soon. Our waiter and the staff were exceptional."

  • "We have been here several times. We usually get the same salad: the apple fennel spinach. This time it looked as though it shrunk considerably but for the same price. Disappointing. Our server was very nice but needed to be a little more attentive. Checking back with us when we were nearly done with dinner was a little late."

  • "Chances are if you already know what to expect from Scottish Arms if you're heading there; unbeatable pub fare and the longest list of scotch and other whiskys this side of the pond. Even for St. Patrick's Day the bar and dining room were not overcrowded and the noise level was not distracting - I never felt like I had to talk over the band or the ambient noise to be heard by my friends at the table. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, if you're not quite sure what you're looking for in a drink they are more than happy to tell you. The specials are posted clearly about the dining room and bar but the staff is also quick to let you know about them before handing you the menu. Highly recommended for newbies and connoisseurs alike."

  • "Our group had a very good time. The food was delicious and our server was frequent enough to monitor our needs but not too frequent to constantly interrupt our lunch. This was my second visit and this visit was as good as the first."

  • "Every other time I've eaten at the Scottish Arms I've always had the lamb burger. This time I tried the pork burger and it was equally delicious! Now I don't know which one I'll get next time!"

  • "We were going to the Fox Theatre and found Scottish Arms online so we decided to give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised by the food, the service and the ambiance. Our waiter was knowledgable and efficient and we had an excellent meal that was reasonably priced. We will be back. Thank you."

  • "The food is spectacular- consider it a gourmet menu with Scottish and English (and Indian- great masala) influences. No, they usually don't have traditional haggis- although the haggis fritters are excellent. Peat-smoked chicken, lamb burgers, scotch eggs...so good. The food alone is good enough to justify the visit, but if you are a scotch drinker, it is heaven. Not only do they have an incredible selection (literally pages and pages of options), but you have mix-and-match flight options and a staff that can give you spot-on recommendations based on what else you like."

  • "Few places in town have a delicious lunch and a delicious dinner menu to match; it's usually one or the other. Scottish Arms has managed to win me over in both categories. I always enjoy the lamb burger and after trying the Americana breakfast, it's also become one of my favorites. Scotch eggs are a must regardless of the meal and the scotch bloody mary was a great treat as well. I didn't even need to add salt to my scrambled eggs. Delish!"

  • "Scottish Arms is consistently good food with a nice crowd. They also serve a lot of single malt Scotch by shot or dram, so you can try them without spending $50+ for a bottle only to find out you did not like it. The restaurants food spans the range of pub food to fine dinning and you will not be disappointed. Its weakest link are desserts. So, just order a little Scotch or have another Belhaven Wee Heavy instead. Service is always courteous and prompt here too."

  • "I had the lamb shank yet again and it did not dissapoint. My dining partner tried the bangers and mash and it was good as well. Always have to try a different single malt while there. The servers recommendation was very good!"

  • "We had 8 for an early dinner before going to see The Man from La Mancha at the Peabody. The service and atmosphere were perfect. Good Scotch, french wines, cheese tray, all excellent. Everyone enjoyed their food with the lamb shank getting very high marks. I had the fish and chips and it was very good. The bread pudding was also a hit. Fabulous comfort food restaurant that we highly recommend and frequent often."

  • "I've lived in St. Louis All my life & never been to Scottish arms our server was great the food delicious & the Bloody Mary bar pretty cool. I also took advantage of the bottomless mimosas that were made fresh.it was too chilly to enjoy the patio but I will defiantly return again."

  • "My friend and mine's plans fell through with another Sunday Brunch location, so we picked the Scottish Arms out the night before. We were both pretty bummed to not be going where we initially planned, but by the end of the meal we were glad the plans changed! The host was really nice, as was the waiter (though he didn't show up very often). I got the coffee, which came out in a insulated french press and was AMAZING. We ordered a Breakfast burger, the Stuffed French Toast, and the Scottish Breakfast (the brunch menu is slightly different than what they have on their website)."

  • "I was at The Scottish Arms for the Robert Burns Night celebration. The food was very good, however the place was packed with people and the service suffered for it. The planning for the celebration was chaotic at best, with events happening at different times in different areas of the restaurant. If you were in one area, you couldn't easily take part in another event. They had entertainment there, but the entertainment was trying to get their equipment set up while we were eating. That should have been taken care of in advance, but I don't blame the restaurant for that. Had to wait 15-20 minutes for the waiter to bring me my check, then another 15 minutes for him to run my credit card and return it to me."
