A word from Scopa Neighbourhood Italian
Scopa is a lively Italian-inspired neighbourhood restaurant located in the heart of the Tuxedo Park Community in Calgary. Community is at our core and we work hard to create an atmosphere where our guests are received as if going somewhere familiar, just as you would find in small town eateries all over Italy.

Chef Sheldon Guindon seeks out seasonally fresh, local ingredients and allows them to shine in boldly-flavored contemporary Italian preparations with an emphasis on simplicity. We match our culinary offerings with a hand-selected wine list, served by knowledgeable, friendly, and genuine food and wine enthusiasts.

Really, we just love to eat and drink fine things and share them with our friends.

Everything from the restaurant was awesome except for our waitress. When the waitress approach she seems insincere and not genuine to help us. Wasn't happy that we didn't order alcohol or wine. No eye contact was given to me but fine with the 2 ladies I was with. When the special was read, she didn't even look at me, just the 2 girls I was with. Maybe I was of an Asian decent? Same treatment through-out the night and I didn't feel special as we were there to celebrate my birthday .I didn't get a refill on my water but every other table around me got refills and the waitress even asked if the lady from our table wanted a refill on her ice tea. Such horrible treatment to a minority. Never coming back!

Our first visit to Scopa was great. Our server was terrific, the food was great, people working in the restaurant were very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed a leisurely 2.5-3 hr dinner and never felt like we needed to hurry up--and we sampled from most of the menu. Definitely would return.

We really enjoyed our first trip to Scopa! The food was tasty and the service was great. We especially enjoyed the polenta bread and the caprese salad. I had the pistachio pesto farfalle - nice, but lacking... something? A squeeze of lemon brightened it up. The pasta with seafood was beautiful! Topped our meal off with cannolli - mmm! We'll be back again :)

This restaurant was a lovely find - it is truly a neighbourhood gem. Each of the four of us ordered a different meal and none of the plates were disappointing! The caprese salad was excellent (coming form someone who eats a lot of caprese salads around the world!), and my friend who ordered the veal could not stop exclaiming how perfectly it was prepared! The only only neutral comment was that the lasagne could have had a bit more interest to it as the expectation was for many more layers of flavour. I look forward to trying the pizza!

We easily made a dinner reservation via Open Table and had a short, pleasant walk to the restaurant. The interior is modern and there was an energetic, mixed group of diners (families, groups, couples,...). The restaurant has a good selection of wines by the glass, half litre, or bottle. We had a great caprese salad to start off, made with very fresh ingredients (ripe beef tomato, excellent fresh mozzarella, fresh basil,...). Dinners were the beef manzo (sliced tenderloin) and seafood linguine. The scallops and shrimp in the linguine were cooked to perfection. Both dishes had excellent overall flavourings and presentation. We will be back!

This was our first time to Scopa - love the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. Good choices for wine, both by the bottle or by the glass. The food was delicious!!! Both my guest and I choose a pasta dish - it was cooked perfectly. The menu choices highlight local and fresh ingredients; some very creative combinations. Small kinks are still being worked out with the serving staff - our waitress did not know they had a lunch special but that will get worked out quickly- at teh time we went, the restaurant hadn't even been open a week. We will certainly go back.

This new restaurant is in the northwest which is to my liking. The food was interesting and tasty. Service was wonderful. The restaurant is next door to an Italian market so my friend and I visited the market after lunch. This was our first visit there and were delighted with the market as well as the restaurant. An extra bonus! We will definitely return.

We loved Boccavino (the restaurant that was in this space) for it's consistent, down-to-earth Italian fare. And we had had heard good things about Scopa. For us though, it was a terribly off night for the kitchen. One of two appetizers came out cold (bruschetta). One main (lamb shoulder) that tough, fatty, and served on a bed of cool, bitter roasted cauliflower puree. The second main was an amazing lasagna served cold. And oddly, I'd already seen two lasagna plates go back to the kitchen, and mentioned it to the server (as in, please make sure mine is done right!). We won't be back.

We love the location, and the atmosphere. The wine list was great, lots to chose from in all price ranges. The service was a little slow, I think they were a little under staffed when we were there. The food was good, but not mind blowing. We'll definately go back, because the location is great and convinient, and maybe they were just having an off day with the service.

Thought the food was decent but have had better Italian for the price. Our group of 3 all had the specials (1 pasta, 2 risotto) so maybe regular menu items would have been better. We may try it again as it's conveniently located for us. It wasn't bad, just not overly memorable.

We have been coming to this place since it was Tino's 30 Years ago, I loved that even though the place has been sold a few times, they always kept the Authentic Italian taste. That is now gone, unfortunately you will see that a lot of Italians will give it a try like we did but will not return. The food is very canadianized too modern, the menu change was to much too quick. We felt like we were at a restaurant chain right away. Loved the renos has that look if a restaurant in New York City. With that being said, I'm a Busy Real Estate Agent with my office on 4 St and 24th NW, always brought my clients for lunch there, now we'll have to to D'aguidos down the street...Sorry I'm very honest about my opinion.

I had higher hopes when Scopa replaced Boccavino. I was disappointed with the menu selections, the pricing and the food itself. I ordered the bruschetta and Caesar salad, and was very disappointed with both. The bruschetta was on focaccia bread (way too thick and soft, was listed on menu as crustini) and needed more garlic. I did enjoy the goat cheese spread under the bruschetta, but that was the best part of it. The Caesar salad needed more dressing, and a tastier dressing at that. I was just disappointed in Scopa period.

We were fans of Boccavino's and were loking forward to the new format. We were diappaointed and will not returnt to this restaurant. For a venue billed as neighborthood italian it sure missed the mark. There is nothing neighborly about this place. Our server was friendly, when we saw him, service was slow, manager had to bring bill, food was deliverd by a server who basically dropped the dishes on the table. No bread to start the meal, no frsh pepper to add flavour, pasta on the main dish was dry, and cold. $28 main dish, while tasty, did not have any plate appeal at all. Seemd to loose interest in us after I had one overpriced glass of wine and then declined to order any more.

Three of us wanted to try out this newly opened Italian restaurant. We had ordered the following for appetizers: meatballs, saffron risotto cakes and the focaccia bread. All items were very tasty and the portions were good. I would recommend all these items. For entrees two of us ordered the Spaghetti alla Carbonara and the third person ordered the Garganelli. The entrees again were good size portions and full of flavor. We ended up taking leftovers. My first choice for an entrée was the lasagna and was told that they ran out. (I found this surprising since it is an Italian restaurant and it was only 6:30 pm.) I will be coming back to Scopa for sure to try other items on the menu.
