The restauarnt looked beautiful and had a good vibe. Some in our group requested minor variations to their entrees which was met with complete acceptance by our server. Menu was very inetersting and 1/2 pasta portions were available which allowed some to try multiple pasta selections. We asked our waitress for some food recommendations and she was very helpful. In particular she recommended the Kale Salad. I couldn't believe it but my sister-in-law who ate it thought it was excellent. I hadn't been to Scoozi for many years but I found the food and service to be very good. Both were delicious! The veal meatballs were a little overcooked but still very tasty. They came with a chunky marinara sauce that had a little spice to it which I liked. Ambiance was great as the building is old and was preserved. My only complaint was the cocktails. I tried 2 types before switching to wine - that is something I never do. The room is lovely, love the openness and the energy....yet still very cozy. Everything we ordered was impeccable! We loved our appetizers. The beets were SO yummy, grilled calamari perhaps the best I have ever had!, the lobster pizza was out of this world! Chopped chicken salad was superb! But oh my...the braised short rib was exceptional! I have a few favorite restaurants that serve braised short rib, and thought I had already found the best...until I ate at Scoozi! Their braised short rib is now my official favorite and #1 in my book! Got there an hour early and asked to be seated when possible. We had already opted for the pub tables near the bar when our name was called at 6:58. I thought that was a bit weak, but we got the best waiter in the place. This guy juggled a bunch of tables but he was on. Shrimp/scallop risotto was spot-on and the arrabiata good as ever (do yourself a favor and go mozzarella instead of the goat cheese). With the first bite of food, my boyfriend and I fell in love with the place. The food was full of flavor and fantastic. The restaurant has a large, open design and is very nice. I was surprised to find it was moderatly priced. It's great for a couple on a special night out, large groups, families, or casual dining. The waitstaff was attentive but but not overly bothersome. The only negative I found was that the place was rather loud. First course was a choice of appetizer, not just soup or salad but appetizer which was great (yummy calamari). The bread was awesome too. There was also a good selection of main courses. I thought the pasta seemed kind of hard, but not terrible. There were a handful of choices for dessert - loved the tiramisu. And finally it came with a glass of wine INCLUDED! Unfortunately the place was crawling with teenagers, notably 2 tables of 10 each next to us. But service was still great.
