Our Fisherman's Wharf seafood restaurant is steeped in a family tradition of quality and service. Still family owned and operated, Scoma’s opened in 1965, when brothers Al and Joe Scoma took over a six table coffee shop serving fishermen on the wharf. Using their mother’s recipe collection, the Scoma brothers' humble café evolved over the years becoming the quintessential San Francisco dining destination it is today.Continued

  • "There are a boatload of restaurants at Fisherman's Wharf and after looking at dozens of online sites with customer reviews I chose SCOMA's for a seafood dinner. I love Clam Chowder so I usually order it whenever I am eating at a seafood restaurant the first time. Scoma's clam chowder rates a 10 out of 10 in my book. For an entrée I selected the whole Dungeness Crab roasted in olive oil, garlic and lemon juice. Very messy and very tasty. The crab was large and the butter and garlic sauce really enhanced the flavor of the crabmeat. I will definitely be returning to Scoma's on my next trip to San Francisco."

  • "This is my 3rd visit to Scoma's in the last seven years. From "beef country," it is always a joy to visit San Fran and see what is going on with the seafood scene. Scoma's is traditional but incredibly good...why change something that is good, will always be good in a friendly, somewhat noisy environment. My wife had the halibut and I had the shrimp risotto along with a couple of mix green salads. We made reservations on Open Table but arrived about 45 min early. We sat in the bar area and partook in a side of scallops and Prosecco for my wife and a glass of Brancott sauvignon blanc for me. Simply fabulous! Then, promptly sat down at our table (requested window and got it) and had another memorable evening. Won't be disappointed!"

  • "Scoma's always has a great variety of foods on their menu. I always go for the seafood as it is usually so fresh. I was a tad disappointed this time as my entree was not hot upon arrival, although the ahi was quite tasty. The lobster bisque was also quite good. Everyone else was very happy with their entree choices. Two of our group had just had birthdays, and out waiter brought out one chocolate and one plain slice of cheesecake with candles for dessert as a surprise which was quite nice. It was also a nice change to be told to take our time, stay as long as we liked, even after paying the bill."

Everyone in the party loved their meals, including the non-seafood lover, who said her fillet was melt-in-her-mouth good. The calimari is tender and you cannot beat Scoma's sauté!"

  • "Scomas never disappoints, from the service, the food, and the great location near fisherman's wharf, but secluded down a little alleyway away from the hustle bustle of the wharf.....a look out the window while dining reveals an armada of fishing boats ready for their early morning run.....Coit tower and the city loom in the distance....of. Ourselves, the food is the thing here...crab cakes were crunchy and mouth watering.....salmon cooked translucent, just the way we like it...the sour dough bread better than incredible....we've been here a zillion times and will be back a zillion more...."

  • "Scoma's was (and is) a great choice for seafood. I live in the Bay area and enjoyed bringing 3 out of town guests to "the wharf" for seafood. I had a res for 6:00.....was seated within 20 minutes......great table with view of Mt. Tam.......Bruce our waiter was especially knowledgeable of the choices on the menu......and other items not on the menu......for example......I really like petrale sole dore. it was not on the menu but was offered by my asking.......food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering and was cooked to perfection......4 different people with 4 different menu items and all was delicious. There is little wonder why people wait outside to go inside and dine as this is the best restaurant on the wharf."

  • "It's been a number of years since I have been to Scoma's but it is still fabulous. The food was fabulous, service great and atmosphere perfect for a seafood restaurant right on the bay. We had lunch and although the menu looked really pricey initially, the prix fixe lunch was very reasonable - $24.95 for a first course, entree and delicious dessert. Can't wait to come to the city again soon and have lunch or dinner at Scoma's."

  • "Enjoyed Scoma's restaurant for my third time. The only issue I really have is the portions are huge! We ordered the Ahi appetizer and of course the wonderful cup of clam chowder, then came our entrée. I wish they offered 1/2 size portions at a slightly discounted price. There were three of us and none of us could even eat 1/2 their main entrée. Good food, but I hate wasting food. Too full for desert."

We notified the restaurant about out anniversary (they ask when you make a reservation) and thought they would do something, but did not even mention our anniversary. If you are looking for a romantic place to eat, DON'T go to Scoma's. You will be disappointed. If you are looking for some great food, you will be impressed."

  • "I was sadly disappointed on my last visit. The food was good (not great) but the service was lacking. The waiter obviously forgot to put in our dinner order and we waited for a very long time before he realized that we still hadn't eaten and tables around us were leaving. He offered a bowl of soup while we waited but we'd already been waiting so long, we just wanted to get our dinner and get out. Even after we ate it was hard to find the waiter. It just wasn't as good as I remember."

  • " For an appetizer we chose OYSTER ROCKEFELLER ALLA SCOMA for $18 which is six tender oysters lightly breaded in a tasty sauce. I had the MIXED SEAFOOD GRILL which will consist of 3 types of fish and 3 shrimps with grilled veggies and garlicky mashed potatoes for$39. My friend had the LOBSTER RAVIOLI with Saffron Cream Sauce. The ravioli was tender and well seasoned and the filling had a nice texture to it. The saffron cream sauce was very tasty. The server was attentive and kept our water glasses full. From my review it seems like I should have given them five stars, each dish was very good but there just wasn't that memorable dish that deserves five stars"

The ambience is 4-star rather than 5 because the building feels small and can get quite crowded, especially near the door, so much so that it gets difficult to move around the restaurant. But many people will just enjoy that as part of the freshest-catch seafood experience. And the food and service have always been outstanding. Highly recommended."

  • "We ate at Scoma's on 7/3/14. I had the fried calamari and pork tenderloin. First, the calamari... it was delicious. Fried calamari is my husband's favorite food so we ordered it at every restaurant we could for our 5 day trip. We tried Barbara's Fishtrap, Mezzaluna Sam's Chowder House, Princeton Fish Company (all in Half Moon Bay), and the food stand at Fisherman's Wharf. Scoma's was the best I've ever tasted. The batter was golden, crispy melt in your mouth. I will remember it forever. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was downhill. The lobster bisque was unique, and good, but the pork tenderloin was dry. Waiter did not keep my husband's soda refulled. The view atmosphere was unique, we were on a pier on the water."
