A word from Scoma's Restaurant
Our Fisherman's Wharf seafood restaurant is steeped in a family tradition of quality and service. Still family owned and operated, Scoma’s opened in 1965, when brothers Al and Joe Scoma took over a six table coffee shop serving fishermen on the wharf. Using their mother’s recipe collection, the Scoma brothers' humble café evolved over the years becoming the quintessential San Francisco dining destination it is today.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Our second trip to San Francisco had to include another dinner at Scoma's. Outstanding service (Tim was delightful) and super-fresh seafood. We will dine there every time we visit!"

  • "Service by John B was prompt and personable. We had the Poor Man's Cioppino with a pink sauce and the New York; both were excellent! The entire dining experience was the best. That was definitely the "WOW" dining experience we were hoping for."

  • "It was a way over-cooked and got burned even we ordered medium. I couldn't believe the waiter brought it without hesitation."

  • "The food was so amazing! I will forever remember the Calamari Fritti and Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab. One of the 2 best seafood restaurants I have been to in my life in the entire US, (NYC the other)."

  • "I made reservation about 1 hour before we wanted to be there. I had asked for a table by the window but they only said they'd try. the table was not by the window but host said we could wait 20 minutes for one to open up. we declined. however one opened up just as we got seated, so we changed. The server never told us about the specials or said anything about the birthday I had mention. Also, the prices for the kids meals are wrong. My granddaughter is visiting us here from the Midwest and wanted to go there. Other than that I would not have gone. Way to much $$ for the service we got"

  • "We went there because of reviews and recommendation from a friend. Better than expected. Great service and knowledgable and professional waitstaff as expected at a good restaurant. The food matched the service. At Fisherman's Wharf, this is a "must go" restaurant."

  • "Spouse was dying for seafood and was satisfied. Keep up the same traditional dishes and service."

  • "My husband and my grandson have been going to Scoma's every year on my g'son's Bday for the past five years (since 21st Bday when introduced to lobster tail). They've always been happy with the meals and drinks. Now, reserv. were made and the evening at Scoma's and Warfield much anticipated. There were five in our group. Three of us had seafood, two had steaks. I was the only one who ordered lobster tail. The other four said they liked their meals. Unfortunately, my lobster was tough and flavorless (cooked too long). Since we had tickets to a show and the waiter did not come back by in a timely manner there was no time for a redo. It was a busy Fri. eve. Did that account for lobster problem? SO very disappointing to me."

  • "The service was slow, took a long time just to see a waitress; the wine was good and priced reasonable; the food was not great, in fact 2 of the 4 in our party sent theirs back and it was taken off our bill. It's a tourist haven on the water. Many better restaurant choices and the tables are bunched together"

  • "Excellent food, beverages, service and scenery. More than one friend told me that we most dine at Scoma's while visiting Sna Francisco. I would have to agree."

  • "Many people recommended Scoma's, and for good reason. The location is excellent - tucked away, down a well-marked alley, right on the water in Fisherman's Wharf, and the seafood is top-notch. The only problem was deciding what to have! To start, my husband had the ahi tuna. It was cooked a bit more than he would have liked, but was very tasty. I had the Dungeness crab cocktail - fresh and yummy. Next, he had the catch of the day - sea scallops with mashed potato and spinach. They were fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. I had the pasta diplomatica - linguini with an abundance of clams, shrimp, scallops and lobster. Absolutely delicious. We topped it off with a perfect crème caramel. Would recommend Scoma's for a lovely seafood dinner!"

  • "Fresh and delicious. Worth the price. This place deserves it's reputation of the best seafood on the wharf. Sal was our waiter and he was great."

  • "Scoma's is our favorite restaurant in San Francisco. We love the service, view, atmosphere and of course the food."

  • "First off, thanks Open Table for allowing a last minute reservation by which we jumped an hour-long line. That said, the place was just short of chaos with all the people waiting, talking over the din, and generally milling around. Scoma's rates no stars for ambience. Our server [I do not name names when criticizing] saw the boy and virtually wrote us off as a table to reckon with. He clearly was on the clock and if we weren't ready RIGHT NOW, he disappeared in plain sight to help turnover other tables. Food quality: Pedestrian. Clams = MEH! Mushy petrale, weak halibut ... and so on."

  • "There are a boatload of restaurants at Fisherman's Wharf and after looking at dozens of online sites with customer reviews I chose SCOMA's for a seafood dinner. I love Clam Chowder so I usually order it whenever I am eating at a seafood restaurant the first time. Scoma's clam chowder rates a 10 out of 10 in my book. For an entrée I selected the whole Dungeness Crab roasted in olive oil, garlic and lemon juice. Very messy and very tasty. The crab was large and the butter and garlic sauce really enhanced the flavor of the crabmeat. I will definitely be returning to Scoma's on my next trip to San Francisco."

  • "Excellent food (cioppino and scallops) with a great, attentive wait staff. The only detractor was a somewhat dark atmosphere."

  • "This is my 3rd visit to Scoma's in the last seven years. From "beef country," it is always a joy to visit San Fran and see what is going on with the seafood scene. Scoma's is traditional but incredibly good...why change something that is good, will always be good in a friendly, somewhat noisy environment. My wife had the halibut and I had the shrimp risotto along with a couple of mix green salads. We made reservations on Open Table but arrived about 45 min early. We sat in the bar area and partook in a side of scallops and Prosecco for my wife and a glass of Brancott sauvignon blanc for me. Simply fabulous! Then, promptly sat down at our table (requested window and got it) and had another memorable evening. Won't be disappointed!"

  • "I found this restaurant on the internet. It was a top ten. I was not disappointed. Excellent food for gourmet foodies."

  • "Scoma's always has a great variety of foods on their menu. I always go for the seafood as it is usually so fresh. I was a tad disappointed this time as my entree was not hot upon arrival, although the ahi was quite tasty. The lobster bisque was also quite good. Everyone else was very happy with their entree choices. Two of our group had just had birthdays, and out waiter brought out one chocolate and one plain slice of cheesecake with candles for dessert as a surprise which was quite nice. It was also a nice change to be told to take our time, stay as long as we liked, even after paying the bill."

  • "This was a repeat visit to Scoma's fine dining restaurant on the Wharf in San Francisco. I found Scoma's by accident about 20 years ago and make it about to go back every time I am anywhere near San Francisco. I am never disappointed. The Wait Staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and the food is always wonderful. In addition to their normal dinner menu they feature specials, at least on weekends, which I have found to be very special. I highly recommend Scoma's - much better than the competition. The locals go to Scoma's so that says something about the quality as well."

  • "Ambience not as upscale as Sausalito. My lobster Newberg tasted great but was not an attractively presented dish. Looked sloppy. My wife did not enjoy the risotto. Flavors didn't work .My friend's clamp and linguini tastedbland."

  • "I have not been to this landmark for several years. It is beautifully situated, still in good condition. but the food was indifferent. We shared a calamari- which was excellent. Entrees were huge but overcooked - a disaster for fish- my halibut was dry and chewy."

  • "Went back to SF for a great dinner at Scoma's. Beat seafood at the wharf by far! Never fail with fresh seafood, great service, and tasty drinks. Everyone in the party loved their meals, including the non-seafood lover, who said her fillet was melt-in-her-mouth good. The calimari is tender and you cannot beat Scoma's sauté!"

  • "The seafood at Scomas is to die for. I had an alfredo pasta with different types of seafood. It had scallops, shrimp, lobster and crab. It melted in my mouth."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "Scomas never disappoints, from the service, the food, and the great location near fisherman's wharf, but secluded down a little alleyway away from the hustle bustle of the wharf.....a look out the window while dining reveals an armada of fishing boats ready for their early morning run.....Coit tower and the city loom in the distance....of. Ourselves, the food is the thing here...crab cakes were crunchy and mouth watering.....salmon cooked translucent, just the way we like it...the sour dough bread better than incredible....we've been here a zillion times and will be back a zillion more...."

  • "Scoma's was (and is) a great choice for seafood. I live in the Bay area and enjoyed bringing 3 out of town guests to "the wharf" for seafood. I had a res for 6:00.....was seated within 20 minutes......great table with view of Mt. Tam.......Bruce our waiter was especially knowledgeable of the choices on the menu......and other items not on the menu......for example......I really like petrale sole dore. it was not on the menu but was offered by my asking.......food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering and was cooked to perfection......4 different people with 4 different menu items and all was delicious. There is little wonder why people wait outside to go inside and dine as this is the best restaurant on the wharf."

  • "It's been a number of years since I have been to Scoma's but it is still fabulous. The food was fabulous, service great and atmosphere perfect for a seafood restaurant right on the bay. We had lunch and although the menu looked really pricey initially, the prix fixe lunch was very reasonable - $24.95 for a first course, entree and delicious dessert. Can't wait to come to the city again soon and have lunch or dinner at Scoma's."
