Scarpetta - TorontoGreat food....big pricesScarpetta is the Scott Conant resto that has locations in places like NYC and Miami and has been open for a couple of years in Toronto. Very tasty food at very high prices may have led to the half empty room on a Friday night. Too bad because the food is great. The salami bread is to die for. This place should be hopping and it is not. I don't know how much longer they will survive.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappoints.Four of us dined together. Among us we had the beet salad, artichoke soup, scallops, fritto misto, black cod and orata. Everything was perfectly prepared and well portioned. Presentation of the fritto misto was a bit awkward--piled high on a very small plate, but good nevertheless! Desserts were amazing--we enjoyed the lemon mousse, rhubarb cheesecake, and gelato. All were beautifully presented, delicious and not overwhelming in size or sweetness.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic and naughtyOur server was wonderful! The restaurant and lounge had a wonderful ambiance and the staff extremely friendly. Although the food is on the pricey side, it is a great place to come and have a good time out with your special someone.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing evening!I took my mom here for her 60th birthday, she had what was described as the best meal of her life, period.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian DelightAs vegetarians we often find that the more upscale a restaurant is the less likely there are vegetarian options. Not only does Scarpetta have a few options slipped into their regular menu, but they have a separate page of vegetarian options that offer a number of starters as well as a selection of entrees - and all very creative (not a veggie lasagna to be seen). And when we asked about a vegetarian dish, the server realized we were vegetarian and immediately slipped the bread basket off the table as one of the lovely bread selections included meat in the stuffing - which he had explained upon delivering the bread basket so we were fully aware. And the service was impeccable - very friendly, prompt, and not intrusive. Well done, Scarpetta!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Vegetarians! We are big Scott Conant fans, and we've been wanting to get to a Scarpetta for a while. Service was stellar the whole time- never left hanging. The Wine Menu was very extensive, while we didn't partake during our Mains, we did during desert. Overall the food is excellent! My wife is Vegetarian, and the separate Veg menu is a very welcome sight! For our app we shared the Fried Veggies- very good. For our Mains- she had the Rosemary Braised Lentils, and I had the Whole Wheat Tagliatelle (from the Non-Veg side). Both were excellent! The cooking of the lentils and pasta was perfect. For desert- we shared the Amedei Chocolate Cake with Orange Caramel Gelato, and a glass of local Ice Wine (hard to find in our travels). We'd definitely go back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDeeee-lish!Scarpetta is amazing! Every dish that we had was delicious. I especially enjoyed the SEARED SCALLOPS (celery root & lentil-pancetta vinaigrette) and the WHOLE WHEAT TAGLIATELLE (wild boar ragu & whipped ricotta). My husband loved the CREAMY POLENTA (fricassee of truffled mushrooms) and the CAVATELLI (sausage, porcini & taggiasca olives). The service was top notch as well. We cannot wait to go back the next time that we're in Toronto!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
