ScarpettaOmgWe choose the tasting menu and were definitely not disappointed, The service was like watching an orchestra in motion. Very well trained staff and knowledgeable about their menu and wines. Don't miss the spaghetti as it is amazing!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!Took my mom here with Dad and brother for Mother's Day and it was superb. Every dish was inventive, delicate and balanced. The appetizers were amazing--the pastas were divine! Entrees were great and service was fantastic. The wine list is very comprehensive and they have a number of choices at $50/60/75 for the less well heeled. Overall, it was a great and memorable meal - Scarpetta is not to be missed!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is so fabulous! Had aFood is so fabulous! Had a wonderful waiter who recommended great dishes to try. Food and service are excellent at this restaurant. Very extensive wine list with a helpful staff to help you choose.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but.....While looking for a restaurant online, Scarpetta's tasting menu caught my eye, only to find while ordering dinner that it is available only Sunday thru Thursday. That was NOT mentioned on their website. Even with this disappointment, dinner was fine. Our first course (the frito mistro and short rib) were very good, and the pasta second course (short rib again) that we shared was excellent, as was dessert. The third course was weak however. I had the black cod and my wife the red snapper. I would recommend Scarpetta, and would consider dinning there again, but I would stay away from the two disappointing fish dishes. I also hope the restaurant updates the website and mentions when the tasting menu is available.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a word, OUTSTANDING!!!!!In a word, OUTSTANDING!!!!! There is no description I can give that would do this place justice. Eat here and you'll know exactly what I mean.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAt Scarpetta, the Food is the StarMy guest an I had previously dined at Scarpetta in Las Vegas, where we had one of our most memorable meals of our lives. We decided to visit the original location while in New York to experience the joy all over again.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very courteous hostess who offered to check our shopping bags from our spree at the nearby Chelsea Market. We were seated in a nice corner table, and were greeted by the serving staff almost immediately.
We chose a special four-course "prix fixe" menu to celebrate the restaurant's 5th anniversary, which include a wine pairing with each course. Our selections were fantastic, and would highly recommend the Polenta with Truffled Mushroom Fricasee, and the Moist-Roasted Capretto.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for my boyfriend's birthdayWent for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. The service and ambience were excellent, our food was very good and the server was especially helpful when I told him I was vegetarian. My entree (roasted mushrooms with crispy potatoes) was oversalted but the rest of the dinner made up for it (especially the polenta, don't miss it!). Wine list prices are outrageous, but other than that everything is relatively affordable for a special night out.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMCdnTravellerMy daughter and I went on our recent holiday in New York. Excellent. I had to have the spaghetti as this is what Scott Conant is known for and it did not disappoint. It was great and we would definately go back. tp5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Shelf in Every Way!We have eaten all over and the meal at Scarpetta was amongst the best we have ever enjoyed. Food, wine and service all spectacular. Can't wait to go back!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!Everything here was amazing. Cannot say enough good things. The polenta was to die for and the spaghetti was just incredible. Well worth the spendy price tag!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMscarpettaOne of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life. I had the tasting menu with the different wines. Every morsel that I put in my mouth was sublime.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur trip to NYC was toppedOur trip to NYC was topped off with a dinner at Scartetta’s. The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. The tables were close but that is often the case in NYC. This is a must stop when you are in the area.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceWe were 30 minutes late for our reservations due to traffic and staff was super accommodating. Yellowtail appetizer was delicious and my husband loved his octopus app. Drinks were fun and staff very attentive. Lobster pasta dish also really good. Can't wait to go back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful experience all around..Enjoyed a delightful dinner this past Saturday evening. We ordered a drink at the bar, and before we had a chance to have our first sip, our table was ready, and we were seated. Every morsel of every dish, including the selection of breads, was outstanding! Our server, was attentive, informative, but never intrusive. The wines were wonderful, and the pairings suggested were spot on. Will definitely be returning on our next visit.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMJust wonderfulThe service was impeccable. We started with the beet salad with a horseradish creame fraiche- which was wonderful, and the scallops, which were perfection. We followed with the duck & foi gras ravioli which was nothing short of amazing, and the short rib agnolotti which was also spectacular. Suggested wines paired perfectly too.
Just a wonderful experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Birthday Celebration SpotMy boyfriend and I have a birthday tradition of taking the other one out for a special dinner in lieu of a traditional present. Scarpetta was an amazing find. We shared the yellowtail and short rib risotto appetizers for our first course-both were great. Second we shared the spaghetti. The beauty of the menu design is that it welcomes you to share a pasta dish, and still have room for a main course. The pasta was good enough to have on its own, but I definitely recommend sharing and choosing an entree as well. You can't go wrong with fresh made pasta. The birthday was a total success & we definitely plan on coming back and trying some of the other menu items.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection, again. Our server, Juan Luis, made us feel welcome and served us with charm and grace. The food was outstanding: black farfalle with tender lobster was heavenly, the red snapper and branzino were cooked and seasoned to perfection, the chocolate cake with salted caramel gelato and the panna cotta were divine. Wines are pricey but there is an interesting selection. Couldn't have had a better dining experience. Will return, no doubt!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great experienceI live nearby and kept meaning to come to scarpetta but just hadnt gotten round to it. I had high expectations from everything I had heard over the years and they were certainly, delightfully, all met. My friends and I shared tuna appetizer and spaghetti with tomato basil for an appetizer. The spaghetti was outstanding and lived up to the hype. I had the goat main course which was delish as well. I definitely recommend scarpetta for anyone who likes good food and good service. I will be going back soon!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExpectationsMet and Exceeded!
Dinning room was filled with lots of natural light from wooden ceiling beams and giant glass panels. The waiter came promptly, gave some great recommendations on the food. Long story short: everything was delicious!
The (recommended) polenta with roasted mushrooms had deep earthy flavors, and the polenta was the creamiest we'd ever tasted. A staple since day one, we could see why. The spaghetti with tomato-basil (called best in the city) was tender and fully deserved of its praise. The prosciutto wrapped pork chop was superb! Service was attentive, without feeling rushed.
Coming from Chicago, we're no strangers to great food & service.
Scarpetta belongs were it is: among the top tier in fine dining.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI had passed by here a fewI had passed by here a few times but never tried it until I took someone out for their birthday. The wine list is extensive...and to be honest a little overwhelming. A glass of Sauvignon will probably run you about $15-$20. The food was absolutely delicious but some of the appetizers were a bit small for the price. If you have a drink, wine with dinner, 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, and two desserts, the meal will probably run you about $200 for two. The ambiance is fantastic (there is a glass roof in the back dining room), the service was outstanding (I mean, really great- attentive, plenty of suggestions for pairings, timing was perfect), the chocolate cake is to die for, and I would highly recommend the octopus appetizer.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to be missed in ManhattanWhile I am far from a food critic, I like to think that I have above-average experience when it comes to food and wine. Scarpetta came as a recommendation from a good friend, who also happens to be a chef in Pittsburgh. He was determined to get me to try this place...I have to say I am beyond thankful for his persistant badgering......this was one of the very best culinary exeriences I have ever had. We enjoyed the tasting menu with wine flight and added in some additional foie gras ravioli (to die for btw). The braised duck w/ fava been reduction and trumpet mushrooms was an explosion of flavor like I would have never imagined. The octopus and short ribs mouth-watering. The wine was exquisite and the staff outstanding! A+4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third visit toThis was my third visit to Scarpetta. Their pastas are supurb. Everything else has been very good, but, except for a crudo dish on my first visit, no more special than many other restaurants in the city. Service and wines were very good as well. I do think, overall, it's a bit overpriced for the quality. If you check the web site, "Chef Scott", as everyone calls him, may be spreading himself too thin. I'll go back, but just order antipasti and pasta.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experience. The foodAwesome experience. The food is unbelievable. Such a great time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWaiter Issue.I have dined at Scarpetta several times. One of the obvious strengths is their customer service and their attention to detail and doing whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Everything revolves around customer satisfaction. On Saturday night.. our waiter must have been new. He clearly didn't understand how important THAT is to the Scarpetta image. He was borderline rude, not overly accomodating and almost gave us a problem when the bill came and we paid by American Express gift cards. His comment after rolling his eyes was "well these don't go through all the time. I'll have to see if they work".. He needs to return to "waiter training" school until he gets the "Scarpetta way".4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were both exceptional. We enjoyed our night there.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went late on a Friday nightWe went late on a Friday night and were seated in the main room in the back. It's incredibly dark in there, to the point were you can't see your food, which takes away from enjoying the food, so I deducted a star. That said, the food is excellent and so is the service. There's a vegetarian menu and we ordered roasted califlower which was very good. We also ordered the infamous spaghetti (very good but too much basil) and the ravioli (delicious). Music is at a normal level and tables are an appropriate distance from each other.Overall the ambiance just isn't for me, it's just so dark we might as well have been eating in a basement somewhere.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is amazing-obviouslyThe food is amazing-obviously the spaghetti is a MUST when you go. The only down side I have when going to this restaurant is that I always have a wait when I arrive for my table, no matter if I am early, on time, or a few minutes late-so have to wait at the bar for a while. Otherwise, the food never disappoints, so the wait seems to disappear as soon as we sit down.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur meal was fantastic andOur meal was fantastic and our service was top notch. The banana bread dessert may not sound exciting by description but is one of the best desserts ever. But, really it is hard to pick the best part. Everything was great.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBaltimore comparisonWe we told about Scarpetta by a friend. There is no restaurant in Baltimore with food as good as the dishes we had at Scarpetta. We will be back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSeated right away with reservationsSeated right away with reservations. Amazing food...got the creamy polenta with mushrooms and braised short ribs with risotto as appetizers and the tomato basil spaghetti and duck fois
Grais...I'm Italian and very picky about pasta-the sauce was amazing and the duck
Raviolis were to die for!! Amazing wine list..tables a little small and close together but food made it worth it!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMabsolutely wonderful experience.absolutely wonderful experience. So often restaurants owned/run by famous chefs are a disappointment, but not this one. The restaurant has a grown-up,warm vibe, despite being in the trendy meatpacking district. My cocktail, a mezcal take on a margarita, was the perfect way to start the evening. The service was incredibly professional and impressive, from the busboys to our waiter.
And the food was an absolute treat. The signature pasta with tomato sauce and basil was as good as I've read, but it was the pasta with sweetbreads, jalapeno and zucchini that really blew me away.
Can't wait to return and sample more from the menu.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food! The vegetarianFantastic food! The vegetarian menu was wonderful.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great. Waiter wasFood was great. Waiter was knowledgable and attentive. Hostess was pretentious and rude. Overall a great experience once seated.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI am always nervous bookingI am always nervous booking a restaurant over the internet....but Scarpetta was fabulous. All of the staff were very attentive and since we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, the extra attention made her day. Many thanks to everyone.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMno salad on a saturday?Service was great!, actually better than great! The issue that we had was they were out of the beet salad on a saturday night and there was no other non-carb option for the appetizer. They need to have some "emergency" mixed spring mix in the kitchen in case this happens again. Italians want to have greens with there meal.. Please put something of this sort on the menu. Polenta was amazing!!!! There should be some options for sides.. Las vegas does this. Lastly, the bread was limited. At the Las Vegas location, there are soo many different kinds of breads that are brought to your table.. What happened here??4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived early and had drinksWe arrived early and had drinks at the bar. At 5:30, we were immediately seated. We started with the Polenta with truffled mushrooms, which was delicious. Loved the bread basket. Main course, we shared the duck breast and spaghetti. Disappointed in the pasta, undercooked. Overall, good experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMbest restaurant in NYC! asbest restaurant in NYC! as always appreciate the quiet seating.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome meal!We had a awesome meal at Scarpetta last night. Our favorites were the appetizers, my creamy polenta with mushrooms was to die for, and my daughters scallops were amazing! The wine list is quite overwhelming and expensive, but the sommelier helped us pick a wonderful bottle in our price range. I would definitely go back!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI found the menu to be a bitI found the menu to be a bit limited, but the food was amazing! Service was good but waiter was not that attentive. In general, a great meal. Will consider coming back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat staff! The waiters are very enthusiastic about the food here. They know the menu and are ready to provide recommendations! The waitstaff was very knowledgable about the dishes and wines and were able to answer all of our questions. We ordered the braised beef, spaghetti, and duck and foie gras ravioli. It was all delicious! Definitely worth coming back to for a special occasion or to bring friends to who are visiting the city.
PS. Get plenty of the bread with cheese and prosciutto baked in!.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional yet ComfortableWonderful food, elegant yet understated. You feel comfortable eating very nice food. Service was excellent with engaging and knowledgeable waiter who, since it was our first visit, asked us about our tastes and favorites and then helped guide us to some great selections. We are big fans of conant for Chopped and made it a point to eat at Scarpetta to see if he lived up to his billing. Most certainly did. We shared several courses (wife and I - I did get the higher proportion). Appetizer of polenta was super. Went with tried and true spaghetti for pasta (true judge of good dish when a staple is the best of), then the pork dinner plate.
We were there early (6p) so one of the first in. Started out very quiet but quickly filled.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great. Service veryFood was great. The meals came out at a nice rate and each course was hot and amazingly fresh tasting. The fresh, handmade pasta was cooked to perfection and the duck and the fish of my guests got great reviews. Don't skip dessert! It was the best part of the meal, and it was absolutely heavenly. Everyone at Scarpetta was very accommodating and our server was able to make suggestions to best fit the dining specifications of one of our members. It was great for a special occasion dinner in New York and if you love Italian food, you should definitely consider this as a dining option.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding! lightingFood was outstanding! lighting was a bit dark and noise level a tad too high.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly complaint was serviceOnly complaint was service was too efficient.
