Diner Reviews
  • "After an amazing meal at Scarpetta, Fontainebleau South Beach, I was a bit disappointed by Bev Hills. Maybe the deft hand of Nina Compton was the difference? Two of us and a third at a neighboring table sent back our fatty, over salted veal chops. In the restaurant's defense, the response was quick and soon we had replacements that were fantastic: short ribs for me & salmon for my friend. But even then, service wasn't as attentive as I'd expect. Despite being equally busy, South Beach was always one step ahead. Here, service was friendly and professional, but always a half a step behind. I had to get up and ask for a wine list, as well as gesticulate twice to signal for a waiter. Huge upside: desserts were amazing across the board!"

  • "Quite over priced, lots of truffle oil, and rich creamy sauces. If twenty five dollars for a virtually invisible portion of spaghetti sounds good to you, you'll love this place."

  • "Food and service are outstanding. Best spaghetti we ever had, pasta perfectly prepared, flavors light and delicious. Vanilla caramel budino was an amazing salty sweet combo. Also recommend the burrata and the polenta with fricassee of truffled mushrooms. Our server, David, was gracious and attentive, and had excellent menu suggestions. Warm friendly sommelier helped select a beautiful bottle of wine with careful attention to our tastes and budget, and also highlighted some favorite food choices. Energetic atmosphere with fairly loud music, so just know this is not the place for a quiet dinner. Overall fantastic dining experience with a kitchen and staff who really care about guests. We will definitely return."

  • "Aesthetically pleasing, french doors the are open to an outside garden which is very romantic and beautiful. The service was very good and the food overall was good. You really need to be an Italian food connoisseur to appreciate Scarpetta, which i'm not... The spaghetti was presented with just a little sauce that adhered perfectly to the noodle, but was pretty plain and not very flavorful. The polenta on the other hand, was the best I've ever had. I would definitely visit again."

  • "A beautiful room, way too bad that the food does not live up to the venue! Have eaten many times at Scarpetta in New York, and always enjoyed our meals. I have no idea why it does not ttranslate to Beverly Hills. We and our Cal guests have tried to eat here more than once and it has always been a huge disappointment! Lively evening bar scene"

  • "Food and service is outstanding; ambiance on patio, looking into the "park" between the buildings is very nice. We enjoy this restaurant very much."

  • "We went here for our 15th Anniversary and were not disappointed. The entire experience, from the service, to the wine and food were all exceptional. This is truly high end Italian food and although pricey, was worth every penny. Just my veal chop alone was worth going back for. I've never had anything like it. And all the other food from the steak tartare with black truffles to the seared scallops and saffron papardelle with duck ragu were all fantastic."

  • "The food is wonderful and the service is consistently the best around. I think this is the best place for a special occasion."

  • "First time dining here and we loved it! Great service and great food!!!! But be careful of filling up on the best bread basket and eggplant dip in Beverly Hills. Everything was absolutely delicious. It was a Saturday night and we could still hear each other --- and it was fairly full. Only slightly disappointed with the much touted famous spaghetti --- delicious but too spicy for me. No one mentioned it was spicy. Still, loved everything and will return --- sooner than later!"

  • "Great place in a nice hotel. Our waiter was very nice and passionate about the menu and food. The manager came out and spoke with us as well. The service was great. The ambiance is very nice and classy and is a great place for a date. The food was delicious...best bread basket ever and the pasta was very good. Overall, a gear dining experience."

  • "I had a reservation was for 8:30 p.m. My party did not get seated until 9:20/25 p.m. If that wasn't bad enough, once we were done with our first plates (aka appetizers) it took well over 30 mins to get our pastas and main courses. Maybe I was spoiled from my prior visits to Scarpetta, but I was disappointed in the customer service this time around."

  • "The Raviolo was an amazing dish. It was filled with crab and generously topped with lobster. The sauce was a lobster and euni blend completed in a creamy reduction. I would highly recommend it. The spaghetti was al dente and beautifully presented in the shape of a pasta nest. The sauce had a special bite, subtle but extraordinary. The server was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. The desserts were expertly prepared and had excellent presentation. The manager checked on our table and was charming and truly interested in how pleased we were with the meal and service. The atmosphere was very pleasant with celebrities dining near us. Fine dinning in Beverly Hills is alive and well. The stroll from garden nice too."

  • "I don't get impressed often, but the dining experience was great. Not too many places with rush over to fold your napkin when you get up to use the facilities... lol. No, kidding aside it's a fun place to visit and was sitting right next to Bruce Willis. Most importantly, the food should be the centerpiece and it was."

  • "While our dinner was exceptional, there was something very peculiar about our bill and I felt manipulated. We had brought our own wine and enjoyed a glass at the bar, where we paid corkage. But, our waitress took it upon herself to charge us for corkage again. The thing is, she did not open the bottle, we walked our glasses and bottle of wine upstairs to our table - very suspect and unprofessional. Additionally, we were charged for two cocktails that we did not order. We paid the bill before reviewing the itemized bill, but I reviewed it after I did the math. The process was entirely inappropriate."

  • "While the bread basket was extraordinary the meals themselves were not, Small portions, under seasoned, over priced. Two of us each had an appetizer and entree, returned home and made a peanut butter sandwich. Dined on patio, setting was beautul"

  • "This place was amazing they treated me and my girlfriend like royalty very attentive and very polite we ordered our good and it came fast and fresh everything was great and not as expensive as my peers made it seem so for a romantic date it's perfect because it's classy, fancy, and high class. Only problem was that it was way louder than we expected and the music selection was a bit off I hope this isn't a usual occur acne as we will return for out anniversary! Over all a 9/10 just because of the noise."

  • "Good food but price point is higher because of the zip code. The spaghetti was not da bomb."

  • "They did not have my table ready and told me I'd have a 30 min+ wait. They were way overbooked and did not look like they had a table until an hour after reservation time. Their attempt to seat me outside in the frigid and windy January cold was almost unforgivable. We tried sitting outside but they sat us next to a broken heat lamp and we lasted for about 5 minutes. We ended up crashing someone's bar cubby. Based on the food quality, I forgive them of their poor operational planning and reservations system."

  • "I've been wanting to try Scarpetta for quite some time. Dine LA provided the perfect opportunity for me to indulge. I was not disappointed! The creamy polenta, spaghetti and vanilla caramel budino were my favorites."

  • "I have always love the ambience of this restaurant. Perhaps not the best Italian food in Los Angeles, but certainly good."

  • "We ate here during DineLA week. Save for the budino, the rest of the meal was average. The polenta was good but I am not a polenta fan. The veal brassato was not tasty, nor the scallops. Wished we picked a different restaurant for our meal in LA. Our waiter was pretentious and waited a few seconds too long after asking us how dinner was, as if he was surprised with our response (which we said the dinner was "okay")"

  • "Although we had the option of choosing from their regular menu, dining here during DineL.A. week was one of the best choices we made. They placed a very nice selection of some of their signature dishes onto the special menu for DineL.A. week, and a 3-course tasting menu was only $45.00...... a steal of a deal. If you wanted to add their famed spaghetti, and one really should (!!), it was an additional $12.00...... but worth every bite. Everything we tried was amazing, the flavors, textures, food items. Service was impeccable; we wanted for nothing. A great place to dine."

  • "Visited on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. In arrival, when they freak used we were. I siting from overseas, they took special attention to find us a nice table. Sommelier was very attentive and wait staff, although not as many as I would have expected for the size of the establishment, were responsive but not quick. Food w as great without trying to be extravagant with a varied selection. Very good wine list with options from super Tuscans and great barolos to some reasonably priced but nice bottles."

  • "A few of my girlfriends and I visited Scarpetta last night for DineLA. We were not disappointed! Our meal began with their assortment of bread including a baked Stromboli with salami and cheese. Excellent! On to dinner - One of us picked an appetizer, entree, and dessert from the DineLA menu. The rest of us ordered an appetizer to share and their famous Spaghetti. Hands down the BEST! The definition of Al Dente! We had the opportunity to speak with the manager as he was checking in with each and every table. Customer Service at its best. I highly recommend this venue for a romantic dinner outside. They also offer large tables for a group setting. Really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Delicious meal! The bread basket alone was worth the dining experience, but, as soon as the appetizer (beef short ribs) and main courses (spaghetti and tagliatelle) came, we knew we were in the company of an amazing chef. The dessert (budino) capped the night - we've never tasted anything to rich, yet so amazing. A definite must-go!"

  • "A number of "secondary" servers stopped by our table and poured my sparkling water into my wife's "still" water glass. We had to ask for the bread basket and the service just felt disjointed and moved in fits and spurts. The food was excellent and the venue is quite nice."

  • "I think given the location, the price, and the aesthetic appeal, we were all expecting a little better. There are better options nearby."

  • "Highlights-- Breadbasket: Never have we tasted such divine focaccia! Brussel sprouts: Pancetta, brussel sprouts, and dates created a good balance of sweet and salty. Black farfalle & spaghetti: The noodles were a total hit. Spanish octopus: The octopus was tender and charred beautifully. Polenta: I expected the polenta to be the usual starchy, rich, heavy kind that I tried at other restaurants, but this was different. I can't quite elucidate everything through words! You just need to experience it yourself. Skip the... Braised Shortribs & Bone Marrow Agnolotti. Honestly, I am glad that we chose Scarpetta over Osteria Mozza."

  • "I went to Scarpetta with my boyfriend to celebrate our one year anniversary. Everything so so lovely and classy. We did the chef's choice menu, which was absolutely heavenly. The polenta is by far the best thing I've ever eaten. We got two glasses of Prosecco right off the bat which was super nice. My one complaint was we had to wait for our table even though we had reservations, but I understand that can be difficult to plan out perfectly. Everything else was perfect. We will definitely be going back!"

  • "We are 1 for 4 in having a perfect experience at Scarpetta. The food is always excellent and the service is remarkably terrible! We sat at our table for over 20 minutes w/out any acknowledgement from the wait staff. It seems to be the norm (our record was an astonishing 40 minutes before we finally called a manager over). Once again we had to flag management to get the ball rolling. The 2nd star on our service rating was for the mgr's concern and sincere effort in trying to make things right. The first star was only because the opentable app won't allow us to submit without marking any stars. Recommendation: announce your arrival to management immediately after being seated or phone in your order and ask it to be delivered to your table."

  • "Waiter was absent----as in mind, body, and spirit. Loud and not a particularly attractive decor. David Spade in the front booth posing, posing, posing. Wine list excellent but overpriced however wine steward was attentive and knowledgable. Food definitely average, Culina is a notch above and has a better priced wine list."
