  • "Our first visit to Scarletti's. Service was good and we loved the food. Great bruchetta. Penne with braised ribs was enjoyed by 3 of the 5 of us. Chicken vesuvio was also great."

  • "I'm a vegetarian, so I was sure I'd be able to get eggplant parmasan at a nice neighborhood Italian eatery. Alas, not on the menu. Nevertheless, what they do have for Veg-heads like me was very good (mostaccioli and an elegant specialty salad). I can unequivocally recommend Scarletti's, especially if you're not vegetarian."

  • "At first I thought it wasn't going to be all that great when we came in the girl said we are a little behind might be a while and we had a reservation, but she sat us at the bar and it was nice .I heard another woman complaining but it wasn't bad at all.we were sat at a nice table and the waiter was great. food was really good. I had the salmon and I loved it/will go back again."

  • "So nice to be able to dine at a small friendly neighborhood restaurant. Service was excellent from the moment I walked in the door, to the bartender, to the waitstaff. Food was good. We look forward to returning soon."

  • "We always enjoy our meal here. It's great food and the price is reasonable. Service has always been wonderful - very friendly staff. We will go back -- for sure."

  • "It was my birthday so my husband and I wanted to try something new. The service and staff were friendly and personable. They gave me a complementary dessert which was nice gesture. I would recommend this place to anyone. The food was great and reasonably priced."

  • "If you are a pizza snob, you will live this place. The pizza is delicious--such fresh, tasty ingredients."

  • "We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good and there were choices for everyone. I am kind of picky, so the make your own pasta was perfect for me. I picked my pasta, the sauce and veggies (there are meat options too). My mom and daughter loved the baked mostacholli, but they both got it without the ricotta cheese since neither one are big fans. The change was no problem and both really enjoyed it. My husband and dad had no problem chowing down a very large pizza. Everyone left satisfied. Since it was my mom's birthday, we had a cake waiting at home. Otherwise, we probably would have tried a dessert. There were many options that sounded delicious. We will try on of those next time!"

  • "On a snowing night, we had a very wonderful Italian dinning experience. It's was full but we good our table right away. Our starter was Italian Sausage with Sauteed Peppers and Onions and it was great. Nice start. My entrees was Roasted Salmon on bed of spinach with rosemary, tomatoes and lemon was wonderful and done just right. Wine was a special off the list and great Italian."

  • "Love the variety of food; perfect for getting off the commuter train and having a great meal; salmon was cooked to perfection; chicken piccata was excellent - just the right amount of blend in the sauce; and the BEST Caesar Salad in town!!! It's a MUST on our list."

  • "We have found ourselves coming here more and more often as our go-to place when we have friends or family in town or just want a really good dinner ourselves. We have tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The pace of the service is perfect for a relaxed evening out but, since everything is made fresh, it is not fast. Their menu specials ARE special and worth trying, both entrees and desserts."

  • "Not going back. Service is slow at best . Male waiter is good but was bartending the night we went. The manager is not warm and fuzzy & does not recognize when to step in & help her staff. My friend sent back 2 dirty wine glasses. Food was just ok. Event was going on there so it was overloaded. Not the restaurant's fault but it was their fault that they were understaffed. When they are not overloaded the waitress is still slow. There are too many other restaurants with friendly managers & staff. We will not go back. We have given them too many chances."

  • "This was our first time at Scarletti's and what a great find! The wine list is good, the food is wonderful! Fresh, filling, and delicious. The service was great and the personal touch was greatly appreciated. The only concern could be finding parking..."

  • "This weekend I tried Scarletti's for the first time with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. The food was delicious and our service was great. They had live entertainment but it wasn't too loud at all, just the right volume. We'll definitely be going back!"

  • "This is a sincere restaurant Intent on providing you a memorable and enjoyable food and service experience. It has become our favorite special occasion place to eat and drink. I especially like the sauces and the pasta fagioli. My wife, a great cook in her own kitchen, finds their food outstanding. I would be proud to take any friend to this restaurant for any occasion. There are not many that I would say that about. It is nice to know your service is also good. It is the second time I used it."

  • "Our family enjoys Scarletti's for a reliable meal when we run out of time to cook. The butternut squash ravioli was good - as was the pizza."

  • "Had an early Saturday night (6:45 pm) reservation. Not overly crowded at that time. Great food ... service was good, just a tiny bit slow. Food was awesome but just a touch heavy on the olive oil sauces on the entree. When we return, and we will, we will just ask for a lighter touch on the sauce! Overall a great experience!"

  • "It's great that there are still such wonderful independent fine restaurants in Downers Grove. The couple that owns the place is there, working hard to make their place a success. This is the second time that my wife and I have had a Saturday night dinner at Scarletti's. I had the filet of beef (aka filet mignon). This was a special of the night that included green beans with mushrooms and scalloped potatos. Our table of four split a bottle of cabernet. It was a great night out and we will be back again. Although it would be a stretch to say Scarletti's is twice the value for half the price, you won't feel like you paid too much for a great meal and wine like at some of the chain restaurants in town."

  • "Can't miss with any item on the menu. Great pasta dishes, pizza, and listen carefully for the nightly specials, they are just wonderful..it's our place to go when we want a good, satisfying dinner that doesn't break the bank. If you can choose, Tuesday is $10 pasta day, and my favorite, Thursday, you get 1/2 off a glass or bottle of wine."

  • "Even though it was only lunch, the entrees were very small. The spinach pesto was a bit boring. Our server didn't offer fresh Parmesan, or other things expected at almost any restaurant other than Denny's, tgi Fridays, or Chilis. My companions agreed, not much flavor in the food, except for salt in the bread served as appetizer. Just so-so food, but worth one more try---I hate to give up, could've been a bad day."

  • "The food was good but they were a little slow seating us (we had a 7:30 reservation and got seated at 8:00 on New Year's Eve). The service was a little slow too but they were really busy. Overall, it was a good evening."

  • "This was my first time dinning at Scarletti's. We had dinner before going to the movies. I had minestrone soup and chicken farfalle. Delicious! I would definitely go again. Our server new we were going to the movies and were on a tight time schedule. He kept things moving for us."

  • "I dine at this restaurant quite a bit and it is never a disappointment. It's a small neighborhood place, that is family owned. Not a huge menu, which I like, and it has variety. Whenever I go, I always make a reservation through Open Table. They always have the table ready when we arrive. We never have to wait, even when the restaurant is full. And at least one of the owners always comes by to check on us while dining to be sure everything is ok."

  • "A group of eight went after the theater! The service was great - friendly, knowledgeable and timely. The serving bowls were hot, the food lukewarm - almost unfinished! We were not pleased and would recommend this restaurant to others. Sorry!"

  • "A downtown Downers experience. My party of four suburbanites arrived at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Reservations a must then. Rest. filled up in short order- staff had their hands full. This is not a large place, 10-12 tables, 2-12 at each plus 6 stools at the bar in rear. Ambiance was fine, except noise level was excessive. Difficulty conversing across table. 20 mins. for bevs., 30 to order, 65 for food arrival. Yet, staff well trained, v. pro. in all they did, keeping us watered and updated on our order. Food was flavorful, nicely presented. Shrimp & ling., lasagna, penne w/ braised beef tips --all muy bien! Wine/beer menu not lengthy, but adequate. Least exp. house wine: Pinot -- $6.50. Go before or after the rush. Bread: 8 Circuses: 7"

  • "We were a party of 6: 4 adults and 2 college-age children. Everyone left happy. Dietary modifications were respected. The "Choose Your Own Pasta" allowed for some experimentation; the rest of the menu was a happy mix of traditional and twists."

  • "Cute little place, difficult parking. Prices are good, food is average. So much competition in the Italian eateries you just have to be sure everything is done well; not well done. Great bread served with marinara, didn't miss the oil or butter. Decent selection of wines served in annoying, bartender time consuming mini carafes. They serve no purpose, if it's about pour portion...learn where to stop pouring."
