Scarlet Tea Room & Fine DiningTea Service & EntertainmentThis was our first visit to The Scarlet Tea Room, and we really enjoyed the experience! My wife had the tea service, which included everything from champagne to start, and Strawberries Romanoff to end. The lamb dinner was excellent, and the prosciutto wrapped dates to start were a big hit too!
We also enjoyed the lovely piano & violin music to accompany the meal, and made the overall experience truly enjoyable from start to finish.

Can't remember our wonderful server's name but she absolutely made our first visit at the Scarlet Tea Room a very fun and pleasant experience. She was just beautiful to be around and has the perfect attitude for this type of establishment. I invited my wedding attendants to this Tea to talk about my wedding. The piano music background and classic recorded songs including my favorite French songs made my day. My only critique would be that my server seemed a bit overwhelmed with her table load which threw off the pace of our service. Her personality was however delightful which helped. Also the tea could have been hotter - I'd consider tea cozies at the table or some kind of temperature regulator in the kitchen so it arrives hot enough in the beginning. Over all though, the quality of the food made up for any hiccups in service. I have tea in every city I visit and this level of quality competes with some of the 5-star hotels' tea service. I was very impressed with the exceptional customer service, they made sure we enjoyed our afternoon tea experience. Even the customers were very friendly and suggested some of the items off the menu. And the noise level is at a minimum so you are able to have a conversation without having to raise your voice. The food was good and service was friendly. We love this place cause the decor is so fancy. However I have to deduct 1 star from the service because we used a Travelzoo coupon and an 18% was added (even for small party). I was not told so and I paid another 18% on top of the original before discount price. So a very generous 36% in total. Unless I read my bill item by item which I didn't, I did not notice the 'service charge'added. For most resturants I understand about the mandatory 18% for 6+ guess. Otherwise the server should either circle the charge or verbally told me so which he did not do neither. You have the option of a 3 or 5 course tea service - and can customize your selections from a long list of tempting sandwich options.
Service is gracious and unhurried. Atmosphere is very pleasant - not 'cutesy' like some 'tea rooms'.
They also have a full menu of sandwiches, salads and more.

My girlfriends loved the 5 course experience. the only negative was it went too fast ! The courses came too fast.
We could have had a few more minutes in between each.

My only other comment is the sandwich fillings were quite thin.
The restaurant added a 20% gratuity to our check, we were unaware they would do that as it is not stated on the menu nor in our Open Menu information. Open Table did ask to tip on the full amount of the tea. The service was attentive, without being intrusive. At the height of the lunch rush, with 2 large parties in the next room, my group never felt neglected. The tea sandwiches were excellent, as were staff recommendations for cocktails and the specials of the day. The tea cakes were moist and flavorful, and the petit-fours were both adorable and delicious. I'd recommend it for Mother's Day, Birthdays, or just for lunch with your best girlfriends. We were using a Living Social Voucher and they made it so easy to use. Despite the deafening construction noise outside, once inside, you couldn't hear the noise from the construction and we could focus on enjoying tea. I've been to many different restaurants for tea, but without a doubt, these were the best tea sandwiches ever. One of my pet peeves with tea rooms is that you can't figure out what is in the sandwich without a magnifying glass. Not true at Scarlet Tea Room! The fresh and tasty sandwiches were stuffed with yummy fillings like olive tapenade with roasted red pepper and walnut chicken pesto. Great service! Great food! Great time! I have been 3 times now ( afternoon tea on a Tuesday with bistro lunch options also, weekend afternoon tea, and evening tea during the week. ) . During the weekend tea service ( and I'm told dinner on Friday and Saturday as well) they have live music. It's more crowded and louder, but the service and the food do not suffer at all for it. Weekdays are quieter, and the staff make you feel like special guests. The atmosphere at Scarlet is elegant, but comfortable.
The food is the BEST. Wide selection of tea sandwiches expertly prepared. Scones with cream, lemon curd and jam and desserts delicious. Soup off lunch menu fantastic. They are accommodating in terms of food sensitivities and allergies. A friend of mine is pregnant and has to watch what she eats. We were happy to hear that they were able to accommodate her. Of course, the tea was great too. Amazing service. Great ambiance. A bit pricey but it's worth it. We did the 5 course and with the sparkling cider and it was $50 a person.
