Diner Reviews
  • "We dined at Scape on Thursday, April 10th and while we enjoyed the food, we were seated at 7pm and our appetizers were served by 7:15 and entrees by 7:25. Hard to enjoy when we felt beyond rushed, even though there were empty tables."

  • "Best restaurant of several great St . Louis restaurants. Has it all, great food, flavorful, well presented and served efficiently. Quiet patio for outdoor dining in good weather. All around, can't fail experience."

  • "Food is great and service great but I can get all of that for less. This would be a once a year stop for us."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "One of the best white tablecloth restaurants in the City at a reasonable price."

  • "I had the scallops and they were tasty, my only complaint was our waitress. I could tell she didn't like us from the beginning but we weren't there to make friends? One of our party members asked for a 'to-go' bag and our waitress brought back a bag with only one handle claiming she didn't want to waste it. After spending $300 on a 4 person dinner I think she could have spared us a new paper bag."

  • "The food was good from the limited Sunday night menu. Before diningI looked online at the menu and was disappointed when the normal menu doesn't apply to Sunday nights. The menu is for Sundays is listed under special events which is odd. The salad had a bit too much dressing but was good and the French Onion soup was strongly flavored which I liked. Although we dined early, they were out of mussels which my friend wanted to have. Service was good and help was friendly."

  • "The food and service were very good. Good portions for the price. We each had a different entree, duck, scallops and the fish of the evening. We shared the mussels and THEY WERE OUTSTANDING! My daughter is a wine rep in VT and was very impressed with the wine list. They even carried some of the wines her company represents. We will go back."

  • "Very friendly waiter staff. My wife and I shared oysters, shrimp cocktail, and mussels for our appetizer course. The mussels were the best we ever had. I had the ahi tuna, and if you like it rare, it is excellent. Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back in the summer. The patio area looks beautiful."

  • "SCAPE was recommended by a chef and it certainly lived up to the expectations I had. It was a great place to go for a special event. The drinks and food were outstanding as was the service. I will definitely go back to SCAPE and would highly recommend it to anyone that is in the area."

  • "Scape is a top 10 restaurant in St. Louis. Food was great, service was impeccable and the atmosphere was cozy. Had my 21st anniversary dinner there and it was a perfect setting."

  • "The quality of the food is always excellent at Scape. Great atmosphere, excellent servers that know when to stop by and when to leave you alone, and a menu that's not too big but offers a good amount of variety make this place stand out."

  • "Scape has the perfect menu. I could tack the menu on a wall, throw a dart at it and be happy with anything it hit. I had the french onion soup and weinerschnitzel with potato salad. My wife had the filet mignon with brussel sprouts. All excellent. Our waiter was very attentive, efficient and extremely informative. This was our first visit to Scape and definitely not the last."

  • "Wanted to get out and away from the noise of the ching ching and clank clank of the casino... Great spot right around the corner.. it was quiet. Very romantic and quaint... Just the way I like it.. The food was great, hot and right on time.. Service was good to... Would go back anytime I'm in the area.."

  • "I have never been disappointed after a meal at Scape. The server was great. The chef and the restaurant manager both stopped by our table to chat. This gesture makes the patron feel special and is a great touch to the dinner experience."

  • "The food at Scape is always creative and good. We have tried a variety of dishes and have appreciated the smaller portions and presentations. My husband and I often split a variety of dishes so that we can sample many items on the menu and they are always gracious to do so. Our server, Jenny, was a delight and wonderful to our children who also dined. The wine list offers a variety for all tastes and budgets."

  • "It's always a pleasure to dine at Scape, whether for personal dining or business. The menu is excellent, the wine is good, the service is superior; make sure you get the artichoke for an appetizer, there is none like it."

  • "Been to Scape several times and it is always a pleasant, delicious experience. The noise level is low enough that you can actually talk across a table of 7."

  • "My wife and I were in town unexpectedly when our flight was rerouted and ended up at Scape to ease our travel pain....what a great find! Excellent meal with attentive and informative service. The ambience was warm and welcoming - would like to return in the sping or summer for dining outside."

  • "We were thrilled to have gotten a reservation several days before... And for time we wanted! Very cool scene.... Menu interesting with a Hungarian twist....food wonderful, service excellent.... Fabulous breadbasket..!!"

  • "I would have a hard time recommending Scape to friends, mainly those that enjoy wine. A "house" chardonnay ordered was $16 per glass which is totally out of line for the quality served. Server should have advised that a bottle should be considered. Drinks and food overall were excellent except for the price of a glass of wine."

  • "The service from the waitress was exceptional! Management was friendly as we'll. the front desk hostess somewhat stick up. I would ask her to be more courteous to patrons."

  • "Had the special which was Black Grouper over fingerling potatoes and corn soufflé. Wonderful!"
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "I had a nice meal there with my family. We had appetizers (mussels, a great shrimp on polenta dish, and French onion soup), and then grouper, steak and ravioli. Food quality was high. My only gripe is that the fish and steak had no price listed on the menu, and were mid-$30's, whereas the entrees with listed prices were low $20's. I think it is a bit sneaky to have prices of specials out of line with printed prices. My children loved it, and want to go back."

  • "On Saturday night I found myself transported to Manhattan minus the plane ticket. Scape Bistro was a surprising escape from the Midwest during my two hour dining experience. An attractive hip crowd, lively conversation from our wait staff, engaging bartenders, accommodating hostesses - this place immediately moved to the top of my "go to" choices in St. Louis. And that before I even tasted their phenomenal food fare! We had several choices including the tuna tacos, freshly launched beet salad and beef goulash - each providing perfect portions, flavor and presentation. A table visit from our chef rounded out what was a memorable experience in the CWE. Thanks Scape for solidifying yourself as a top St. Louis dining destination !"

  • "We had previously been to Scape twice for brunch (delicious!), but this was our 1st time going for dinner. We specifically went when we did because we wanted to have some of the Florida stone crab claws before the festival ended. We ordered 4 claws as an appetizer - they were fantastic! For our entrees, my husband had the boat of the day special (Florida grouper), and I ordered the macadamia encrusted chicken. We really liked both our choices, and had enough for leftovers. We chose to skip dessert this time, but next time I will definitely try the salted caramel gelato."

  • "We were pleased by both the food and service. I had the mussels as an appetizer and the scallops as my meal and enjoyed both very much! Other items ordered were the deviled eggs with caviar, butternut squash soup, duck, and braised short ribs... overall most folks were pleased. There was a steady decent crowd there while we dined (7-9pm) both in the bar area and restaurant. They have a nice patio area in back but of course we did not sit out there in November! We went to celebrate my birthday and I would recommend it for a special occasion or a romantic date night because it is a little pricey. I did see a table or 2 for larger groups. Overall I thought the ambiance was nice yet comfortable. I would recommend to a friend and also go back."

  • "We went to Scape a couple of evenings ago with friends. All of us enjoyed our meals. I ordered a salad, raw tuna tacos and roasted cauliflower, all were delicious. My cousin ordered the quail risotto and fell in love. Later in the meal, the chef came to visit us at our table, which was a very nice touch. He encouraged us to get the banana pudding, and it was heavenly. And, he even comped us for that. My cousin would have given her dinner 5 1/2 stars - she loved it that much. I gave it four stars because five is reserved for meals that are "last dinner" quality. I definitely recommend."

  • "as always the chef did a fantastic preparation of the fish, always tasty, with nice veggies around....this restaurant understands you don't need to overload a plate to serve a good meal...my favorite in the St Louis City"

  • "The restaurant was very nice, and our waiter was excellent. We ordered well-done fillets with mashed potatoes. Our steak was served medium. We sent it back. Our waiter brought it back out medium-well and told us that the chef said that's as long as she would cook it. If I'm paying a high price, I want my food cooked as ordered. Then to top it off, our mashed potatoes were cold like they had been sitting for hours. I asked to speak to a manager, but he sent the water boy to get our plates instead. The drinks were good, and they have a lovely bar area. I will not be back due to the service and food. We ate nothing, and paid for nothing."

  • "Went to Scape last weekend. Dinner for 2 with a couple of drinks and appetizers ~$120. Crab cakes were quite small portioned but pretty good. Service was a bit much as conversation interrupted often for "just checking in" by multiple staff members. I had the short ribs..They were in an interesting paprika sauce but the meat was a little stringy and tough. My friend had the filet and he said it was well prepared. Personally we wound not return as food did not live up to what we had heard and price was not a good value."

  • "Patio is nice but the large refrigeration units on the nearby parking garage are very loud. Overall we still had a nice Sunday night dinner. Asian ribs were very good."
