Scaletta RestaurantGreat attention by serviceGreat attention by service staff, very nice ambience, very small portions of good but not overly impressive meals, fairly expensive probably due to area. Very difficult parking. Garage costs $55.00! Bill had no charge for 2 small bottles of after dinner Proseco. How nice, we thought. Before leaving, the waiter said there was a mistake on the bill and gave us a second bill for $20.00. That's when class went to no class. Probably will not go back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA Place for the Mature CrowdGreat place for dinner before a 7:00 event at the New York Historical Society. The restaurant was almost empty at 5:30, leisurely service, very tasty food, nice portions. Good selections from the menu supplemented by sevaral seasonal specials. Definitely a repeat before the next lecture or concert.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great at Scaletta. The food was great at Scaletta. There were four of us and we each ordered
something different- and we were all very pleased. The pasta was cooked
perfectly and the sauces had excellent flavor. I had a seafood
special and the seafood was very flavorful and fresh. We will go back again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellent foodConsistently excellent food in a quiet, spacious, well-appointed dining room where no one rushes you out the door. A favorite place for taking out-of-town guests.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA reasonable place for someA reasonable place for some excellent food --- two veal dishes we had were outstanding4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA HIT for grandparents' visitPerfect for groups who want to actually hear each other speak, including an older crowd. Respectful, old-world service, with survivable prices (unlike other area restaurants). Everybody in our group (7) enjoyed their food, which was tasty, hot and fresh. Well-behaved children are welcomed and will feel welcome and at home, but this is no play-yard, Scaletta is for family dining (almost a lost art in NYC). And you know how everyone loves the desert trolley!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only truly quiet restaurantThe only truly quiet restaurant in the city where it is possible to have a serious conversation.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPeace and ChiantiWe go to Scaletta's for excellent food, thoughtful, attentive service, and--best of all--the quiet yet festive atmosphere. I've never had a bad meal here. The pasta is terrific, the Italian classics are done perfectly, and you are never hurried or pestered. My only disappointment was they were out of duck--and I love their duck! It's especially nice for holiday meals--I've had Thanksgivings and Christmases there--plenty of room for all and really good meal options. And if you're tired after an afternoon at the Museum of Natural History, this is the place to sit down, have a nice glass of chianti, and be glad you, unlike the dinosaurs, get to try the veal!2/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the most civilizedOne of the most civilized restaurants in New York City.
