SbragaIf you haven't been ... Go! Go now!Absolutely GREAT! We watched Kevin win on Top-Chef then our daughter raved about the experience. The food with wine pairing was fun, delicious, and a great learning experience because Megan, our server, was Fantastic! Thanks for a Great evening! We will be back with our supper club.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA chef's unique take on foodAt Sbraga, they really know how to cook! With small tastings, each dish has orchestrated complementary flavors. I had a savory eggplant on adzuki beans with KimChee that was a perfect blend of heat with a cooling red wine-infused applesauce. My second dish was a robust grilled lamb. The pulled lamb still had some crispy edges adding beautiful texture. I ordered the wine suggested with the lamb. It was perfect.
Our late night seating made us feel the 4-dish tasting menu would be too much. Graciously, we were reseated at the bar where we were served with just the right amount of attention. The bartender/server was lovely and enhanced our experience with his detailed explanation of each dish as he served it.
I'll can't wait to return!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful mealEverytime I dine at Sbraga I'm fascinated by the combinations of ingredients used and how beautifully they work together.
The key lime pie was like none I ever had. Yum.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experienceNo other words needed. I always enjoy my time here. Truly a dining experience.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFlavor! We had a WONDERFUL time: food, service,
ambiance; all great. The flavors were innovative and well defined.
Good time.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!I have dined at Sbraga about 5 times. It keeps getting better. I dined the other day with my wife and another couple. Every dish was great. Innovatively prepared food, full of favors and beautifully plated. The service was very good. The waitress knew every ingredient in every dish. Service casually comfortable and not the least bit stuffy. Can't wait to return!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur firstIt was our first fine dining experience in Philadelphia. I surprised my fiance for his birthday and we were both impressed. Wonderful food and excellent service. We will definitely return to try all the other exciting courses. The soup was amazing!!!!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal! We LOVED our experience and totally recommend to all!
Food, staff, wine, everything was exceptional!
We can't wait to go back!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeGreat food and great service at a reasonable price. Great place to walk around after lunch!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good First visitThis was my first time at the restaurant and I will most certainly dine there again. The only reason I gave it a "Very Good" and not an "Outstanding" was my third course was okay but not up to the standards of the first two. The first course I had was the Pork Belly and it was amazing and for my second course I had the Octopus and it too was amazing. My third course was another Pork Belly dish and that was okay but not like the first two. My dessert course was a perfect finish to the meal. All in all a very good visit.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingI work in the food industry in Canada and we made a special trip for my birthday to dine at Sbraga. It was a phenomenal experience. The value is incredible, but that isnt what made it so great, it was the food itself. I am not usually a big fois gras fan, but their fois gras soup was beyond memorable. We all longed to go back the following day, to me a sign of a great experience. Colin the (GM I believe) is a true example as to someone who knows and cares about their job and this industry. Will good back for sure!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, outstanding foodAs always, outstanding food and service! Thank you!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAs advertisedTable for 2 (33-yr old, not-so-young professionals who live in the city) @930 on Friday: still packed. Not a bad seat in the house. Prix fixe w wine pairing for $85: awesome. 1st course paper thin peppered Pork belly (ceviche?) paired w a strong Belgian ale: awesome! We'll be back--w friends.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food and great staffThe food was wonderful! I worried that there would be too much since it is 4 courses, but each course was a perfect size and truly delicious. I ordered two options from the 2nd course and skipped the 3rd, so don't be afraid to talk to the staff and ask for exactly what you want. The staff was spectacular, all working together to create a lovely meal.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSeriously ImpressiveSbraga's cuisine was amazing. Trust the chef's suggestions and try something new, you will not be disappointed. The customer service was also notably outstanding. Each employee was well versed on the menu and courteous. My husband and I could not have chosen a better spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill dine there again4 of us dined at Sbrago on a recent weeknight. The service is wonderful and the food was too. We tried many different dishes and of course had some favs. The shrimp soup was a winning appetizer. The lamb dish as the third course was delicious!! The key lime dessert was out of this world. All was good these were just a few we liked. The servers are knowledgable and helpful.
Make sure you have a reservation as they are always busy.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding tastes and flavorOutstanding tastes and flavor combinations, including a foie gras soup that may be one of the most decadent tasting things I have ever eaten. Friendly and efficient service appropriate to the vibe of the restaurant. My only disappointment was the wine pairings. They were interesting and well chosen but for $35 I thought the size of the pours was quite stingy. It's like the servers have been taught to measure 3 ounces and not a drop more. So between the two of us we paid $70 for not quite a full bottle of decent but not overwhelming wines. Would have done better to simply order by the glass or bottle.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMtop 5Sbraga is a great special occasion meal. Interesting and spot on preparations. He fuses lots of different cuisines while still being american. The drink pairings were very well thought out and had options for each course that weren't wine. It's always nice to walk past the kitchen and see the actual chef on the line, preparing your meal. Truly a fantastic experience.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting and unusual flavoringsFor example: Curry flavored tapioca pudding, some kind of Indian spice with thinly sliced pork belly. I liked that I could see Chef Sbraga cooking from my table. The server was very patient in explaining the menu and knowledgeable about the foods.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Meal with Great ServiceThe four course prix fixe meal was delicious -- especially the signature fois gras soup and meat loaf, as well as a spring lamb course. Service was attentive and very professional. A la carte dining is available at the bar for those who want a lighter meal.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, small portionsFor $49, you get four very nice courses - and not quite enough of any of them. This is, after all, a "small-plates" place. When they say that, they mean it.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA True Dinning ExperienceMy wife and I dinned for the first time at Sbraga this weekend and my only regret is not finding this gem sooner. The meal was a wonderful adventure of unique tastes blended with perfect portions and a wonderful atmosphere. Awesome food, great energy and exciting fresh surroundings, but the service topped all with knowledgeable, fun and confident staff able to punctuate an incredible night.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood to come back to!We had difficulty choosing from the diverse menu. Everything sounded great. The four course meal is a delight. Everything we ordered was special. Superb flavors. We vowed to come back because we couldn't try everything the first time. A great place for a special occasion!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFood & service out of this world! My boyfriend and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary by having dinner here. The four courses were exquisite, unique and very tasty! The staff were very knowledgeable and the customer service was top notch! We received a card with anniversary wishes signed by Kevin Sbraga which was definitely a class act!
I would suggest anyone who is celebrating something; enjoys excellent food & appreciates top notch service to dine at Sbraga. And make sure you have the roasted red pepper pineapple for dessert. You won't regret it ;-)5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUnusual, Fun Dining ExperienceWe didn't know it was a pre fixe only restaurant, so were a bit surprised, but the food was well worth the price. They're smaller portions of a four course meal and the flavors were complex, unique combinations, that resulted in a fun dining experience. Our top likes were the steak tartare, the lamb, the gnocchi, the pork belly and the chocolate pot de creme. Great for a special occasion!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a special mealChef Sbraga won 'Top Chef' a few years ago, doing so with a low key personality and by far the best food of the competitors. He continues this tradition at his restaurant on Broad Street, serving high quality food in an under-stated serving area. Table service has one choice: $49 per person for a four-course meal, with about five choices per course. The two of us intentionally made different choices on each of the courses, and thus got to taste eight different items. Every single one of them was just about perfect. Not large portions, but excellent in looks, smell, taste, and freshness. Service by all of the staff was similarly excellent -- attentive but not intrusive, even though we were (for about 20 minutes) the only people in the place.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful and a bargainGreat food and very creative menu. At $50 a person for a 4 course dinner, and $35 for a "beverage flight" (includes very interesting choices of wines, cocktails and beer), this is a steal.
My only regret is that I am recommending this too highly and it will be difficult for me to get back in!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive new American cuisineHad a great meal at Sbraga. The portion sizes are quite small, and I found myself wanting more of each dish which is just a testament to how good the food was. Will definitely be coming back5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLived up to expectationsGreat evening. Wonderful blending of tastes in all the dishes. Great choice of options. Tends to the spicy in several of the dishes. Portions are small but sufficient to make you feel you had enough to eat. Ladies, take a shawl as the AC can be chilly if you sit along the wall to the right as you enter the restaurant. Definite repeat though.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas sizesFixed price menu with up charge opportunity's...
For course 1 we had Pork Belly, it's cut razor thin like prosciutto, Can't taste the pork as the spices are over powering and I do like spices, just seemed way too much.
OK so my $12 up charge for Wagyu seemed reasonable enough until the dish arrived. I safely put my knife down when the dish was put in front of me, as the two bite size beef pieces on my plate would not need to be cut. The chicken my wife had was great.
All in all a good experience, but not great by a long shot. Loved the popovers. Wine list is sad. Don't come here hungry.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience! We had a 5:15 reservation (one person in our group is a pastry chef, and she goes to bed early, so we needed an early reservation). We were the first group there, so we can't really comment on the noise level. Food was amazing, great selection of choices! Great beverage pairings too! Will definitely be going back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW! What an amazing find!Looking for a place to dine before an event at the Kimmel Center, this restaurant came to my attention. I was intrigued by the menu..and called to see if we could make the event, and still enjoy the fabulous 4 courses...and was assured that there would be time. And I am so glad, because we (party of four) had the dining experience of a lifetime!!! Unusual combinations, that sang to every taste bud ! The portions were not overwhelming, and good thing, since some were so rich...the size made them guilt free! I can't wait for my next chance to dine! The service was pampering and informative, and was a large part of the fine dining experience! YUM!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMALWAYS GREATmy go to restaurant in the city. The food is always fantastic & always different from the last time. The service is warm and knowledgable. Will be back soon for another GREAT meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe $49 prix fixe menu hadThe $49 prix fixe menu had enough choices to satisfy most people. I thought the second course could have had more variety. There were at least 4 fish choices - among them calimari, octopus and other exotic fish. There was a fluke which was good.
My third course was the lamb which was well prepared and very tasty. I had the bisquite savoire for dessert which was also very good. I would return to ths restaurant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Food Freezing restaurantIt was hard to relax and enjoy the amazing meal, dish after dish, due to the fact that the temperature was like a meat locker and I had a constant breeze from the AC vents above my head. But the food was mind blowingly good! Its a must try. Just bring a sweater!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous FoodCreative, well prepared and beautiful presentation.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary DinnerMy husband and I were beyond pleased with Sbraga. Everything was done so well, and novel. I highly recommend the roast pork! Delicious. Great food and great service.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSeveral previous restaurantsSeveral previous restaurants had failed at this Pine and Broad location. So I was pleased to see Sbraga thriving and developing a neighborhood following. The decor is lovely, the waitstaff were excellent and helpful. The food was creative, unique and excellent. Lots of surprise spices and heat, which were a delight to us. The winelist is unique with excellent and unusual choices like Primitivos and vintages from the Canary Islands.
We. Had an excellent time and an exclent meal.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful surpriseI have to admit that I am dubious of any restaurant with raving reviews in Philadelphia. I saw Sbraga's performance on his season of Top Chef, and didn't know what to expect. BOY, am I glad that I tried this place!
Incredibly elegant, creative, beautiful and balanced flavors. I LOVED the octopus dish with olive tapenade. The bold flavors were awesome, and not like anything I've had in Philly, and I have eaten pretty much everywhere. That's the kind of food I want to eat always. My only negative comment would be that although the wagyu beef was beautifully cooked, the accompaniments were a bit of a waste. I didn't bother eating them after tasting. A more creative sauce and side would have elevated the dish.
Will return!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTrying, but shortService was great. 25th wedding anniv dinner.4 courses including dessert. Everything was good except main entrees fell a little short. I'd recommend, but don't believe it achieved the ranking given it by Philadelphia Magazine.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding spring menu! After several visits to Sbraga, the food and staff continue to amaze and delight. This time I was accompanied by two very discriminating diners and they are converts to Chef's foie gras soup, his pastas (can life get better than gnocchi with escargot?) and the amazing desserts. My friends kept comparing Sbraga's food to the best in NY City and Europe!!! The service, as always, was superb; starting with hosts, the efficient and accommodating manager, Ben, and the team of wait-staff who ensure smooth and attentive service. Will be returning as long as the Chef keeps preparing his masterpieces.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWaiter was knowledgible andWaiter was knowledgible and helpful with selections.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSbraga lived up to its reputationSbraga lived up to its reputation for innovation, creativity, and just plain deliciousness. The service was impeccable and we even had a nice chat with our dining neighbors!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and theThe food was great and the staff was energetic and friendly. They provided our group with good recommendations and we were very pleased with the selections.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first visit; well worthMy first visit; well worth it. Some have complained that the servings in the four course dinner are too small; if you have a big appetite that could be the case but I left feeling quite comfortable (although I certainly wouldn't have minded a bit more). Each course was very well done; much attention to detail and plating and the flavors were bold. If you don't have much tolerance for some spice (i.e. heat), you would want to order carefully. Service was excellent. I look forward to returning the next time i'm in Philly.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food. Kevin personallyOutstanding Food. Kevin personally came out from behind the line and met us. Unbelieverable meal.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI had high expectations forI had high expectations for Sbraga, having seen Kevin Sbraga on "Top Chef" and eaten some of his food at a tasting years ago... Fortunately, SBRAGA delivered in all areas from the ambiance to the service, and, most importatntly, the food!
My wife and I took two other foodie couples, and they too thought that the experience was terrific. We were all impressed with the creativity and bold flavors - certainly one of the best meals I've had in several years.
I can't wait to go back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was absolutely outstandingFood was absolutely outstanding and worth the high prices. I had the octopus and the lamb and loved them both. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable and never instrusive.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingOverall outstanding experience. The food was wonderful, service was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Wine list was great. Highly recommended.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional evening at SbagaExceptional evening at Sbaga to celebrate our anniversary -- from the bartender to the waitstaff,it could not have been nicer. Amazing, creative food and a delightful experience. Wish such a place existed in DC!Without doubt, we will return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
