Diner Reviews
  • "This was our 4th time at Sbraga and on every occasion the food, service, drinks and atmosphere is wonderful. Definitely one of the best in Philly these days!"

  • "Dined here on the recommendation of a friend, but our group's high expectations were severely disappointed. The food was good, though very salty. This could have been overlooked but the service was what lowered our overall experience even more. Our server was unfriendly, with a condescending attitude. We felt rushed throughout the whole meal and there were no apologies made for the harsh smoke that wafted through the restaurant and made half the restaurant gag. Disappointing."

  • "Food was very good. The service was excellent...only issue is that seating is extremely tight, almost shoulder to shoulder with table next to us. Not a romantic setting."

  • "This was our first visit to Sbraga. The four course tasting menu was $55 per person. With a decent Italian bottle of red and tip, dinner for two was $200. The place is a little crowded and a lot loud. We were seated about 30 minutes past the reservation time. But when we were squeezed between two loud tables and asked to move where there was only someone on one side, they quickly accommodated us. The waitress was excellent--friendly and providing detailed descriptions of our food options. All of the dishes were interesting. I'm not sure it would make our "repeat" list...but the menu was eclectic and nothing was "not good." I believe the menu changes seasonally. I do want to try his new place--the Fat Ham, though."

  • "This really is a restaurant unlike the others out there. If you are looking for a new experience, this is for you. The ingredients are finely tuned and also quite unique. Non-foodies will either have to take a leap of faith when ordering or have the waitstaff explain each option. But the food really was outstanding. I think $150 for two people, with one glass of wine (not each, just one) was a little expensive, but overall, I'm glad we tried it."

  • "Most exciting and creative food in Philadelphia....our favorite restaurant...can`t wait to go back."

  • "Of all the great meals we've had at Sbraga, this one was probably the best. The place just gets better and better."

  • "The tasting menu was fun, not great. Service was fantastic. It was extremely noisy."

  • "We are foodies, and our meal at Sbraga was one of the best meals of our life. Each course amazed with the combination of flavors, the freshness of the ingredients, and the deft use of seasoning. The service was friendly, helpful, and attentive without being overbearing. Since we could watch Chef Sbraga and his cooks, we could see how calmly he ran his kitchen, and how well timed the courses were. We live in DC, but would gladly drive to Philadelphia just for another meal at this restaurant!"

  • "This was my first time at the restaurant. Had read some good reviews and decided to take a friend. It was a Monday night so pretty quiet. Had some feel to being an off night from the weekend. Its an attractive restaurant with an eclectic feel which I liked. The food was creative and of high quality. Pretty good portions and a full and distinctive wine list. I would go again."

  • "We travel a lot and eat out a lot and these guys just know how to cook and present. The place is not large and it can be noisy when full - but I think it is some of the best food in Philly. Topping that off - their pricing is fantastic and innovative"

  • "So this restaurant has really high-class soul food. Very good fusion of all kinds of food from Korean to American, but the base of the food is soul food. Great place to eat and not ridiculously expensive."

  • "We came here based on Top-10 list recommendations and were not disappointed. The four-course structure of the meal gave us great options, and the portions were large enough that we were stuffed by the end of the night. Our service was friendly and extremely attentive. Flavors are big, bold, and unique (read: foie gras soup with notes of cumin -- yum!). We also loved the decor: clean, modern, warm."

  • "Went to Sbraga last Saturday with another couple. For the most part, delicious, inventive cuisine. And the four-course "tasting menu" (really, just a prix fixe menu) offered a number of choices for each course. But each dish was MINISCULE. More like a tapas plate than a course. The dishes for my wife, who is a vegetarian, were especially skimpy. We could easily have eaten twice as much with no strain, and we normally don't like food piled high on our plates. So value was very poor. Ear-splitting noise rounded out our fine dining experience. We won't be back."

  • "Once again, eating at Sbraga is not to be missed. Food and service are first rate. $49 per person menu is very reasonable for the exceptional experience. A gem on the Avenue of the Arts."

  • "I have eaten at a vast number of restaurants in many cities, but I have to say that this one has been one of my better dining experiences anywhere.. not just Philly. The pre-fix menu was explorative and gave good variety and a ton of flavor. We always order opposites when we pre-fix to taste everything. The drink pairing was amazing, and its one of the RARE places that an alcohol pairing doesn't just do wine - its beer and mix drinks as well! For the caliber of food, level of service and the final price which was extremely reasonable... about $250 for two on a dinner with pairing.. its a fabulous value! If you only hit one or two restaurants in Philly when in town and are a foodie - and there are some great places in Philly - try here!"

  • "The meal I had at Sbraga was one of the most well constructed that I've had. Attention to detail is impeccable and the concepts are fresh and flawlessly executed. The night was unforgettable. Sbraga creates a fantastic but insular experience. Sharing is not encouraged by the setting or portioning. I will return to Sbraga for another taste of perfectly crafted cuisine, but I won't look to them for a night to share with friends and family. In fact, for my first attempt to dine at Sbraga (at a very non-peak time), with friends and two toddlers, the empty restaurant turned us away with the weak excuse of a large party arriving shortly. The experience is in danger of seeming socially sterile, but the perfect dishes make it all worthwhile."

  • "Great place. Foie Gras soup was amazing. I didn't think the portions were going to leave me feeling satisfied but as they layered on it was just perfect. Wine pairing was well done. Place has a great energy and vibe about it. Will go back again!"

  • "Great dining experience from A to Z. The staff was amazing and knowledable in all aspects of the dishes and wine pairings. The food was amazing. Every dish was full of flavor and well worth every dollar."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed the four course meal. The rabbit with barley risotto was spectacular. Diverse menu, beautiful presentation, and stellar service."

  • "My wife and I just recently made our first trip to Sbraga. The only regret I have is not going sooner ! First off, the food is out of this world. Every course was amazing ... even the bread. The second course was our favorite: a risotto dish with rabbit and a crab pasta dish. We also tried a few drinks each and even they were amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making recommendations. The atmosphere is not super fancy, but has a chic modern feel. The meal was a bit pricey. Granted, we splurged a little on the drinks, which added about $70 to our bill. The experience was still well worth the cost. If you live close to Philadelphia and like great food, you MUST try Sbraga. We certainly can't wait to return !"

  • "People have been telling me how great this restaurant is since it opened, so I shouldn't be surprised. The food was amazing - standouts were the lobster roll, agnolotti and cornish hen. The service was also fantastic. Our server Dawn was super friendly, as were all of the staff, and were attentive without being overbearing. Our early reservation also meant a window seat, which was a nice bonus!"

  • "Food was incredible. It is fixed price menu but there are many options for each course. Highly recommended."

  • "Went to Fat Ham for a drink and appetizers then dinner at Sbraga I would recommend either one, service and food were fantastic. Very fun and creative dishes."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner. The drinks were fun, the food amazing and service were terrific! We look forward to our next meal there."

  • "Service was impeccable - when calling to confirm and when we sat down, everyone asked if we had any dietary restrictions or allergies. They totally cater to your needs and are so pleasant. Absolutely fantastic food, and the four courses are a great deal at $50 and just the right amount of food to leave you completely satisfied but not overstuffed. We'll be dining here again soon."

  • "The food was absolutely amazing. The service was terrible, the waiter's English was very poor so communication was tough. We had been in the restaurant 20 minutes before he even took our order. The wine was also terrible, we had 3 bottles all over $150 a bottle and all three were not good. We were seated in the back and there was a side door that was continually being opened and closed letting the very cold air into the restaurant and the noise level was extremely high. The shame of it was that the food was so superior that it's a shame to have bad service/bad wine and an extremely loud restaurant, it did not compliment the food at all."

  • "When we first went to Sbraga it was when it just opened, we had an awesome dinner, everything was done in perfection, and the portion was just right. We recommended the restaurant to friends and people at work, my husband went back a couple of time with clients. But this past time we were there, nothing is what we remembered, the soup was luke warm, the portion was small, the dishes were overly spiced, cocktail drink is below average, except for the deserts which we enjoyed. Overall it was a disappointing experience, don't think will go again given there are so many good restaurants to choose from in Philadelphia."

  • "We enjoyed Sbraga very much. All of the dishes were excellently prepared. We especially liked the polenta and the pork loin special. The servers were friendly and personal. The noise level was a bit high, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience."

  • "The food was excellent; the service and vibe professional but aloof and impersonal, like this is their job and they're just doing it because they have to. While we were not in the preheater crowd, there was a sense of being rushed as if we were."

  • "We had been wanting to try Sbraga for a while. Read many good reviews, and our dining experience there exceeded our expectations in every way. Our server Dawn was friendly and very knowledgable. Started with cocktails and they were excellent. Menu was interesting. We had a lot of questions and she answered them with thorough knowledge of menu and preparation details. Four course Prix Fixe a great deal for what you get. We also had the beverage pairing which is reasonable, too. Food was outstanding!! Ambience was casual and relaxed. Tables of two a bit close together, but our neighbors were friendly. Fun to see Chef Sbraga out in the house throughout our visit. Wonderful dining experience!!"

  • "I took my wife here for a birthday dinner. We were promptly seated and attended to by the wait staff. Our food was delicious and inventive. I have read a few negative reviews about portion size, however, we were both satisfied at the end of the meal. You wont get huge portions like you do alot of other places, but you certainly dont leave hungry. My wife did the beverage pairing and thought it was well worth the couple of extra dollars. I would definately go back again! I had dreams last night about the polenta and the cornish hen! Looking forward to our next visit."

  • "After eating at Sbraga it becomes clear why Kevin Sbraga was a Top Chef winner. His use of flavors and unique pairing of ingredients made every dish I choose from the tasting menu memorable. The foie gras soup was amazing. It was nice to see chef Sbraga there. He was warm and welcoming just like his restaurant."

  • "I took my fiance to Sbraga for his birthday. The service here was very friendly and always on point. The food was very, very good, but like many fancy, high end restaurants, the portions were a bit small. The third (main) course was a bit larger of a portion, however. Going to Sbraga was an over all positive experience, as you are paying for the ambiance and gourmet food choices. However, if you are someone that likes a lot of "bang for your buck" or to go to a restaurant and eat...well, a lot...you might leave slightly disappointed."

  • "For my spouse’s birthday, we went to Sbraga and booked a reservation for the Chef’s Table. Yuli our server was great. We sat at the Chef’s Table, the best seat in the house; at least for us. Started with great cocktails and popover- gougères. for my courses; I had the potato ceviche, clams and bucatini, the NY strip and the caramel coffee cake with coffee ice cream. My spouse had the foie gras soup (AH-MAY-ZING!), the octopus, NY strip and the cheese plate. I loved every dish. This is not food for the spice-weak or wary. Great savory, spicy, bold flavors but nothing overpowering. Chef Sbraga was attentive to every dish that went out to every diner. He came over to wish my spouse a happy birthday. A Philadelphia gem and a true ‘Top Chef’."

  • "I made reservations for a birthday dinner. i had read glowing reviews of Kevin Sbraga's culinary talents and wanted to have a special experience. However, while the food was inventive and flavorful, the portions were simply too small to satisfy. I loved the first course- chicken liver mousse as well as the polenta. However, my lamb ragu was salty and oily and the pasta was undercooked. The final straw was when my date ordered the steak for an added fee of $15, but for the added price he had 3 bite sized pieces of meat. By the end of the meal, we were planning where to go for a follow up meal as we were still hungry after 4 courses. Unlike other fine dining experiences in Philadelphia, Sbraga's was not a satisfying experience or a good value."
