Sbicca - Del MarPatio Dining is a Must!This is our third visit to Sbicca and we have been fortunate to sit in the upstairs patio area each time. The ocean view is beautiful, especially at sunset. Their heaters are very effecient to the point of being too warm. Our server obliged our temperature challenge by moving us to a seat closer to the balcony edge where we could feel the cooling ocean breeze. Very accommodating in all ways was this particular server. When I had tried the lamb meatballs and found them drowned in Italian spices so I could not taste the lamb, our waiter was quick to change my appetizer selection to the bacon-wrapped shrimp. They were WONDERFLUL! I ordered the scallops and they were perfectly seared and scrumptious. Two of the three main courses were fabulous, but the chicken dish was so dry it was almost inedible. One of them had dined at Sbicca and suggested it. We grazed on starters and enjoyed every dish. The mussels were really outstanding. Service was great, food was wonderful and they had many options for beverages. the mussels in a thick flavorful sauce but the sandy particles in the mussels was a damper...
as you try to get the sand out of your mouth. Unfortunately there was a very loud party which somewhat ruined the ambience, but I wouldn't blame the restaurant for that. Incredible location on 15th street in Del Mar. I like to sit up top for the ocean view. Excellent food. Incredible shrimp and lobster bisque (would be nice to have a cup size vs. just bowl).
