  • "We enjoyed a Canada Day dinner at the Sawmill. Our steaks were prepared to perfection, and the side of sweet peppers was a nice touch. The restaurant had at least three large groups arrive shortly after we were seated, with our server attending to a group of 22. Our service did not suffer at all. Heather did an incredible job making all in her area feel welcome, and took excellent care of all. As it was "Steak Night", various steak enhancements were complimentary, as well as a nice dessert was included with any steak order. The meal and dining experience were incredible, and the price was very reasonable given the high quality of the meal and the preparation."

  • "There was 5 people in our family group. Two had the half rack of ribs,1 had steel head salmon, 1 had prime rib and I had chicken neptune. Everyone liked their meal, the ribs were falling off the bone tender and tasty. The prime rib was very good, the salmon was enjoyed by me grandson. I really enjoyed the chicken neptune. The seafood was so delicate and tasty. We finished off with creme caramel and cranberry crumble. All very delicious. The servers were friendly and energetic and effeceint. They brought Kyle a sparkler on his crumble. A nice touch to our celebration. Well worth another visit."

  • "My family and I have been going to Sunday brunch at the Sawmill for the past month or so. The spread is pretty great for the most part, and eating all you can for 23 bucks is an awesome deal. It does get rather noisy though, especially with large family groups, so you'll want to be aware of that. However, the service staff is always friendly and speedy and we've never had a problem there. I can speak to the dinner menu but brunch is a hit!"

I find this restaurant very noisy and was difficult to visit with so much noise around. Comments from guests I was dining with were tough chicken, steak over cooked and disappointment with portions.   • "A little open, but some tables have wonderful quite spots for private functions. Food is excellent, service was wonderful and over the top. (She has served us before and is a definate asset for you!). Only suggestion is allowing children to order, without the 'not suppose to do that' off of the bar menu for burgers. I visit the bar often and can order off of both, let the kids do the same. They are too old for the kiddy menu and love their big burgers... Other than that excellent!"

  • "I took my parents to The Sawmill in Fort Saskatchewan to celebrate their 39th anniversary as well as Mother's Day (this was Mother's Day) and when they found out it was my parents' anniversary our server brought each of my parents a glass of sparkling wine as a gift. We all ordered apps and entree's and left sated. The food here is of an excellent standard. I had their New England Clam Chowder and the Indian Butter Chicken. THe chowder had a delightful combination of vegetables that is not standard to a clam chowder but which set off the flavour of the clams and made the soup near to divine. Their butter chicken is worth a try. Right at the end they add fresh tomatoes and cilantro which make it anglicized but honouring the dish. "

  • "Attending the Sawmill Brunch for Mothers Day was a very good experience. The selection of food and deserts was varied but not overwhelming. As it was Mothers Day I would expect an extra level of service. The brunch was the regular Sunday Brunch which was a small let down. The food was good, with pancakes being the letdown while the french toast was a pick me up. The separation of hot foods and cold was good, but having the eggs benedict off the main line behind the beef and ham, left us without as it had to be brought to our attention that there was eggs benedict. Over all very good with service and ambiance picking up for the only good food."

  • "I took my mother there for Mother's Day evening. The mixed alcoholic beverages are lacking due to larger-sized ice chunks and taste more strong than other places, such as Red Lobster. The steak, lobster, prawns, broccoli, and potatoes are great but I cannot recommend the ribs. Not only were they really fatty but I bit down on a small piece of bone, that if swallowed, may have seriously ruined my whole night with discomfort. "Swiss Chalet" ribs, are better and shame these. Despite that, I do recommend Sawmill in Fort Saskatchewan, simply because everything else was above and beyond, including their innovative desserts (best of all: the berry cheesecake and chocolate mousse, which I'm not certain comes without the "smore's" lava cake.)"

Our server I would suspect was knew to the job, because my friends steak was overcooked and she did not offer to bring out a new one for her. As 3 of is continued to visit for a hour or so after our dinner, we felt rushed by the server - even though the restaurant was not busy. We were offered dessert, but never any coffee or tea."

For the price of the food I've had better at less expensive places but our experience was mainly contributed to the waitress that served us. She kept reaching across people's plates in order to hand someone else something. She had no idea the make up of any of the dishes when asked. Due to allergies the birthday girl couldn't find anything on the menu she wanted. She first placed an order and then had to come back and state I'm sorry but the chef has informed me that there ate onions in the sauce(allergy is to onions) her appetizer had a crab shell in it that cut her gums. It was just item after item overall bad exp"

Although the restaurant was packed we were still provided excellent service. The food was exceptional. Even though we live in Sherwood Park, we will be going back to the Fort. From beginning to end, it was a great dining experience."

  • "Waited 65 minutes for our meal and were told it was because we ordered our steaks medium well. My wife's steak was raw! Manager told us it will be 12 minutes to cook another one. WHAT??? why did it take so long the first time? At no time were we offered anything free drinks, appertizers or even a discount. When we complained to the manager all he could say was " I don't know what to say" We watched other people being seated and get their meals before us. After waiting 20 more minutes we got up and left. Wasted 85 minutes of our lives in this restaurant...to bad we have gone there many times but no excuse for the poor service."

  • "My friend and I went to the Sawmill, Fort Saskatchewan on Monday, March 31st for an early supper. As an appetizer, we really enjoyed the pot stickers. These were such tasty, moist and succulent little bites of delight. The spinach salad failed to impress. A handful of spinach with a small sliced egg on the side and some sliced dried tomatoes (or ham??? Couldn't tell) I didn't enjoy that at all, simply because I could make the same thing at home without any culinary talent. We chose to share a 7 oz. steak with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was perfectly prepared...that's what I'm talking about guys! The service was excellent! The manager came by to check on us. I told him we had a great meal, since most of it was fantastic."

  • "Have eaten here a few times now! We had our 25th Anniversary with 20 people! Everyone was happy with their meal & the service! The ambience is really nice! Had the Sunday Brunch and again was very good, service was slow to start but picked up later! Lots of breakfast items, pancakes & waffles with whipped cream & toppings, roast beef and ham carved to your liking, omelette station, chicken & fish choices as well as rice, eggs benidict, etc! Also nice selection of salads, shrimp cocktail, a whole cooked salmon, cheeses, fruit & desserts! Have also had lunch a few times and was really impressed with the lunch choices! Overall a very good restaurant, abit pricey but worth it :)"

We had nothing to worry about as we were served in a timely fashion. The prime rib was excellent as was the vegetable served with it. I love the buns that are served at the beginning. Great atmosphere. And a staff that is right on top of things. We had escargot as an appetizer and it was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "When we arrived we were seated promptly. The restaurant was steady but by no means was it busy. I noticed several very large parties seated and we noticed the attention they were getting - appeared to be good service. Our waitress appeared 1 minute of us being seated, and took our drink order. Then when returned 1 minute later, took our dinner order. With in I would say 5-10 minutes we had our appetizers - the service was quick - everyone had a smile on their face and appeared to like what they were doing. The food was very good. The restaurant got busier but the level of service never went down. Our small party of two was not lost in the crowds and parties of 10+. We loved everything about our experience and we are going back. Great Job."
